The Alpha King And His Omega
Chapter 86 - 086
CHAPTER 86: 086
When Tristan woke up again, he wasn’t immobile or weak but was feeling empty. As if a part of him was gone.
He could recall he saw Alpha Mitch at the door but he can’t tell if it was a dream or a hallucination.
"What happened to me?" He thought and sat up but a piercing pain and discomfort shot through his lower abdomen. Causing him to wince in pain.
He frowned and put a hand over his stomach, he noticed a large bandage there.
The door opened as he was about to touch it.
"Don’t touch it". The nurse that came to check on him cautioned gently.
She gently pushed him back to lay down on his back.
"What happened?
Why am I ...here?" He asked, looking around the strange room.
He has no recollection of how he got there and his last consciousness was at the river.
"You are at the hospital". She said simply as she focused on what she was doing. Her simple response made him more scared.
"Hospital?
Why?"
He thought in confusion and proceeded to ask her why.
"What happened?
What am I doing here?" Tristan asked in panic, he was not feeling any pain on any part of his body.
"You still need to rest, your relatives are outside the door and I would tell them to come in but just for a few minutes". She replied and totally ignored his question.
He was appalled by her evasion till she left.
Less than a minute after the door opened again, carefully.
Mariah’s head popped inside and Tristan felt relieved to see a familiar face.
Mariah hesitated at the door and turned back to her Mother.
"He is really awake, I-i don’t want to go inside now". Mariah said nervously.
Her Mom nodded in understanding and walked past her inside the room.
She knew the Omega would be feeling confused and a little lost.
She was also confused and sad but what happened is a done deal and they need to deal with the aftermath.
She was also silently angry at Alpha Mitch because he left the hospital without a backward look at the Omega that needed him right now.
"How are you feeling now?" She asked in her usual soft voice and went to sit beside him on the bed.
Tristan looked at her with a frown, he was beginning to have a bad feeling creep up his gut.
"I’m okay". He replied in a voice barely above a whisper as he studied her face.
"Are you feeling any pain?
You would, if you are feeling uncomfortable-
"Can you also not do this?
What happened to me?!" Tristan yelled in a loud voice causing her to flinch.
"You- I..."
She stumbled on words and her eyes clouded with tears.
She held his hand and her gaze traveled to his stomach with a sad expression.
Something clicked in Tristan’s mind.
"You had a miscarriage". She finally said a low voice and looked at him.
Tristan’s mouth opened and closed as he felt a sudden feeling of emptiness.
His hands went cold and the world around faded.
He went numb for a few minutes and just stared blankly ahead until he heard his name.
He slowly came back to reality and turned to her.
A sudden pain squeezed at his heart and he gasped.
His eyes welled up and tears ran the corners of his eyes.
Turning away from her, he silently sobbed the loss of a life that had become a part of him for weeks.

Mariah and Nita anxiously waited for the door to open and when it did they both stood up.
"How is he doing?" Mariah asked her Mom, breaking the stifling silence.
"He is not good. Where is Mitch". She asked, feeling tired and angry at him.
"I will look for him". Mariah offered and ran off immediately.
She didn’t have to look far because when she entered his study she met him standing by the window.
She approached him carefully and made minimum sounds.
"He is awake now. Mom wants you to come there". She said in a measured voice.
She wanted to yell at him instead but chose to understand and not make him feel worse. She has never witnessed this happen to anyone before.
She could feel the tension radiate off him in waves.
"Mitch". Mariah called as he had ignored for a few minutes. She would have left him alone but he needed to be at the hospital.
Tristan is awake and he is supposed to be there right now.
"Leave". Mitch said in a low voice.
With his back turned at her she could tell the sadness in the way his shoulders slumped forward. And the room was gloomy and dark as if it was empathizing with him.
She turned around and left after a few minutes as she had done all she could do. She cannot coerce or force him.
They were at the hospital looking over Tristan when he arrived a while later.
They all left immediately he walked inside the room and his eyes were on his mate.
He didn’t even notice or acknowledge and only went towards him.
Alpha Mitch paused and stared at his Omega’s turned back for a few minutes before he walked to the other side his face was.
The soft sobs that were coming from him made him kneel by the bed and pulled him into his arms. He stayed that way for a few minutes as he was at a loss on what to say to him. He swallowed a few times and still could not say anything.
He had been blinded by the feeling of betrayal that he had left earlier but he had realised how stupid he was. That was irrational of him.
No words were said as he wrapped his arms around him. And his eyes also filled up with tears as he continued to listen to him cry in his arms.
How could he not have noticed all these while. He must have been scared alone.
He thought as he rocked him and whispered to him to calm him down.
After almost two hours he finally stopped crying and slept off, his soft snores was the evidence that he was asleep.
Alpha Mitch stood up and wiped the tears from his face and tucked him. His swollen face and puffy face made his heart ache.
Only Nita was outside when he left the room to see the doctor.
"Go back to the pack house to get some rest". He said to her and continued towards the doctor’s office.
Nita looked at him with a sad expression, she sighed and left.
The doctor looked up from a file he was reading immediately when the door opened.
He sighed and nodded at him.
"Welcome Alpha". He said politely.
"What caused it?" Alpha Mitch asked coldly as he sat down uneasily.
The doctor closed the files before him and turned his attention to the Alpha.
"His health isn’t good, even if this didn’t happen now he will not be able to carry it to full term". The doctor explained.
Alpha Mitch frowned, he wasn’t expecting the reason to be serious.
"You need to be close to him now. He will be discharged tomorrow". The doctor concluded and the Alpha nodded absentmindedly.
When Tristan woke up again, he felt a pair of strong arms around him.
He felt his eyes clouded with tears again.
The pain weighed down heavily on him like a dark cloud.
"Are you awake?" Alpha Mitch’s voice sounded in his ears. Tristan stiffened as he had thought he was asleep.
He does not know how to face him, he had kept the secret until the sad end.
His guilt was as great as his sadness, maybe if the Alpha had known maybe what happened wouldn’t have happened.
"I’m sorry". Tristan said softly in a choked voice.
Alpha Mitch went silent and his arms tightened around him.
"I am also sorry". Alpha Mitch replied.
"I should have known, I didn’t pay more attention." He continued tenderly.
His words brought tears to Tristan’s eyes, he wasn’t expecting him to forgive him anytime soon or even take the blame.
Although they both laid in each other’s arms their thoughts are miles apart, one was feeling sad and empty while one was blaming himself.
Tristan woke up later in the night hungry, the smell of freshly made food made his stomach grumble.
He looked up to see Nita and Mariah whispering among themselves and the Alpha was not in the room.
"You are awake, are you hungry?" Mariah asked.
"No, he must be hungry". Nita corrected and immediately brought the tray of food towards him.
Tristan nodded and he tried to sit up.
He was starting to feel pains in his lower stomach and frowned.
"It hurts". He muttered under his breath.
"Should we get the doctor?" Mariah asked softly but he shook his head and looked at the food.
