Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might
Chapter 104 - 104 104 Dog Blood
104: Chapter 104: Dog Blood 104: Chapter 104: Dog Blood Leon sprawled on the balcony of Dome Castle and dozed off, still unable to figure out what game that Blue Dragon was playing.
So far, he knew that his Catastrophe Blade had not let him down, rewarding his effort to find materials in the Dark Territory and the Evil Flame Fire Giant at Black Volcano.
Paired with the Shadow-breaking Strike, it could even cut off the Blue Dragon’s horn with a single sword stroke.
Considering that he had chopped off the Blue Dragon’s horn, he should have the upper hand in that battle.
This meant his fighting power could now surpass that of an Adult Blue Dragon, although it was just a Blue Dragon that had recently reached adulthood…
Teenage dragons were already so strong, who knows how powerful they would become once they were fully grown.
Leon raised a claw and scratched his head, the rows of horns along his cheeks and under his jaw reminding him that he had been in this world for a decade or two.
For many protagonists of novels, that was already enough time to achieve fame and success.
Seemed like it wasn’t such a big deal after all.
Anyway, he had just fought a battle.
Although the actual fight wasn’t too long, there was quite a bit of drawn-out aerial combat…
It is said that when two hostile dragons clash, they often spend minutes, or even hours circling each other, roaring from afar.
It turned out to be true, and Leon really felt somewhat tired.
Leon yawned, thinking of taking a nap, at least to rest for a short while.
The Blue Dragon had just run away in the recent fight.
Apart from its horn missing the tip, it was hardly injured.
Leon couldn’t let his guard down, settling into a hen squat to rest with his front claws stretched out and hind claws hidden underneath his body, resembling a hen huddling over its eggs when sleeping, ready to jump into battle at any sign of disturbance.
Just as he was about to close his eyes, Leon noticed a huge Blue Dragon squatting on top of the hill next to Molten Lava Lake.
Seeing the Blue Dragon, there was no way Leon could sleep.
He immediately spread his wings and flew toward the hilltop.
According to the rules, an Adult Blue Dragon could only use its Legendary Resistance three times a day, but those rules were created for tabletop game sessions.
The real world couldn’t possibly be confined to just those standards.
With the immobilization spell proving ineffective, Leon really had no good way to deal with an enemy that was both powerful and clever, capable of flying and digging.
If possible, he didn’t want to be enemies with it.
Mainly because he had the upper hand in the recent battle.
Otherwise, Leon wouldn’t have been so easy to talk to, saying, “Why are you so stubborn?
Last time I only chopped off your horn, this time I cannot guarantee what I’ll chop off…
maybe even your head.”
“A Red Dragon using a sword, what a freak.” Dragons have a wide field of vision, and Rocas could see the broken tip of his horn from the corner of his eye.
He felt fortunate that it was only the tip that was missing, just needing a bit of polishing…
Even if it wouldn’t be as beautiful as before, it wouldn’t be much different.
“You mind your own…” Leon pulled out the Catastrophe Blade from thin air, “My sword is infused with refined gold…
Your scales are very tough, but can they win against refined gold?”
Although Rocas had thought that such a Red Dragon wouldn’t be affected by Frightening Majesty, it turned out to be completely ineffective, meaning they had to fight fiercely and honestly…
By the grace of Empress Tiamat above, this Red Dragon was indeed strange, even stranger than Tassera.
Rocas didn’t want to fight head-on, didn’t want to get hurt, and said, “Leave this place, leave the desert.”
“I won’t leave,” Leon declared.
“I will if you defeat me.”
Rocas believed in his own combat strength.
If he went all out, he would surely defeat the Red Dragon.
There was no reason an Adult Blue Dragon couldn’t beat a teenage Red Dragon.
But certainly, he would get hurt…
He wasn’t a Troll that could regrow a severed limb in just a few days.
“Fine, if you won’t leave, then you will never have peace.” Rocas turned and left, certainly not to escape battle, but to adopt another method of combat.
Just like that, Leon finally understood why Blue Dragons were known as patient and methodical fighters, as he deeply experienced the feeling of being kited by that Magma Land Shark.
For the next few days, Leon was harassed every day by the Blue Dragon.
Who knows where it would appear from, unleashing Lightning Breath and running away whether it hit or missed, either flying off directly or digging away to escape.
Even if the Blue Dragon vanished, and Leon used Gathering Form and Scattering Energy, he couldn’t guarantee he’d catch up to the Blue Dragon and retaliate.
And even if he caught up, he couldn’t make it stay.
Where did this shameless Blue Dragon come from, sticking onto him like a clingy plaster.
Over and over again, unable to sleep well, Leon thought he couldn’t go on like this anymore and decided to heed the words of wisdom—it’s not about your punches or mine; always maintain the initiative.
“You think I don’t know where your nest is?
Isn’t it in Crystal Mountain?” Leon threatened fiercely, looking at the Blue Dragon.
“I’m just a teenage dragon with no savings, I don’t believe an Adult Dragon like you has less savings than me.”
“You can go to Crystal Mountain to find my nest, see if you can find it.” Rocas wasn’t so easily intimidated by Leon, “Do you think my nest is as openly placed as yours over Molten Lava Lake?”
“Alright alright, we’ll see.”
Leon wasn’t just bluffing; he really contemplated such a plan and, after instructing the Efreeti, took off.
Rocas watched the Red Dragon leave Dome Castle and fly into the distance.
Although he was quite confident about the entrance to his lair, he inexplicably felt uneasy and hurriedly followed.
“You won’t be able to find my nest.”
“I know of a volcano that’s perfect for you Red Dragons to build a nest, definitely better than the desert.”
“I’m not afraid of you; I just don’t want to get hurt, that’s all.”
“You’re going the wrong way.”
“Since you’re insistent on going to my lair, I can only give you a lesson.”
Leon, regardless of what Blue Dragon said, was adamant about flying toward Crystal Mountain.
He did not take too much effort to find Crystal Mountain, where massive pieces of natural crystal piled up on the low hills.
Of course, the purity of those crystals was not high; they were neither white, shiny, nor transparent.
Otherwise, they would have been mined a long time ago.
In any case, it was impossible for them to be left for a Blue Dragon that had just reached adulthood.
Leon circled above Crystal Mountain without encountering any rampant thunderstorms.
He thought to himself that this area had not yet developed regional effects due to the Blue Dragon’s long-term operations.
This indicated that Blue Dragon had not spent a long time here…
It was probably just Blue Dragon’s lack of strength.
To have regional effects around a lair, there must be a legendary Blue Dragon.
Leon flew a circle and landed on the top of a hill, finding that Blue Dragon had landed on another one.
“Right, my lair is here.
You can try to find the entrance,” Rocas laughed, thinking that he had already hidden the entrance of his lair with illusions.
Then he saw Red Dragon rub his eyes and charge directly into a crystal hill, dismissing it as if it were nothing, evidently seeing through the illusion that the hill was made of.
Leon possessed the Heavenly Eye Technique, so illusions were not so easily going to deceive him.
In fact, he could even find clues based on the magic power that created the illusions.
The only problem was that the Heavenly Eye Technique had a range limit—the closer the distance, the clearer the view; conversely, he could see nothing from too far away.
Since he wasn’t the one in a rush, Leon was not in a hurry to find Blue Dragon’s lair.
However, he quickly discovered a huge cave entrance.
Upon closer inspection, the cave was filled with various shapes of calcite crystals, either scattered on the ground, growing like bamboo shoots, or hanging from the cave ceiling like stalactites.
Leon turned his head and looked at Blue Dragon, asking, “Is this your lair?”
“It’s not,” Rocas said, without changing his expression.
“If it’s not, may I take a look inside?” Leon asked.
“You will die in there,” Rocas said solemnly, “Don’t you know this is my territory?”
“Come out, my army, the time to show your loyalty has come,” Rocas shouted from the top of the hill.
Leon looked all around, only to see a swarm of Sand Worms, Ankhegs, giant scorpions, and desperate evil hounds…
coming from all directions.
Leon waited, yet he saw no strong monsters appear.
He remembered Tassera had a group of Tlincalli as guards, paired with Air Elementals and Air Element Servants.
Unless ambushed by another dragon, no adventurer team should dream of breaking in, not to mention he had an Efreeti as a subordinate.
The fighting power of an Efreeti was not weaker than a teenage Blue Dragon.
“Is this the army you talked about?” Leon ridiculed, “Have you lived a hundred years in vain?”
That being said, at least the Blue Dragon was better off than a certain Brass Dragon, whose lair had nothing at all.
“Ants can bite an elephant to death, haven’t you heard?” Rocas’s face showed some difficulty maintaining composure.
He lifted his claw and pointed at Red Dragon, “Attack!”
Leon didn’t understand how Blue Dragon managed to command those creatures without intelligence, but that didn’t stop him from raising his neck and, after a long while, reciting the Soul Summoning Mantra.
Blue Dragon could be exempt from the effects of the Soul Summoning Mantra, but those Sand Worms, Ankhegs, giant scorpions, and desperate evil hounds could not, and immediately they began fighting each other under its influence.
Rocas timely released a Lightning Breath to interrupt Leon’s Soul Summoning Mantra, but when he turned to look at his army, they were already either dead or crippled.
“Your army is gone,” Leon said.
“Those creatures were not worth keeping alive.” Rocas flapped his wings, vowing to defend his lair to the death, “If you want to enter my lair, then you must beat me first.”
“Then bring it on,” Leon clenched the Catastrophe Blade.
“If you kill me, my family will not let you go…
Aside from my parents, I have two brothers.
Upon hearing of my death, they will definitely not just let it go,” Rocas shook his head, saying, “You Red Dragons don’t have that, right?
No parents, brothers, or sisters.”
Leon was somewhat angered by Blue Dragon’s words.
The parenting of Red Dragons was the complete opposite of Blue Dragons, one neglecting care, and the other being careful and effective parents.
He said, “I might as well kill you and leave the desert to live somewhere else.
I don’t believe your family would fight to the death for your sake.”
“If you can leave the desert, why don’t you leave now?” Rocas watched the sword in Red Dragon’s hand warily—it was that very sword that had chopped off his horn.
“Why do you insist on me leaving the desert?” Leon said, “Am I getting in the way of your affairs by staying in the desert?”
“You staying in the desert isn’t getting in my way,” Rocas pressed down his body, “Tassera is mine.”
Leon was somewhat dumbfounded, his expression twisting into something strange and comical.
He thought he had just gone through great effort to obtain the Catastrophe Blade, so the heavens kindly provided him with a powerful enemy, an Adult Blue Dragon, giving him a chance to wield a Divine weapon in all its glory.
It turns out he had just met a bootlicker, the plot taking a sudden and melodramatic turn.
