CHAPTER 140: INTO HIS HANDS

Andria’s POV

I ducked the first one, but before I could even exhale, I heard another whooshing sound, as an arrow burst through the air towards me. I ducked low, rolling against the dirt.

The second arrow struck the ground where I had been crouching just a moment ago.

"Damn it!" I hissed, snapping my gaze up toward the trees. "Show yourself, coward!"

Then I heard rustlings among the leaves, catching sight of the birthmark on the neck of the nameless pursuer. I noticed it wasn’t a male; the birthmark was similar to the birthmark on Tracy’s neck.

What was Tracy up to now? I thought we were done with this. "Tracy, I know that’s you, stop hiding," I called out. "You know you don’t need those arrows. Come out, let’s fight."

Athena’s growl deepened. "There!" Another arrow flew across.

I turned, trying to duck, but not fast enough.

The arrow passed right through me. I felt a sharp jolt of pain tear through me, making me wince in pain.

"Aria!" Macy screamed my name with a panic-filled voice.

"Stay back!" I shouted back at her, clutching the wound, but my voice cracked halfway. I could already feel the numbing cold crawling up my spine.

The arrow was laced with a wolf’s bane. My fingers trembled as Athena got weakened. I shifted immediately, almost slumping to the ground, but then a hand held me before I hit the ground.

I looked up, and my eyes locked with Kaelric’s.

"You are safe now," he said reassuringly. Tracy had stopped shooting the arrows, and the wood was almost silent, save for the whistle of the birds.

I let myself slump into Kaelric’s arm as I couldn’t bear the steering pain from the wolf’s bane.

****************************

I woke up to distorted sounds; the room seemed to be spinning around me.

I tried to get up, but I winced. My sides still ache from the stab, although the scar was suddenly gone thanks to being a vampire.

It was as if the healing was taking its toll on me because I felt weaker than I’ve felt before.

Slowly, my eyes adjusted to the environment, and my blurry vision began to dissipate.

Where was I? I sure wasn’t in my room, so where is this?

My questions were answered almost immediately when I heard his voice.

"Are you up already?" Sir Kaelric’s voice came out from the corner of the room.

"Didn’t know you would even recover as fast as you did. The arrow wasn’t just poisoned with wolf’s bane, but also with a wolf’s bane extract, which is also very harmful to vampires.

It doesn’t harm the vampire as much as the wolf, but its pain is intense enough to weaken the vampire’s strength momentarily.

The attacker intended to kill your wolf because with the wolf’s bane extract, your wolf could instantly die if your wolf isn’t strong enough to endure the pain."

He paused, not even turning his head from his study table.

"But you see, you are one lucky hybrid, what was meant to kill your wolf and even weaken your vampire couldn’t. Your vampire side is stronger than you can imagine; it has rapid healing strength.

It has synced with your wolf’s side and has helped your wolf heal faster than it could have. You might experience dizziness and weakness for now, because the healing process is still on."

I looked towards the bedside table, and I saw a bottle of potion. It wasn’t until now that I cared to look at myself, and I noticed I was almost naked, save for his top hanging on my body.

My head suddenly snapped towards his direction. As if he had read my mind, he blurted out. "Nothing happened, you shifted out of your wolf skin and fell naked into my hands," he teased.

"Was tempted, seriously tempted to take you then, but that will make me a necrophile and I don’t do corpses. So no, you are safe for now. Although now that you are awake, something wild could happen," he said, grinding his jaw, his eyes hooded with desire.

"So what is this?" I asked, my eyes darting towards the direction of the bottle of potion.

"Yes, that. It is the vitae draught, a potion that strengthens your vampire side so that it could help your wolf heal faster. Although the potion didn’t have to do much, your wolf healed gradually on its own.

Your wolf is a strong one, could be a Lunara-blooded Alpha, first of its kind," he said, now turning finally to face me.

I felt his eyes wander from my face down to my body. I grabbed the duvet closer to my chest as a sudden feeling of embarrassment overwhelmed me.

He had seen me naked; no, he carried my naked body to his room and dressed it in one of his shirts.

I felt heat radiate through me, sending delicious sensations down to my core.

"How do you feel now?"

"Stop looking at me that way," we chorused almost at the same time, and he gave me a cute smile, before standing up from his study, not even batting an eyelash.

"Does my gaze make you desire me? My innermost desire is to tame that wild beast in you, that unyielding part of you that makes you act like you don’t want us," he sat on the side stool across me, his gaze unwavering.

"I ask again, how do you feel now?" He asked, gritting his jaw in anticipation.

I was hooked. He was doing it right; I could feel it in all the right places here in his bedroom. The scent of his room was overpowering, the smell of his body intoxicating, and his presence left me in a haze.

I wanted him to take me right here in his room and on his bed.

I swallowed hard, biting my lips as moisture gathered in my core "I feel better, much bet...ter.." I stuttered.

I was concentrating on his facial expressions and getting lost in them.

"I can smell that delicious scent from you again, even more powerful this time," he observed, sliding into his bed opposite me.

"It makes me want to have you now, and I know you want it too; your wolf betrays you. But you have to heal up first."

I wanted to tell him that I feel so much better, that he could have me, that I wished to, Athena wanted him.

We all craved him at this moment. "Fuck you feromones," I muttered under my breath.
