One of those encounters had them cross paths with an assassin so talented and strong that she could single handedly handle the knights of the order without letting anyone past her.

Missioned with the task to find out the whereabouts of the Demonic Curse that had been spreading around in the town, they had no time to be stopped by a child. And so, Reinhardt had to step up personally.

After a fierce fight, although he defeated her, she somehow managed to get away. After that, during their mission, they had to face her many times.

That was also when they learned about her actions and her title. As it turned out, the girl they faced was extremely infamous around these parts of the land. Her extreme elusiveness and deadly attacks terrorized the entire town, no, the whole barony, leading up to her getting the title of Mad Blade.

Of course, this infamous title would later spread throughout the whole kingdom after she joined Reinhardt. Nevertheless, at that point in time, she was just another enemy of Reinhardt and the Temple of Light.

During that long expedition, they finally identified the source curse and tracked down the Organisation that was creating the Demonic Curse.

The brutal battle with the organisation lasted for over a month, during which they had to fight numerous artificially strengthened common people.

Though at the end, the Temple of Light managed to locate their headquarters and breach inside. However, for some reason, all the research and data from the lab was gone along with all the test subjects.

The only one that remained was a girl who was heavily injured and couldn’t be moved out of the glass cylinder. The Mad Blade, who was abandoned by the organisation.

After the Temple of Light had captured her, it was decided that she would be moved to the capital’s research centre, where the researchers would study her and investigate what the organisation was up to.

Of course, that kind of life was no different than being dead. After being controlled by the organisation, she was now being used as a lab rat by some other people who wanted to learn about the secrets of the Demonic Curse.

Or so would have happened if not for Reinhardt, who as a reward for the countless merits he achieved for the crown and the kingdom, asked to take custody of her.

Given his status and background at that time, even the king and the council of elders could not refuse him. At the end, after a hot debate, he was given partial custody of her on the grounds that the Temple of Light clean up after what they started.. i.e.. to track down and defeat the organisation using the Demonic Curse.

Reinhardt slowly came back to himself as he digested the story. Although it was obvious, but the girl in the story was none other than Karina, the name that was given to her by Reinhardt.
