CHAPTER 87: 087

SIX MONTHS LATER

Inside a hidden villa outside the pack’s territory.

Adriana trembled as she walked the short distance of the hallway.

She has been like that for a month now, after the accident that almost claimed her life, she was learning to walk again. She had also spent months bed ridden.

One step after the other, she was fortunate to have lost her life because she would have bled to death if she had not been found.

Hence within her lived a burning hatred now, one that grew every passing day.

Hatred for someone she was once obsessed with but not anymore.

"Slow down". Her physio therapist cautioned and she cussed at him in anger.

"If I slow down, I will fall down!" She said through gritted teeth as she paused.

Her voice was laced with pain and anger, fueled by the need to get back at the cause of her problem.

That night many months ago, after the accident she had spent almost thirty minutes on the ground bleeding away before she was found.

"If you can’t take instructions then, you should fall". An authoritative voice replied from the end of the hallway.

Adriana looked up at the sound of his voice, she took a minute to study him.

She wouldn’t have expected him to show and save her that night, she looked down again at her limbs as it could no longer carry most of her weight.

"When are you planning to start?

I can no longer take it, I need to see him suffer too!" She yelled on top of her voice.

"Be patient, you will be pacified soon". He replied with his arms folded and he stood for a while watching her struggle as she learnt how to walk again.

At the end of the hallway after an hour he shook her his head as she snapped at the person that held her from falling face first to the ground.

During the last few months, Tristan had slowly forgotten the pain of what happened but the bond between him and the Alpha continued to grow with each passing day.

He has taken his studies seriously and he is currently preparing for his final examinations.

"Aren’t you hungry?

Let’s go for lunch". Nita leaned over and whispered in his ear as they maintained decorum in the library.

He looked at her and she signalled towards the exit, careful not to make any noise.

Tristan nodded and they both exited the library but bumped into someone they weren’t expecting.

"Hi Trevor". Nita said, cheerfully trying to break the ice as he fixated his gaze on Tristan.

He didn’t acknowledge her and merely continued to look at the Omega as his chest heaved.

Suddenly, he held Tristan by the arm and walked away in brisk steps.

"Wait!" Nita yelled after them and she ran to catch.

Tristan didn’t bother to fight out of his hold because he had spent the last months avoiding him like a plague.

He had no choice but to do so, he is now fully mated to someone else and he does not want any false impression or raise his Alpha suspicions.

He finally stopped after they got to the secluded area after some buildings.

He backed him against the wall and stood in front of him.

In the past, Tristan would have been scared and looking for how to escape his hold but now he merely stared up at him.

"What have I done to deserve this?" Trevor asked after a minute of stare contest.

Tristan looked away and sighed.

He was feeling uncomfortable with their close proximity but he was enduring it.

He can’t keep avoiding him forever, he should make things clear and as clear as possible.

"Trevor". Tristan began in a tender voice, Trevor’s eyes narrowed.

"You have never called me by my name before". He pointed out.

"It’s a good thing I have done that now, don’t you think so?" Tristan replied.

Trevor’s face softened at his response, something was different. He was staring at the same face he had gotten used to for the last couple of years but there was a difference in it.

"It is a good thing". He replied and nodded.

He took a step back and put some space between them, he had brought him there to talk privately and he was suddenly at a loss on what to say.

"Where have you been? Why have you been avoiding me?" Trevor asked, his voice was firm and had a bit of coldness to it.

"I do not like you that way". Tristan said instead of answering his question.

Trevor was caught off-guard and he frowned in confusion.

"A few months ago I realised you like me, I confess that I had some feelings for you. Although not the way you do, I was mostly grateful for always helping me and being there when I least expected it but I’m mated to another person". Tristan concluded simply and held his gaze for a few seconds in silence before looking away.

Trevor became lost at what to say in return, his intention had been unravelled even before he made it known.

He had been careful not to scare him away or be overbearing but that didn’t work.

He will learn from his mistake next time.

He was about to respond to him before he noticed that he was standing alone, the Omega had slipped away while he was lost in thought.

He chuckled sadly to himself and also left the place.

"Where were you?

What happened?, did he do anything to you?" Nita asked in a hurry as Tristan walked towards her.

Tristan shook his head but he was not listening to her, someone was walking towards them as he immediately recognised him as his personal driver.

It would have surprised him if it was time to leave but what surprised him was that he was there earlier than usual.

"What happened?" Tristan asked eagerly.

"We are to return to the mansion immediately". He replied simply without further explanation.

Tristan and Nita exchanged a look and Tristan looked back at him.

"Okay". He nodded in understanding and got his stuff and followed him.

"Call me when you get home". Nita whispered to him before he got into the car and he nodded.

"Is Alpha Mitch in the mansion too?" Tristan asked immediately as the car started and drove out of the school premises.

"Yes". The driver replied monotonously but he looked into the rearview mirror and a dark expression flashed across his face.

Whereas in the mansion, Alpha Mitch looked at his wrist Watch for the third time in the last fifteen minutes.

It was way past the time Tristan gets back from school but he hasn’t arrived.

He was never late and used at most ten minutes whenever he was delayed.

He picked up his phone and dialled his number, the call didn’t ring at all and went straight to voicemail.

He immediately called for Gale as an uneasy feeling crept up his mind.

"Is Tristan back?" He asked as soon as Gale walked inside his study.

Gale stifled a groan and replied in the most respectful way.

"No, Alpha.

I think they were delayed". He replied and Alpha Mitch gestured for him to leave.

Things started getting serious when the sky was beginning to darken and he was yet to return.

The men outside the mansion got startled as the Alpha drove past them at a crazy speed that could snap a person’s neck.

Alpha Mitch didn’t even notice the greatness of his speed as he drove the car at an insane speed with dust trailing off the car’s behind.

His eyes were focused on the road and his mind was on the Omega.

"I shouldn’t have waited this long," he thought in regret as the speed of the car continued to increase.

When he got to the school it was already night and he didn’t bother waiting as he could not see his car anywhere in sight.

Heading for Nita’s house, he got there in less than thirty minutes and the Omega acted like she had seen a ghost when she opened the door.

"Is Tristan here?" Alpha Mitch asked breathlessly and looked behind her into the apartment.

"Here?

No!, he left school hours ago!" She replied in disbelief.

Alpha Mitch’s gaze snapped to her and he froze upon hearing that.

"He left with who?".

He asked as he tried to remain calm even if he was almost running wild inside.

"His usual driver, although he came a little earlier". Nita replied, her brows pulling together as she remembered that Tristan had complained about it.

"Fuck!" Alpha Mitch cussed and turned to leave.

"Wait!" Nita screamed after him.

"His driver said they needed to return to the mansion immediately, didn’t he return?" She asked.

Alpha Mitch’s mind went to the driver, his fear grew rapidly.

As he started the car again, he called Gale’s number on his phone.

"What are you doing?!" He yelled in frustration as the call rang a couple of times and it was not answered.
