The Alpha's Stripper Mate: Sold To Be His.
Chapter 85
CHAPTER 85: 85
NYLAH
Xavier’s avoidance of me continued from a daily occurrence to weekly and approaching a month without seeing Xavier in his room or having conversations with him. Conversations we normally had before the old man’s issue became a thing.
Xavier was always so attentive, and he never wanted to stay away from me. Not for a minute, but now, it seemed like he was avoiding me at all costs, and as the days went by, it became unbearable for me.
The old man, on the other hand, had things going well for him in the pack. He finally got the respect of everyone, and all the pack members went to him for advice and help.
As the days went by, their trust and reliance on him grew with immeasurable bounds.
"They are going to sell their souls to him with the way things are going." Sofia commented one of the days when we saw the pack members struggling and fighting for who would go in first to see him.
I was still shocked by how the Alpha would let a stranger into the pack and give him so much power over the pack without verifying the person.
And when Sofia and I tried to object, we were humiliated in front of the crowd, and the Alpha began to treat me like I had a plague.
"I hope it doesn’t come to that." I replied to Sofia, who shifted her gaze from the desperate mob.
"I feel like running away," I said to her when we went to the pack’s hospital. The only place we were allowed access into since the public apology.
The pack’s hospital and our rooms.
"Running will not solve much. You should know that by now?" She replied to me with a firm expression.
"Running might save us." I replied. I just didn’t want to get entangled in all of this shit. I wanted a simple life, not something complicated and unstable.
"Runnibg might save us, and that is if we succeed in running ’And’ hiding, but for how long? We are not humans that can’t be sniffed out. We have our smell, and the Alpha can use it to track us." She replied.
"Good thing I haven’t felt my wolf." I smirked.
She shook her head like I wasn’t getting the point.
"Even though you manage to escape, what about me? Do you think that the Alpha would forgive me and not tag me a traitor and accomplice for helping you out? I will be spinned alive but not before I am tortured and forced to show them your location and I would rather remain here like a nobody than spoil the remaining legacy of my parents which is their good name."
Sofia’s words touched me and made me start to kill the thoughts about running away, but she was not done yet.
"Did you think about your friend? the one you said the Alpha bought a house for? If you make any funny move, don’t you think she will suffer the consequences as well?"
"Do you want that? How long can you hide? And if the old man is as true as he says he is, then the Alpha will also try to use him to find you. You can’t be gone for long, and you will end up making all our lives harder than it already is."
"Okay, okay! Geez, I have heard you already. Did you have to point out all those things to prove a point?" I asked, and she shrugged without looking at me. Her focus was on the supplies she was packing.
"I just thought to remind you of the few things that are bound to happen if you say you want to leave. I told you before that once you are in, there is no turning back." she replied, and I raised both hands up.
"Okay, fine. I won’t listen to the voice that keeps telling me to leave even though I think that all the things you have said will not happen because the Alpha doesn’t seem to be interested in me anymore." I replied, still feeling downcast.
Sofia glanced at me but didn’t say a word, and it made me feel even more useless.
"I know I shouldn’t be bothered by that, but then I feel useless in the pack since my life had been revolved around helping the Alpha lately." I complained, pouring out my frustration.
Sofia listened quietly without saying any word. She was good when it came to ranting out your frustration. She listens without obstructing you, so I feel very free talking to her.
"How was your life like before Alpha Xavier?" she asked when I finished.
The only time I told her about my life was when I came into the pack newly and I had forgotten a bit how free and exciting my life was.
Apart from the irritating men like my ex who made things hard for me, I was free as a bird.
"It was exciting." I told her, my eyes dreamy and a smile on my face.
"What made it exciting?" She asked again, her attention shifted and fixated on what she was doing.
"Dancing... I was so excited to see many people watch me and cheer me on. I was the best at what I did, and the freedom also made me excited. I could go to the beach whenever I wanted. The mall, a hotel, whatever I wanted to do. I had a life I could call mine, but now my life only revolves around one man, and he isn’t taking it easy on me." I replied.
"How about you take the chance of this opportunity he has given to you and make something for yourself?" Sofia asked again, and I stared at her with an arched brow.
"What do you mean?"
"The Alpha doesn’t pay much attention to you like he used to do, and maybe that is a good thing. Why not make use of this free time to do what you love here or find a purpose?" She asked, and I nodded thoughtfully.
"That makes sense. I will work on this." I replied with a grateful smile and helped her lift the bag she had been packing drugs into.
We were still at the pack hospital when we were told that someone came looking for me.
I was clueless as to who it was and even thought it was a wrong call.
I wasn’t close to any other person in the pack apart from Sofia, so why would someone other than her come to find me?
I went out anyway and was surprised when I saw Alpha’s brother, Rex. Standing outside the hospital waiting for me.
"Anything the matter?" I asked, but he shook his head. "Nope. Came to see you." He replied.
My arched brow arched even further at his reply.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I wanted to. Plus, my brother had been spending so much time in the office and his mansion, so I thought that he would not be spending that much time with you, and I wasn’t wrong." He stated rather proudly.
"So, what do you want?" I asked him, still clueless about why he was here.
"I just wanted to remind you that my brother is full of surprises. I told you earlier, but you ignored me, and now he has begun to show you just how cruel he can be..."
"What is this about?" I asked, blinking more times than necessary.
"You can be by my side, Nylah. We can be buddies, allies. Friends. And you will be sure to secure yourself a place in the pack." He pushed. But that was where he got things wrong.
I didn’t want a place in the pack, nor did I want to secure one. I just wanted to live a simple life and be loved like I deserve.
"That’s enough, Rex. Please leave." I replied, and he looked stunned for some seconds, staring at me in disbelief.
"What?" He asked in a whisper.
"I said you should get the hell out of this place. I am not interested in becoming any of those things you listed!" I lost my shit and he knew better than to remain standing.
He walked away, and I let out the sigh I’d been holding inside all the while.
