CHAPTER 161: CHAPTER 161- TRUE KNIGHTS AND THE STATES OF TRANSCENDENCE (3)
Vangeance provoked. Since he couldn’t go out of the small circle as a part of the handicap set in place, he taunted them with his words.
"Let’s go, this is a great opportunity to learn the techniques and knowledge from the knight. This time, however, we will attack together and cover each other’s weaknesses instead of diving in alone."
All the squires nodded their heads at Rolan’s words. The example earlier was enough to make them understand where they stood. If there was any chance they had against the knight, it was by working together.
"Hoh, good choice. I was starting to feel bored since my training partners were just too weak," Vangeance grinned.
.
In the distance, watching over the entire field were Reinhardt and his Four holy Knights.
"I can finally see why the knights of your order are so strong. Each and every one of them has at least mastered the [One with the Sword] state," Zerina commented.
As the only demi human so far who was dubbed a knight by the Queen and then joined his order as a Holy Knight, it was only natural she would be here.
"Haha, of course, we are one of the Seven Great Knight Orders who were once ranked top three in the kingdom," Bob bragged with pride.
"I can naturally see why you are strong. However, is there even any meaning to this training for the knights? The ones who are benefiting from this exercise are only the squires".
Zerina quickly spotted the lapse in the training. That’s right, it was supposed to be a training where all parties benefited together, both knights and squires. However, given the difference in skill, it was just too hard to see the knights getting any benefits from it.
"No, the knights are also benefitting."
Reinhardt shook his head, "Steel bends, so must the soul. Having mastered the state of the [One with the Sword] and [Heart of the Sword], they must now bring fluidity in their rigid styles, allowing them to [Transition] to any technique even in the midst of battle at their will. Even more so if they want to master the State of [Limitless]".
It wasn’t without a reason that he initiated this training. Using the [Heaven’s Memory],
he searched through the infinite knowledge of the divine to come up with an effective plan for his squad.
"[Limitless]? What’s that?"
Zerian questioned. As a warrior herself, she had mastered the [One with the Sword] state, and she found unity in all three of her Mind, Breath, and Blade, the so called state of the [Heart of the Sword].
She could also understand why fluidity in one’s style was important. After all, in battle when one’s move is seen through, it is important to be able to transition from one technique to the other at will.
In terms of sword technique, it would be like going from the first technique to the seventh and from the seventh to the third, transitioning one’s technique at just a will. However, even she had never heard of [Limitless].
Reinhardt glanced at Bob; except for him, he was the only one here who has mastered [Limitless].
The Holy Knight gave a dry laugh and extended his hands out. After that, one could see his face contort in an intense struggle to concentrate.
CLANG... SHING... the sword from his sheath flew and landed in his hand. Huff... Bog sighed, relieved over the factthat he did it.
"So this is [Limitless] huh?" Zerina was amazed, while the other Holy Knights were jealous. They had started the training for the state of Limitless together. However, Bob managed to achieve it before them.
"When the heart is clear, the sword no longer needs the hand. [Limitless] a state of transcendence where skills and techniques can be executed with just a thought. The sword becomes the eye, body, and spirit of the knigh,t becoming in a sense unbreakable".
Reinhardt spat out the knowledge from his [Heaven’s Memory].
"Wow, so Sir Bob was this powerful?"
"Haha, my state of [Limitless] is nowhere as exaggerated as Commander is making it out to be. In fact, I have just barely scratched the surface. That said, it is thanks to commander that I was able to learn it".
"No, it had nothing to do with me; it was your own talent".
Reinhardt shook his head, not taking credit for the other party’s hard work. Bob had mastered [Limitless] before he reincarnated into this world in this body.
"Anyways, now you get it right, why I am making them do this training?"
Zerina was starting to understand now. At a glance, one wouldn’t be able to see any benefits for the knights from this training.
However, if one looked at their form which had become quite rigid from mastering the state of [One with the Sword] and [Heart of the Sword], the squires’ attacks, which were full of openings and chaotic, and which had the essene of [Transition], was something taht could show the knights what they are lacking to take the next step.
[One with the Sword], [Heart of Sword], [Transition], and finally [Limitless], coupled that with the holy skills, Zerina could see why this knight order was so strong.
.
Reinhardt and his four holy knights were observing the training when one of the battlefield suddenly caught their eyes.
In the distance, Vangeance performed a motion that had become almost like a habit for him. He spun his sword wildly in his hand, the hilt curving through his fingers. Next, he roared out the words that almost became like a chant for him.
"Your blade shall carry the weight of your vow. Your movements and your swing shall become one with your mind, breath, and blade. Finding unity in all three will remove all gaps... Come!!"
At that moment, the entire aura around the knight changed.
"Oh? Is that guy trying to perform the second technique of the [Holy Sword Art]?"
The holy knight looked curious. Though the next second they furrowed their brows.
"Why is he repeating those words like a chant? Is he perhaps trying to imitate Commander?"
