CHAPTER 84: CHAPTER 84- THE RECRUITS AND THE TWO WOLF KIN BOYS (2)

Back at the place of the incident, Kevin dragged his tired body towards his comrades. After seeing that they were okay, he approached the other party involved in all of this. The demi humans or more precisely, the Therianthrope.

"Are you two alright?"

The two wolf kin boys growled at the hand extended towards them.

"Don’t try to get close to us. You are a human just like those people"...

"We don’t trust humans".

"Hmm, it’s fine if you don’t trust us. However, I need you to come with us and spill everything that you know" Gwen interjected, causing the Therianthrope boys to become even more guarded.

"I knew it, you are trying to take us away too. Humans cannot be trusted"...

"Give me my sister... Grrrr".

Hostility flared, and it seemed like a fight would break out any second.

"Wait... wait.. all of you." Kevin stepped in the middle, trying to diffuse the situation.

"I’m sorry for what those humans did to you. However, we are different. We don’t want to harm you. In fact, I think I know you two. We are from the Order of the Temple of Light. We came to the Toto village to fight the demon, remember?"

Kevin recognised the two wolf boys from that time. However, it seemed like the latter didn’t.

"You were there with those knights? Are you telling me that you are not our enemy?"

"That’s right, so please calm down and tell us everything that occurred here. If you don’t tell us anything, we cannot help you".

Maybe because his words got through to the two demi humans, they settled down a little.

"Alright, we will come with you. But you need to promise me something".

"What is it?"

"Save our sister and other clansmen. Those people, they kidnapped our people".

"What?" Kevin widened his eyes. He was at the scene when the fight broke out, but he didn’t see those humans carrying anything on them though.

The wolf boys pointed at their nose "We from the Therianthrope race are extremely good at tracking. We never forget a scent we once smell. Those people, they had the scent of my sister".

It appeared that the demi humans weren’t lying. Kevin nodded his head. If those people had really kidnapped clansmen from their tribe, then it needed to be investigated. Hence, he decided to bring them back to their base for more interrogation.

"Hmph, giving us so much trouble. You should have done that from the start" Gwen snorted, brushing her hair back.

GRRR... the two boys growled, clearly they disliked her.

"So that’s how the situation wraps up huh?" Reinhardt muttered to himself before returning back.

By the time he returned, Verdia and Miranda were already done shopping and were waiting for him near the carriage.

"Young master Reinhardt, you look troubled. What is going on?" Miranda called out to him.

He looked at their concerned faces before shaking his head "It’s nothing, just some work. It’s getting late, let’s return back to the mansion".

The two ladies nodded their heads. Although he said it’s nothing to not worry them, they could tell that something was up. Or else Reinhardt, who was supposed to act as their escort, wouldn’t have left them.

After dropping the two of them at the mansion, he headed for the Temple of Light. The situation must have also reached everyone, as all the knights were decked out in their full gear.

As soon as Reinhardt appeared, the high ranking knights came up to him to report.

"How bad is the situation?"

"Very bad, it looks like quite a few demi humans were kidnapped. Most of them females, some males" Bob reported.

"Do we know what happened to those demi humans who were kidnapped?"

The holy knights shook their heads.

"What of the demi humans. Any movement from them?"

Their clansmen were kidnapped; there is no way the demi humans won’t respond. Zerina might try to dissuade them from doing anything rash. However, there was no guarantee. In every clan and group, there were bound to be some radical fellows. He needed to solve the situation before it became ugly.

"Marcus, lead some knights and head over to the demi humans village to explain the situation to Zerina. Apprehend anyone trying to enter their village sneakily".

"You got it, Commander."

Marcus who was called out, was one of the few Holy Knights of the Order, a level 8 knight. On Reinhardt’s order, he led some level 7 knights and a few others and headed for the demi human village.

"Commander, what should we do?" Bob and the others questioned.

"Let’s wait, I sent Karina and some people from my house to investigate this whole thing. Unless we know the whole picture and who the parties involved are, we cannot move carelessly. Send orders to every knight and recruit on the night guard and patrol duty. They need to be extra cautious and vigilant today".

"Yes!!" the knights roared in unison.

Time passed by, and it was already midnight. Reinhardt and the knights waited by the lobby of the Temple. Keeping her word, Karina arrived before the five hour window was over.

"Master, I’m back!" She kneeled on one knee. She wasn’t alone. Assassins and Guards employed by his household also fell on their knees and announced their return.

"So, what did you find?" Karina nodded and reported their findings. As it turns out, the news of demi humans living in the territory of the Arcknight has spread wide and far, attracting some people with ill intentions.

Demi humans from the village have started going missing since a few days ago. Most or almost all of them were those who came to the city to trade and got separated.

After a deep investigation, Karina found that the demi humans didn’t just disappear but were actually being kidnapped and transported to somewhere else.

"The people who are involved in this are the Adventurers’ guild and some gangs. Since demi humans fetch a hefty sum of money, there are missions being assigned for capturing demi humans, especially females."
