Chapter130

Hearing Harriet’s words, Ralph turned to Ellsworth with a smile.

“Ells, there’s still a while before dinner. Come y a couple of

games of chess with me first.”

Ellsworth put both hands in his pockets and replied cheerfully,

“Sure.”

Although he supported Harriet’s decision to divorce and hoped

it would be settled soon, as an elder, Ralph couldn’t bring up the

topic every time he saw Ellsworth. So whenever Ellsworth came

to the Chavez’s mansion, Ralph was always quite courteous.

Besides, in the end, their issues were for the two of them to

resolve themselves.

What he needed to do was show his granddaughter where he

stood, to be her strongest support.

At the chess table, Ralph and Ellsworth faced off, while Harriet

sat quietly to the side, watching. asionally, when she

couldn’t bear Ralph’s moves, she would quietly offer a

suggestion or two.

Chapter130

In the yard, Deloris was busy preparing dinner, and seeing the harmony inside the house, she couldn’t stop smiling, thinking

that life should always be like this.

She thought, Miss had finally endured through the years and

was finally seeing better days.

Inside the house, as Ellsworth was deeply engrossed in his

chess game with Ralph, his phone rang.

Staring at the chessboard, Ellsworth casually took out his phone

and nced at the caller ID. Seeing that familiar number and

contact name, his expression changed instantly.

He didn’t answer right away. Looking up at Ralph, he said,

“Grandpa, I need to take this call.”

Ralph nced at Ellsworth and said nonchntly, “Go ahead, I’ll

just study the board for a bit.”

With that, Ralph turned back to the chessboard, studying it

intently.

Seeing this, Ellsworth nced at Harriet, who sat with a calm

expression, eyes fixed on the chessboard. He took the call and

went outside.

Chapter130

The call was from Kelsey.

As soon as Ellsworth answered, Kelsey’s bright voice came

through: “Ells, dinner is about to start. Come over and eat, okay?

Mom, Dad, and Grandpa were all asking about you just now.”

Kelsey’s tone made it sound as if Ellsworth were her husband.

With his left hand in his pocket and his right hand holding the

phone, Ellsworth nced back into the house. Ralph was still

studying the chessboard, and Harriet sat with her back to the

door.

She didn’t look back at him, showing no interest in who was

calling.

Staring at Harriet’s back for a long moment, Ellsworth said

quietly, “I’m noting.”

On the other end, Kelsey eximed in surprise, “Why not? There

are so many guests tonight, and the real celebration is in the evening. Grandpa is still waiting for you, and there will be a

fireworks showter. Ells, do you have something else to do?”

Looking at Harriet’s lonely figure and remembering her silent

tears just now, Ellsworth replied, “I’m having dinner at the

Chavez’s mansion with Hara and her grandfather.”

Chapter130

Since getting married, Ellsworth had rarely called Harriet ‘Hara.’

On the other end, Kelsey heard Ellsworth call her Hara and say

he was having dinner with Harriet and Ralph. Kelsey fell silent.

After a long pause, Kelsey finally asked gently, “Ells, is having

an ordinary dinner with Hara and her grandfather more

important than my grandfather’s birthday banquet?”

Withdrawing his gaze from Harriet’s deste back, Ellsworth

didn’t answer Kelsey’s question. He simply said in a t voice,

“I’m hanging up now.”

With that, he hung up the phone.

At the Graham’s vi.

Kelsey stood alone in the yard, listening to the dial tone from.

the other end. Her right hand, holding the phone, slowly dropped

from her ear, and her expression gradually dimmed.

Ellsworth had changed.

He had started to care about Harriet.

Staring nkly at the flowers and nts in the garden, Kelsey

was lost in thought for a long time, murmuring to herself,

Chapter130

“Ellsworth, if Harriet is so important, then what about me? What

am I? What about Sylvia?”

“Kel, did you call Ells? Has hee over? Grandpa is still

waiting for him to start dinner.” At that moment, Alicia came out

of the vi, asking Kelsey cheerfully.

Hearing her mother’s voice, Kelsey quicklyposed herself,

turned around with a bright smile, and said nonchntly, “Mom,

Ells has something to take care of. He won’t being tonight.

Let’s start dinner, no need to wait for him.”

Alicia asked, “Is there really so much to do on a Saturday?

What’s so important?”

Kelsey smiled and said, “With such a bigpany, of course

Ells is busy. Let’s just start dinner, don’t wait.”

Hearing Kelsey say it waspany business, Alicia took her

hand and said, “Kel, Ells is really a good kid, and he’s been so

good to you. He even gave us Voyage Group acquisition. You

mustn’t get upset with him over little things. You have to

understand how hard it is for him-he’s caught in the middle,

after all.”
