Chapter66

She looked up at Ellsworth for a moment, then introduced him with a gentle smile, “Mr. Barton from Gxy Innovations.”

After Harriet’s introduction, Reginald reached out to greet

Ellsworth, “Mr. Townsend.”

Reginald was polite, and Ellsworth shook his hand graciously.

“Mr. Barton, you know me?”

Reginald wasn’t exactly a typical businessman; he rarely

socialized and was always focused on his own research.

It would be more urate to call hispany aboratory or

research institute rather than a business.

So Ellsworth was a bit surprised that Reginald knew him.

Noticing Ellsworth’s surprise, Reginald exined honestly,

“Harriet was a very promising student at school, but she got

married right after graduation, so I specifically looked up who

she married.”

Ellsworth smiled at that and said, “Then I must apologize for stealing someone from your alma mater.”

“You really did steal someone from the school.” Reginald thought for a moment, then said seriously, “It’s a bit of a waste

for Harriet to go to the Townsend Group. With her talent, she

could achieve much more.”

Reginald’s words caught Harriet off guard. She looked up at him

in surprise.

Ellsworth was also surprised and looked at Reginald as well.

Kelsey and a few others nearby also looked up at Reginald all at

once.

For a moment, the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Reginald’s words seemed somewhat provocative.

With everyone staring at him, Reginald finally realized he had

spoken too bluntly.

So he exined to Ellsworth, “Mr. Townsend, I didn’t mean to

look down on the Townsend Group. I just think Harriet is more

suited to technical research than management.”

Originally, no one thought he was belittling the Townsend Group, but after Reginald’s exnation, it really did sound like. he looked down on thepany and its executives.

Even though the Townsend Group was the leading enterprise in the country and Ellsworth was at the top of the rich list.

In response to Reginald’s exnation, Ellsworth put his hands in his pockets and smiled, “Mr. Barton, you’re underestimating my wife. She manages thepany very well. But I must say, your way of expressing yourself does make it easy to be misunderstood. I’ll have my assistant send you a couple of books onmunication; maybe you can learn a thing or two.”

As Ellsworth finished speaking, Harriet tugged at him, signaling

for him to say less.

Beside them, Kelsey looked up at Ellsworth.

His wife?

It was the first time Kelsey had heard Ellsworth refer to Harriet that way. Her eyes were full of shock, as well as sadness and

disappointment.

Reginald could tell Ellsworth was making a pointed remark, but he didn’t mind. Heughed generously and said, “Alright, thank

you in advance, Mr. Townsend.”

Then he turned to Harriet and said, “Harriet, if you have any

questions about the books I gave you, feel free to ask me

anytime.”

Reginald’s manner was just like it had been back at school.

“Alright, Mr. Barton, I’ll read them carefully.” Agreeing, Harriet turned to Ellsworth, seeing that he still wanted to argue with Reginald, and quickly reminded him, “It’s almost time for our flight. Let’s all get in the car.”

After Harriet spoke, Kelsey immediately walked over and took the initiative to greet Reginald, “Mr. Barton, I’m Kelsey, General Manager of Rushtar Group. Ourpany has also been researching wireless power in recent years. I hope we can have

a chance to talk after we return to Amberville.”

Reginald didn’t shake Kelsey’s hand. Instead, he turned to his assistant and asked, “Rushtar Group, Zachary, have you heard

of it?”

Zachary Kemp shook his head, “I haven’t heard of them either,

Mr. Barton.”

Kelsey looked embarrassed for a moment, but after

withdrawing her hand, she quickly regained herposure and

smiled as she handed Reginald a business card. “Mr. Barton,

this is my card. You can learn more about ourpany when

you have time.”

“Alright. Taking the card from Kelsey, Reginald immediately

handed it to his assistant, who put it away for him.

“Mr. Townsend, Ms. Chavez, we’ll get in the car first. Let’s keep

in touch.”

“Mr. Townsend, we’ll be going ahead,”

After exchanging farewells, everyone got into their cars and

headed to the airport.

Harriet and Ellsworth were riding in a Mercedes van. After they

got into the back seat, and as Noel was getting into the front

passenger seat, Ellsworth spoke up without any hesitation.

He asked Harriet in a calm voice, “Harriet, why did you pull me

just now? Are you defending Reginald?”

“That’s not what I meant,” Harriet said, then exined gently,

“Reginald is a researcher. He’s straightforward and doesn’t

understand social niceties. I just think there’s no need for you

to make a big deal out of it or take it so seriously.”
