The Alpha's Stripper Mate: Sold To Be His.
Chapter 84
CHAPTER 84: 84
XAVIER
I heard a knock on my door and I asked whoever it was to come in and I saw the old man walk in and he wore a frown on his face.
"Are you here with the answer to the questions I asked you earlier?" I asked him with expectation, but he looked down. His face was sad.
"Is there something else going on that I need to know about?" I asked him, and he bowed slightly.
"I don’t mean to disturb you, but there have been some happenings in the pack lately that have filled me with so much sadness, and it has made me stop hearing from the goddess." My eyes widened, and I sat up.
My gaze on the man as I tried to understand what he meant.
"Are you trying to say that feeling certain emotions can make you not hear from the goddess?" I asked, trying to process what I heard.
He nodded.
"It does." He replied, still with the sadness on his face.
"What is it that has been happening recently that is making you not hear from the goddess? As you can see, I am eagerly waiting for the answers to those questions I asked you back then so we can move forward." I asked him, and he nodded.
"It is so sad, but your own people are the ones doing this... I have been facing some disrespect and bullying from Nylah and her friend. They laugh at me when they see me passing by and often give side talks that are loud enough for me to hear. I usually ignored them, but the last straw broke the camel’s back." He paused and looked at me as if to check if I was following, and I was, of course.
"I went to the kitchen to get my food, and right there in the midst of the kitchen staff, they both humiliated and laughed at me like I was a loser with a plague. I shouldn’t be looked down on because I have a very rare gift. The future of this pack rests on my shoulders, and I should be treated accordingly."
I was already fuming and disappointed by the time that he was done.
I was surprised that Nylah would stoop so low to bully an old man who had nothing, not even his wolf, all because she was envious of him and his gift or because she didn’t believe him.
"This is a shock to me. And it is totally unacceptable. It is hard to believe that Nylah would do something like that, considering that she also went through the bullies in the pack before she finally settled. I will make sure to remind her how it feels to be hated and unaccepted by others." I assured the old man who finally let a smile across his face at my decision.
I didn’t know what came over me or why, but I felt a sudden, strong hatred for Nylah immediately after the man told me what she had been doing to him when no one was looking.
She had let the power I gave her intoxicate her and control her into treating other people like trash, forgetting that she was picked up from the same trash too.
I decided to make sure she felt the same way she tried to make the old man feel.
Some things were simply unacceptable.
Brian walked in just as the old man was walking out, and he had a confused look on his face as he exchanged glances at me and the old man while walking in.
"What’s going on? Why is he smiling?" He asked me when he got close enough to me, and I shrugged.
"He is finally going to smile when I serve justice?" I replied, shuffling through the pile of paper on my desk.
"What do you mean by justice?" Brian asked, confused.
"Apparently, Nylah and her friend have been disrespecting him and making fun of him and because of that, he is unable to hear from the goddess concerning the beast that is hunting us and the solution to our problem which is unusual so I am going to teach them a little lesson by making them apologise publicly and sound it as a warning to the rest of the pack members to be respectful or face worse."
Brian arched his brows like he didn’t hear me correctly or he heard wrong.
"Isn’t that too harsh? Wait... are we talking about Nylah? Your Nylah," he asked with confusion written all over his face.
"Is there any other Nylah in this pack that I do not know of?" I asked, and he swallowed hard with a couple of nods.
"Uhm. I get your anger, but don’t you think that is harsh and humiliating? Seeing what position she holds in the pack." Brian tried to reason with me, but I wasn’t having it.
I already had my mind made up, and when she came that night sounding all sweet, I ignored her and even let her leave my chambers. And the next morning, I had my guards go wake her and her friend up and make them apologise in the centre of the pack. I couldn’t care less.
I didn’t ask after her, and I made sure to be absent from the pack most of the time, spending most of my time in the mansion and at work. And days passed. And I still felt this anger and hatred for her.
It made me want to take everything from her.
"Tell Nylah to pack her things from my room, submit her phone, and leave the pack hospital. Her friend should also leave the hospital. The advisor can handle it for the time being?" I told Brian one of the days he came to meet me at the office, and he was confused.
"What?" he asked.
"Brian, you heard me correctly. Take everything from her?" I repeated, and his confusion morphed into anger.
"What has come over you for goddess sake?!" He asked, his voice thundered in anger. It had been a long time since I’ve seen Brian angry.
"Are you just angry at her because of what the man said? How sure are you that she did what he said she did? Did you care to ask her if it was true, or did you just conclude in your head and choose to punish her for something that she might be innocent of." He barked, and I deflated almost immediately, but the anger still didn’t go away.
"Fine, if you don’t want to do what I asked you to do, you can leave it." I replied and shifted my attention to the pile of paper again.
