Chapter204

After Deloris’s tirade, Ellsworth said, “Amiyah is sick. I was just

paying a courtesy visit.”

Deloris was so angry sheughed, staring straight at Ellsworth

and changing her form of address. “Mr. Townsend, was it also

courtesy when you had my Miss pretend to be Ms. Graham at

the hotel to clean up your messes?”

“You haven’t even finished the divorce with my Miss, yet you

parade around with Ms. Graham. the Graham family goes

around calling you their son–inw. Is that courtesy?”

“Over the years, women havee to my Miss every so often,

asking her to step aside, and you keep making her deal with

those things. Is that courtesy?”

“You didn’t have a wedding, didn’t even buy my Miss a wedding

ring, but you wear matching rings with other women. Is that

courtesy?”

Seeing Ellsworth’s face change, Deloris didn’t back down and

continued to argue, “Mr. Townsend, I’m just a simple person,

not well–educated, but I know none of these things are in line

with traditional etiquette. None of them show respect for my

Miss.”

“Since you’ve been sneaking around with Ms. Graham for so

long, you should just get the divorce done and let Ms. Chavez

go.”

After following Ellsworth to Amiyah Graham’s ward, Deloris had

been holding in her anger until now.

So, now that she ran into Ellsworth, she said everything she

wanted to say.

If she offended him, so be it. If she was aggressive, so be it.

Harriet and Ralph were dignified people, mindful of the old ties

between the families, but she couldn’t bear it and had to speak

up for them.

Besides, as an old woman, what could Ellsworth really do to

her?

Faced with Deloris’s aggressiveness, Ellsworth just said coldly,

“Deloris, I’ve never looked down on Harriet.”

Deloris replied, “Then, Mr. Townsend, please do my Miss a favor

and get the paperwork done, let her go, so she can date and

marry like a normal person.”

She kept insisting on the divorce, but Ellsworth just kept a cold

face and ignored her.

He went straight back to Harriet’s room.

In the corridor, Deloris looked back at Ellsworth, thinking she

was d she ran into him and finally got to vent her anger.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to sleep tonight from

being so upset.

Inside the hospital room, Harriet sat motionless on the bed,

head down, flipping through her book as if nothing had

happened, her eyes calm.

When Deloris was speaking, she wasn’t far from Harriet’s room.

The door wasn’t fully closed, so Harriet heard everything.

She didn’t go out to stop Deloris or prevent her from scolding Ellsworth–not because she wanted Deloris to scold him, but because she didn’t want to y the saint and defend him at this

point.

At that moment, the hospital room door was pushed open.

Ellsworth came in.

Harriet nced at him indifferently, then looked away and

continued reading.

At this point, Ellsworth asked emotionlessly, “Did Vicente call

you?”

“Yes,” Harriet replied softly.

Harriet was calm and unruffled. Ellsworth said, “You seemed to

enjoy themotion just now, didn’t you?”

Harriet turned a page and said coolly, “If you dare to do it, why

shouldn’t others be allowed to talk about it?”

Unimpressed by her attitude, Ellsworth looked down at her.

“Harriet, do you think that just because you left the Townsend

Group and bought a house, you’re all grown up now?”

At his words, Harriet gently put down her book and looked up at

Ellsworth.

After looking at him for a while, she said calmly and steadily,

“Ellsworth, you’re not my parent. You have no right to say that to

me.”

Chapter204

“And the truth is, I’ve proven I can live well after leaving the

Townsend Group. There are many things I can do besides

working there.”

“As for the patent fees from buying my house, people came to

buy the patent even when I was still at the Townsend Group.”

“So even if I hadn’t transferred it to Gxy Innovations, even

without your additional investment, I could have cashed out.”

“But Ellsworth, even so, we’re still partners. We’re equals. And

your future returns will far exceed your investment.”

“I’ll also get even greater rewards.”

They looked into each other’s eyes. Seeing Ellsworth didn’t

respond immediately, Harriet calmly added, “If the assets you

transferred to me weren’t given willingly, I can return them to

you at any time.”

“But for those three years at the Townsend Group, I was

working. I didn’t get a free ride.”

“So it’s not about being all grown up. If you insist on using that phrase, then all I can say is, I have the confidence to leave the

Townsend Group, and I have the confidence to leave you.”
