Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might
Chapter 393: 387: Disagreement
Chapter 393: Chapter 387: Disagreement
Vilakis is the lich queen of the Githyanki, having lived for over a thousand years, consuming countless Githyanki, draining their souls, and absorbing their power. Her challenge level is undoubtedly high, and Leon must grant her some respect.
Even so, it doesn’t mean that whenever Vilakis calls for him, Leon has to run obediently to the Whisper Palace. Though he might not have surpassed Vilakis yet, whether he could defeat her is uncertain, but he’s certainly on the same level as her, and he said, “I have matters to attend to now. Tomorrow, perhaps.”
Duens wanted to persuade Leon.
“You won’t change my mind,” Leon said. “I said tomorrow, so tomorrow it is.”
“Didn’t you hear what Leon said?” Salovis’s expression was not friendly, mainly due to being provoked by a young female Red Dragon just now, and another reason was her current confidence in her strength, which surpassed a Caslak squad leader. Weaklings do not deserve her respect.
Duens finally kept quiet; he didn’t want to humiliate himself.
As soon as Duens left, Salovis immediately exclaimed, “Vilakis is not a good person.”
“I know that.” Leon was quite confident in his understanding of Vilakis… No, this is just a world based on DND, it’s hard to say what kind of trick Vilakis has. In any case, he didn’t want to leave with Duens just now because he needed to figure some things out, “I need to ask you about something.”
“Go ahead and ask,” Salovis said. “I won’t charge you for it.”
“You still want to charge me?” Leon glanced sideways at Salovis.
Salovis made a face.
If not obedient, expect a hit. Salovis was quite obedient in front of Leon, so Leon quickly found out what he wanted to know and muttered to himself, “Why do you think she’s looking for me?”
“I don’t know.” Salovis lay lazily on the ground, “Just be careful.”
Salovis’s temporary lair was empty; Leon found it boring after a while.
“I, I know fun places in Tunaras.” Salovis volunteered to show Leon around Tunaras.
With Salovis as a guide, Tunaras became a lot more interesting.
The day passed like that, and Leon promptly arrived at the Whisper Palace located in the Queen’s District of Tunaras. Duens was already waiting there for him.
When he saw Vilakis, she was sitting on the Skeleton Throne, which was a powerful divine artifact, using the minds of Mind Flayers and Elder Brains defeated by her subordinates as its energy source. The throne was entirely crafted from the skeletal limbs of Mind Flayers, and the seat cushion was made from the remains of an Elder Brain.
Not only was the seat a divine artifact, the long slender silver-black Corruption Crown on her head was also a divine artifact. The Aphelomon’s Staff she held was also a divine artifact, and there was also the Dancing Sky Beheading Silver Sword and the Eye Tyrant Armor among many other pieces of magic equipment, so many that Leon was envious, leaving him no time to care about her terrifying appearance, which resembled a blackened ancient corpse.
Vilakis stroked the Aphelomon’s Staff, a staff capable of controlling Red Dragons, which, naturally, couldn’t affect Leon. It could also create an Otherworld Gate to summon an ancient Red Dragon.
“It is an honor to meet you, Queen Vilakis.” Vilakis longed to become a deity, but had never found the way, leading her to a state of inner darkness, with increasing insecurity while becoming more concerned about appearances. Her strong self-esteem would not tolerate any contempt. Leon didn’t want to create trouble unnecessarily, so he nodded slightly and took the initiative to greet her.
Vilakis sat upright on the Skeleton Throne, her pale fingers gently tapping the armrest, gazing at the human before her. Beneath the human guise lay a powerful Red Dragon, worthy of her slight concession.
“Same here, same here,” Vilakis rose slowly, “It’s a pleasure to meet you… Cliff Sword, Wind Disaster, King of Zhen.” Every time she mentioned a title, her tone subtly changed, as if weighing the gravitas behind those names.
“Just a reputation,” Leon chuckled.
He liked being straightforward and asked, “What business does Her Majesty Queen Vilakis have with me?”
In the end, he was young and impatient. With this thought, Vilakis said, “Since Lord Leon is so direct, I won’t beat around the bush; I hope we can form an alliance.”
“We’re already allies.” Honestly, Leon didn’t like Vilakis, finding her narrow-minded from the start; if she hadn’t been consuming Githyanki all this time, it could have been a very different scenario and perhaps she could truly become a god, “If you want me to help you with something, just say it directly.”
“With Lord Leon’s help, we can completely destroy those Githzerai,” Vilakis said, “Destroy those traitors’ fortresses, strongholds, and monasteries in the Chaos Sea.”
At the end of the Gith people’s brutal rebellion against the Mind Flayers, a Gith named Zeximeng gathered staunch followers during the uprising and issued a challenge to Gith itself, labeling it as evil and claiming it would lead the people into darkness and tyranny.
Thus, after overthrowing their mortal enemy, the Gith immediately plunged into a painful civil war. During the continuous conflicts, Zeximeng was killed, and his followers then called themselves Githzerai, re-establishing civilization in the Chaos Sea.
To this day, they still see each other as bitter enemies.
As expected, there was nothing else besides this incident unless an ultra-powerful Elder Brain suddenly appeared. Leon laughed, “What benefit is there in helping you deal with the Githzerai?”
“What does Lord Leon want?” Vilakis asked.
Leon scanned Vilakis again; he couldn’t use those divine artifacts, and Vilakis wouldn’t possibly hand them to him. Dealing with the Githzerai was no easy feat, and he wasn’t invincible, “Thinking about it, seems like I’m not lacking anything.”
“Are you afraid of those Githzerai?” Vilakis tried to provoke him; this tactic worked well on young Red Dragons particularly, “Reverend Menier Ag of the Zerai is indeed formidable.”
“Provocation won’t work on me.” Leon paused, “You should know that I have many Metal Dragons under me, and I don’t support internecine strife.”
Leon recalled the content from the sourcebook and said, “If you ask me, you were originally one people and should stand united. Otherwise, as long as hostility persists between the Githyanki and Githzerai, utterly defeating the initial common enemy will likely remain an unreachable goal.”
“Our affairs don’t require your advice, young one.” Vilakis still underestimated Leon, standing up at once and saying, “If they are willing to submit to me, I wouldn’t mind taking them in.”
Leon shrugged.
“You’ve taken in so many Metal Dragons, does your ruler know about this?” Vilakis sneered.
“I’m not afraid of her,” Leon replied.
“May your reign remain secure,” Vilakis waved her hand, “If your ruler wishes to trouble you, perhaps I can put in a good word for you.”
“May your rule stay strong as well,” Leon retorted.
He paused for a moment, still wanting to say something, else his thoughts wouldn’t be clear. He didn’t need to endure so much now: “Take care of your Astral Prism, and don’t let it get stolen.”
Vilakis’s pupils contracted upon hearing Leon’s words.
Leon shrugged his shoulders, suddenly remembering he had invited Tassera to the Star Realm with him. After declining, Tassera said he always stirs up a lot of trouble wherever he goes; it’s not entirely without reason.
