CHAPTER 181: CHAPTER 181- THE CLIFF END (2)

"With you still around and safeguarding the territory, I can feel assured that nothing will occur during my absence. Karina, I think I have said it before, too. You are my shadow, the only person in this world that I trust".

He slowly caressed the adorable and sexy female’s head. At this moment, she was pouting, happy as well as a little angry. A multitude of expressions were surfacing on her face.

In the end, his reason wore her down, and she nodded her head.

"I know that you are worried about me. However, do you remember the promise I gave you on the day I woke up from that curse?"

"Yeah, that you will be bringing me on every expedition and mission of your knight order," Karina recalled, still angry about that.

"That’s right. However, since I am breaking that, I will give you one more promise in return. A promise that I will never break, no matter what. I, Reinhardt Arcknight, Level 10 Divine Paladin, hereby declare that no matter what, I will win all my battles and come home back to you safe and sound. No matter who or what my opponent is, I will always return alive".

Karina’s eyes widened. What Reinhardt did just now was not just any promise but a knight’s oath. Something that was seen as important to them as their honor.

It is said that a knight chooses their words with care, for their words are their honor— and to them, honor mattered as much as life itself.

The fact that he gave her his oath meant that he was serious about keeping it.

"Fine." After hearing all that, how could see not trust him? As his shadow and also a woman, she wanted to believe in her man.

"Thank you," he kissed her on her forehead, an act that he used to do since childhood.

"By the way, don’t kill her. If she does anything suspicious, just keep an eye and report it all to me. I’ll deal with her when I come back."

He had to stress the last part because after yesterday’s event where Melissa drugged him, she was almost about to kill her.

The Mad Blade did not care who or what status the other person had; if she was determined or saw them as a threat to Reinhardt, she would kill them regardless. This was also the reason why she was feared as the most dangerous assassin in the kingdom and even feared in the lands beyond.

"I cannot guarantee".

"Haha, well that much is enough".

.

Reinhardt appeared inside the new headquarters of the Order of the Temple of Light. As it was constructed with grandeur and features in mind, it looked quite stately and big, an upgrade from their previous base.

"Commander," his presence quickly attracted the attention of the knights present. Each one came up to him and saluted mannerly.

Reinhardt acknowledged all of them before commanding in a loud and authoritative voice. "Gather everyone at the training grounds outside. I have an announcement to make".

The knights nodded and hurriedly left to execute his orders. Although they didn’t know what this announcement was about, they could vaguely feel that something big was going on.

Soon, all the members of the Order of the Temple of Light gathered on the training grounds at his order. Reinhardt stood before them, his presence overwhelming all noise and view from the surroundings.

"Rejoice, we have a mission, everyone!"

SILENCE~ after he spoke those words, it was as if the world had gone deaf, all noise stopped for a second.

WHOAA... Then, right after, the yells and screams of excitement came out of the knights. They made fists, raised their hands up in victory, or fist bumped each other. The members of the Order of the Temple of Light showed various kinds of reaction.

Looking at them, he couldn’t help but remember his own expression, the one on which Melissa commented. Looks like all knights really were the same.

While community work and living a fulfilling life like this was not bad, it really couldn’t match up to the excitement of doing missions and going on expeditions. After all, fighting and upholding justice were what they had been training for their whole life.

Take that away, and they might not feel that good. The reaction right now was a perfect example. There was no knight in his order who was not excited.

"The orders came from her Majesty the queen herself. The mission..." He started briefing them about the contents of the scroll and the decision he had made.

"As this is a high priority mission, we will move by this evening. Everyone, pack your bags and necessities".

And so, the members hurriedly started packing their bags. As knights and squires of one of the Seven Great Knight Orders, it was drilled into them during training to be ready for any and all situations.

It was the basics of the basics that even the recruits go through. As such, it didn’t take long for them to get ready. By the time it was high afternoon, they were all ready and on top of their warhorses.

"I leave things in your hands. There might be some trouble after we leave, so be careful," Reinhardt spoke towards one of his adjutants, Grey, and the acting Vice Commander Ryley.

Since he was taking most of the knights, squires, and recruits with him, it left the city in a rather precarious situation. Especially when it was just starting to slowly build itself up.

"Haha, don’t worry, Commander. You can leave everything in the Snowpoint City to us. You only think of the mission before us and bringing these fellows with bright faces alive and well."

As someone who drew the unlucky straw, the duty of remaining behind and patrolling the city fell on him and a few others. They were all looking at the ones who were going for the expedition with jealousy.

"Alright then, we are off".

And so, leading the members of the temple of light, Reinhardt and the order, quickly disappeared out of the city.
