System: Replicating The Heavens
Chapter 450: Ch 450: Murals & Story
Unable to rely on his Divine Sense, Alex could only depend on either his Chaos Energy or his own eyes. But he hesitated because he knew if he released Chaos Energy here, there was a strong chance it would be absorbed by something unknown. That would expose him to danger.
So, Alex made up his mind to rely on himself to explore this cave carefully.
The underground space was pitch black. It was darker than night. He could barely see a few steps ahead.
With a calm breath, he raised his hand, and the next moment, a blazing light erupted from his body. In the blink of an eye, countless small flames shot out in every direction, clinging to the cave walls and ceiling.
"Fwoosh!"
The flames spread quickly, illuminating the vast underground chamber. Moreover, these flames were fueled by dozens of Energy Stones Alex took out and shattered. He deliberately avoided using Chaos Energy to sustain the fire, since he could sense that the strange attraction here would instantly devour any trace of Chaos Energy released by him.
As the underground world lit up, Alex observed his surroundings carefully, and his eyes instantly widened in shock.
He saw that the walls of the cave were completely carved with bizarre lines, curves, and symbols. These lines, curves, and symbols together formed glyphs. At first, the glyphs seemed random, but as the firelight spread, Alex realized they formed a continuous mural. Moreover, these murals seemed to be telling a story.
His entire attention was shifted. He carefully started observing the murals.
The first scene on the murals showed a towering figure with three heads and a single massive body. This figure appeared to be very similar to the statue Alex had seen not long after entering the cave.
Just by looking at it, Alex can feel that this figure's presence is overwhelming. It was like a god of war. Countless smaller beings were bowing in reverence below its massive figure. Words appeared beside the image in an ancient script, and although Alex couldn't read them directly, the glyphs themselves conveyed meaning to Alex's mind in some way.
Alex knew at that moment that the giant with three heads was called Vor'Kesh. The Three-headed Spider he faced outside the cave was a follower of this giant figure.
Alex didn't know how those glyphs directly poured his mind with many pieces of information, but the information he received was undoubtedly essential.
Vor'kesh was a giant among giants, capable of standing against any Saint Sovereign Realm warrior. Coupled with the fact that he was a member of an ancient race known as the Triarchs, he was born with three heads. This also meant he had three pairs of eyes, and the important part was that each pair of eyes was different, carrying unique powers.
The first pair was called the Eyes of Stars, which could summon the brilliance of distant suns and channel stellar fire.
The second pair was the Eyes of Dominion, capable of suppressing weaker beings with just a glance, bending their will under his authority.
The third pair was the Eyes of Eyes of Flame, which could conjure eternal fire that never extinguishes.
Due to these eyes, even among Saint Sovereigns, he was definitely one of the strongest.
The glyphs told Alex of their homeland, which was a vast world filled with storms of fire and oceans of molten gold. The Triarchs were born fighters, their three heads giving them unmatched awareness and wisdom in battle.
Alex took a deep breath and looked at the next part of the mural. He could now understand these murals for some reason, perhaps because he had already obtained information from the glyphs earlier. He can see that the next part of the murals depicts not only the Triarchs, but many other strange races: winged serpents coiling around planets, humans with overlord aura, shadowy figures with hundreds of eyes, and beasts with bodies as large as continents.
All of them seemed to be fighting for the same object. That object was a golden piece of paper.
Even though it was just a carving, the moment Alex looked at that golden piece of paper, he felt as if the golden page radiated a sense of holiness and danger. The glyphs trembled faintly under Alex's gaze, as if the story itself still carried remnants of that ancient power.
The golden page was the heart of a terrible war.
The walls showed vivid scenes, such as armies clashing across shattered skies, worlds exploding into flames and ashes, and rivers of stars collapsing. The races fought with weapons so massive they pierced the heavens, and powers so fierce they actually destroyed space itself.
The Triarchs, led by Vor'kesh, were one of the strongest participants, but they were far from alone.
The war lasted for ages, consuming worlds and lives without end. Hundreds of races were destroyed, swallowed by the chaos. In the end, even the golden page itself was unable to withstand the struggle of so many races.
The mural showed the page being ripped apart into four pieces of different sizes. Each piece of golden page glowed with its own light.
Vor'kesh was shown again in the glyphs. He was now bloodied and broken. But against all odds, he managed to snatch one of the four torn pieces of the golden paper. Unfortunately, the piece he obtained was the smallest of the four.
Still, even the smallest fragment of the golden page contained unimaginable power. The glyphs showed Vor'kesh fleeing, chased by enemies who wanted his piece of paper. He used all his strength, his three heads roaring together as he cut open paths through enemies and space itself. In the end, he managed to escape into hiding.
The mural's final scene showed Vor'kesh standing in darkness, riddled with grievous injuries, bathing in his own blood, yet holding the torn golden page close to his chest. One of his three heads was destroyed. As for the remaining two heads, one suffered a heavy injury, and the other bore an exhausted expression.
The murals ended there, and the glyphs also returned to normal, as if they were nothing but ordinary lines, shapes, and symbols.
Alex took a deep breath and stood still while staring at the murals for a long time. His heartbeat grew heavy for a moment. He was able to calm down only after a few minutes.
He didn't know why these walls depicted the scene of that great war and Vor'kesh's struggle. But he was sure that the matter was not as simple as it appeared on the surface.
This place must have something to do with Vor'kesh.
As for that golden paper, as long as Alex looks at that paper, he can feel the Chaos Energy within his body growing restless. It was obvious his Chaos Energy was reacting to that golden paper.
Alex suddenly had a guess in his heart. He thought for a moment and then decided to test his guess. Slowly, he raised his hand and released a few wisps of Chaos Energy. He carefully guided them toward the glyph of the golden page.
The moment he released those wisps of Chaos Energy, they trembled. Suddenly, they broke free from Alex's control and rushed forward on their own.
Alex's eyes widened in surprise. This time, he clearly felt the connection between his Chaos Energy being forcefully severed by an unknown force that appeared out of nowhere. However, what surprised him the most was that those wisps of Chaos Energy didn't move toward the complete golden page carved on the wall. They actually turned sharply in the air and shot directly into the smaller torn page held by Vor'kesh in the mural.
Alex's heart trembled in astonishment. He had been ready for his Chaos Energy to vanish, but he hadn't expected it to change direction like that.
He saw as the wisps of Chaos Energy turned and shot towards the torn piece of golden paper in the mural, that mural actually glowed faintly and vibrated a little. Then it absorbed swiftly those wisps of Chaos Energy.
Taking a deep breath, Alex calmed his restless mind. He then walked closer until he stood directly in front of the torn page depicted in the mural. Raising his hand again, he released more Chaos Energy.
The result was immediate. He saw the mural vibrating violently. The carved page glowed faintly, and every bit of Chaos Energy Alex released was sucked inside. What is more, the absorption grew faster and faster with each passing second.
At first, Alex was still able to control everything. But after a minute, the mural seemed to awaken fully. A strong suction force burst out, latching onto Alex like invisible chains. His eyes widened as Chaos Energy was pulled directly from his body forcefully.
"Urgh!"
Alex gritted his teeth as pain spread through his body. His face twisted a little as veins bulged on his forehead. The suction force erupting from the torn piece of the golden page's mural was terrifying. He could feel his Chaos Energy leaking out uncontrollably, like water pouring out of a broken jar.
As the mural absorbed Chaos Energy, it started glowing brighter and brighter. The mural was feeding on Alex's Chaos Energy. And then, a blinding golden light erupted from the mural.
