"Him? Haha, ever since returning from the duke’s estate, he had started worshipping the Divine Paladin. When I mentioned that I wanted to work for him, Boulevard was practically jumping in joy. I guess he has an almost blind faith in the Divine Paladin".

"Good. Keep working for the Divine Paladin, earn his trust. Make it so that he confides all the information to you before making any decision. Do you understand?"

"Yes father," Melissa nodded her head, a faint trace of worry appeared on her face at this moment.

"But father, was it alright to send me? What if he tries to lay his hands on me?"

"Don’t worry, I won’t expose my daughter to any danger. According to all the information I have gathered on the Divine Paladin, it says that he is not interested in women. Despite being surrounded by beautiful women and receiving courtship from numerous noblewomen, he is still unmarried and does not even go on dates"...

"You can say that Divine Paladin is solely focused on eradicating demons. If it were anyone else, I would have been worried. However, if it is that man, he won’t lay a hand on another woman’s wife. He is an embodiment of chivalry after all".

Her father wasn’t wrong, that was how the legends portrayed the Divine Paladin. However, what they didn’t know was that the current Reinhardt was not the same as the previous Reinhardt.

Now, not only a new soul resided inside that body that had been reshaped by Dioanax himself, but there was a dangerous skill mixed among the arsenal of skills that the latter casually tossed out.

However, there was no way the two would know of that, the Divine Paladin’s halo previously and even now, was that radiant.

After finishing her call, Melissa quietly went to the room assigned to her. What she failed to notice was that even though she moved away from the room, her shadow did not follow suit and materialised into something ominous and demonic.

"Keke... so I managed to sneak into the Divine Paladin’s place without the latter realising. However, that was a close call. That bastard exudes divine aura as if he is exhaling air. If that woman went any closer, I would have been found out. Thankfully, the Divine Paladin was distracted. That bastard must be sleeping by now; this is the time."

The disturbing thing with the jagged outline became a shadow again and slipped out of the window. Then, while adhering to the wall, it drew closer to the master bedroom where the Divine Paladin was.

Quickly, it entered the room through the open window and materialised inside the room.

"There he is!!"

Lying on the king size bed, completely defenceless, was a golden haired man with a tall and broad physique, a perfection of a man.

Looking at the man who was the very embodiment of divine authority, the shadowy figure scowled in disgust.

"Look at that overflowing divine aura, so hideous, so repulsive. No wonder he was able to break out of the Demon lord’s curse that the Seventh Heavenly King put on him. I need to kill this man right here and now, or else he would be a huge thorn for the forces of darkness later."

SHING... his form quivered, and his arms quickly turned into deadly claws. Next, it quickly dove towards the Divine Paladin and stabbed.

PSSH... Blood sprayed out, and a large bloody hole was opened in the chest of the latter, who finally woke up to see his demise.

Yes, that should have happened; his claws were so sharp that they could even penetrate through even reinforced steel. Compared to it, what was a human body.

So why? Why were his claws stopped in their place, unable to penetrate through the Divine Paladin’s chest?

"Master, I can no longer stay silent. This abominable thing dared to try to kill you!!"

Suddenly, a woman’s furious cry sounded out from the room.

Shocked, it turned its head around only to see a woman with green eyes, casual clothing, and daggers drawn, glaring at him.

When did she appear there? More importantly, what did she mean by those words?

"You should know something of this scale cannot kill me. I just wanted to try something out" Reinhardt slowly opened his eyes, still lying on the bed, defenceless.

"You!! You were awake?" an intense chill shot through its body, and the shadowy figure jumped back.

"Did you really think I didn’t notice your presence clinging to Melissa’s shadow earlier? I was just waiting for you to make a move".

"What?" It appeared that the divine paladin was already aware of his presence and lured him out.

"Now, why don’t you reveal your appearance?" Reinhardt got out of the bed and released a burst of divine aura that dispersed the vile demonic energy concealing the appearance of the thing.

The upper body of a tiger and the torso of a goat, the thing that appeared was...

"A Scowler?!"

Reinhardt and Karina were shocked. The former searched through his memories and recalled that the thing in front of him was a middle ranked demon, a Scowler.

It had the ability to morph a part of its body into any weapon it wished, latch onto people’s shadows without them noticin,g and use intermediate tier magic.

Most of all, these demons were quite adept at espionage and infiltrating into human societies. In the history books, they are recorded as the feelers of the demon lord and have brought down numerous kingdoms.

Named after the unique scowling face they possess... they are called the Scowlers.

Realising that it failed in its assassination, the scowler tried to beat a retreat by blowing this entire mansion using its intermediate magic. However, before it could complete its chant, Reinhardt grabbed it by the neck.

"Did you really think the likes of you could cast magic in front of my presence?"

BANG... he planted a normal punch with extreme restraint on the demon’s solar plexus, almost knocking it unconscious.
