Chapter86

After Harriet returned to her office, people were still gossiping about Ellsworth’s scandal from the night before, specting with great interest whether Harriet would eventually ept a three-person rtionship.

Standing inside her office, looking at the ce where she had worked for three years and remembering all the overtime she had put in, Harriet raised her right hand and gently stroked her desk.

She had done her best these three years.

Even though Ellsworth had once saved her, after these three years, they were more or less even.

After that, she took off her work badge, ced it face down on the desk, packed up a few things, and quietly left thepany with a bag in hand.

She didn’t disturb anyone.

Since Ellsworth wasn’t at thepany, the HR manager didn’t dare say a word about Harriet’s resignation. He locked her

resignation letter in the safe, nning to wait for Ellsworth’s return before making any decisions.

After handing in her resignation, Harriet went to stay at the Chavez mansion with Ralph for a few days.

During that time, Harriet called Gxy Innovations to say she’d report for work next Monday. They were delighted and told her they’d be waiting for her.

Ralph and Deloris were considerate, never mentioning anything about Harriet and Ellsworth, nor asking if they’d had a fight.

After a few days of rest at home, when Harriet went to report at Gxy Innovations, Ellsworth also returned from his business

trip.

He came back in a rush and immediately called a meeting of

the executives.

In the spacious conference room, Ellsworth nced around at

the familiar faces. Everyone was there except Harriet. He immediately looked up at Noel.

Harriet had always been punctual for meetings, neverte.

Noticing Ellsworth’s gaze, Noel hurried over, bent down, and

said, “Mr. Townsend.”

Seeing this, Ellsworth nced at the attendees again and asked coldly, “Didn’t you notify Harriet about the meeting?”

As soon as Ellsworth finished speaking, Noel’s face showed clear difort.

Afterwards, he leaned in and whispered in Ellsworth’s ear, “Mr. Townsend, Ms. Chavez has resigned.”

Before Ellsworth could say anything, Noel quickly exined, “I just found out myself. The resignation letter was signed by the old chairman.”

As soon as Noel finished speaking, Ellsworth’s expression darkened instantly, and he threw the documents in his hand

aside.

Ellsworth’s reaction immediately drew the attention of everyone

else in the room.

Seeing this, Noel hurriedly said, “Let’s start today’s meeting.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the meeting began.

But every time someone looked at Ellsworth, it felt as if his gaze

could kill.

At this moment, Ellsworth was indeed furious.

So, as soon as the meeting ended, Ellsworth called Colin and

asked, “Dad, did you sign Harriet’s resignation letter?”

On the other end of the line, Colin replied calmly, “Yes, I signed

it.”

Ellsworth stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, holding

his phone to his ear with his right hand, his left hand in his

pocket, staring outside in silence.

The two of them were at a stalemate for a while before Colin

spoke first. He said, “Ells, do you really want to live a good life

with Hara? If you don’t, then don’t waste her time. Go and get

the paperwork done.”

Patsy, Raymond, and Tamera were still trying to mediate, still

trying to persuade Harriet to stay, but after what Ellsworth had

done, Colin really couldn’t say anything more.

So he decided to let Harriet go.

Colin’s words urging him to let go made Ellsworth’s face

darken. He pulled the phone away from his ear and hung up.

Meanwhile, at Gxy Innovations.

Gxy Innovations wasn’t asrge as the Townsend Group.

Thepany upied several floors in a downtown office

building, had a fewbs in the tech park in the development

zone, and also owned a research base.

Harriet reported for duty at the downtown office building.

After getting familiar with thepany with a colleague, Harriet

returned to the main office just as Reginald came back from

theb.

Seeing Harriet hade to report in, Reginald greeted her with

a smile, “You’re here.”

There was no hint of unfamiliarity in his tone, as if Harriet had

been an old employee of thepany.

Harriet responded with a gentle smile, “Mr. Barton.”

Reginald said, “No need to be so formal at Gxy Innovations. If you have any questions, just ask Jonas and the others for

help, or you cane to me.”

At this point, Reginald instructed Grayson Areno beside him, “Grayson, organize a get-together tonight. Invite Zachary and the others-some Amberville University alumni. You all can help Harriet get up to speed on the developments of the past few years.”

“Sure thing, Mr. Barton.”

After chatting for a bit in the main office, everyone went back to their own offices.
