The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!
Chapter 64: I Just Want to Take Care of You
CHAPTER 64: CHAPTER 64: I JUST WANT TO TAKE CARE OF YOU
As soon as Conrad Sterling heard it was pig liver soup, he pushed the box in front of him aside, very clearly expressing his disdain.
Anna Thornton explained to him, "Pig liver is good for replenishing blood! You donated 400ml of blood today, so you need to eat more of this to recuperate."
"I know."
The hospital also provided him with meals to replenish blood tonight, which he refused.
Conrad Sterling has extremely high standards for food; firstly, he doesn’t eat animal organs.
Especially pig liver, no matter how good the chef, the fishy smell can’t be removed from inside out.
"I specifically asked the owner to add more scallions and cilantro; it’s not fishy at all. Want to give it a try?" Anna Thornton pushed the box back in front of him.
No need to taste it, as cilantro is also one of his aversions.
Seeing that he didn’t move, Anna Thornton boldly scooped a spoonful of soup and brought it to Conrad Sterling’s mouth, waiting for him to open up.
"Try it, the pig liver soup from this place is amazing. I even waited in line for a long time."
"Anna, take it away!"
"Just try a sip, can’t you? If after tasting, you still find it bad, then don’t drink it!"
Anna Thornton coaxed Pop the same way, but Conrad Sterling was even harder to serve than a child.
It’s partly Anna’s fault for attempting to forcefully put the spoon in his mouth when he said "take it away" for the second time.
In the past, this was how she dealt with Pop—"Will you take the medicine or not?"
"Not the medicine...oof!"
That’s how medicine was stuffed into the little one’s mouth.
But Conrad Sterling’s reaction was certainly quicker than a child’s; he directly turned away Anna’s hand and didn’t let her succeed.
Yet, their back-and-forth led to the soup spilling out of the spoon, with two drops splashing onto Conrad Sterling’s clothes.
Conrad was already feeling unwell today, putting him in a bad mood, and seeing this made him more sensitive due to his cleanliness obsession: "Anna, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"I was just trying to feed you soup," Anna replied innocently.
Judging by Conrad’s expression, he didn’t believe her sudden attentiveness could be so simple.
Anna put down the spoon, "Okay, you just asked what exactly I wanted to do, right?"
"I want to take care of you, firstly because you’re donating blood to prepare for surgery, and because no one is around you, I’m not fully assured. Even for Pop’s sake, I need to ensure you’re in good condition before surgery... And secondly, I want to take advantage of these days without other light bulbs around you—didn’t I mention pursuing you before? Cultivating feelings comes first."
Anna spoke without reservation, laying bare her small intentions.
In any case, she’s never hidden her intentions toward Conrad.
However, Conrad’s rejection of her has always been merciless: "Pick up your soup and leave!"
"Conrad, how can you be like this? I worked hard to queue for your dinner, but you won’t even try a bite and just demand me to leave? You know a gentleman, who has a little courtesy and grace, should show a normal attitude when faced with a pursuer, right? At least, express thanks or say sorry if you don’t like it."
"Gentleman?" Conrad sneered.
With Anna’s thick skin, a typical gentleman definitely couldn’t handle her.
Even without a prompt, she could always find a way out: "Luckily, I’m good-tempered and won’t take it personally!"
Anna stood up and tidily cleaned up the dining utensils on the table, "Right, your clothes are dirty—should I take them and clean them for you?"
Actually, Anna isn’t very good at laundry, so she’s just saying this to sound nice.
She thought Conrad would strongly refuse, like with the pig liver soup earlier. But unexpectedly, he started unbuttoning upon hearing her words.
Conrad Sterling unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his firm and muscular body.
"After you exit, toss this away for me." Conrad handed her his shirt.
"..." Anna didn’t want to speak at the moment, merely wanting to quietly gaze at his abs.
Conrad’s muscles paired with his new hairstyle made him too alluring.
Anna didn’t mean it, but fragments of many raunchy novels flashed in her mind at that moment, featuring protagonists who were abstinent, domineering CEOs.
"Seen enough yet? Wipe your drool first..."
Hearing this, Anna instinctively wiped with the shirt in her hand.
Who said anything about drool? This man was deliberately mocking her!
Anna regained composure and faced Conrad’s teasing eyes, unwilling to back down: "Your body is well-trained, but I’ve come from overseas. Honestly, compared to black and white people, six-pack abs are just average."
Conrad: "Can you count? It’s eight!"
"That’s not impressive either; I’ve seen ten-pack abs."
Hearing this, Conrad’s face slightly darkened, "Where did you see them?"
"Not telling you!" Anna, noticing Conrad’s keen gaze towards her, deliberately played coy, "President Sterling, aren’t you uninterested in me? Why are you so curious about this?"
Upon hearing this, Conrad immediately corrected her, "Indeed, not interested!"
"Then why did you ask just now?"
"Bored!"
Those two words were ambiguous, unsure if they were about Anna or Conrad himself.
Anyway, without waiting for Anna to retort, the man had already issued his command to leave: "Not going yet?"
"Right away!" Anna took his shirt but didn’t obey by taking the soup as well, "I’ll still bring the pig liver soup tomorrow. If you don’t like it...it’s your problem how to deal with it. Besides, I’ll be in the ward next door watching Pop, so taking care of one or two is no different, call me if you need anything."
Anna saying she wanted to take care of him, Conrad, though not responding, couldn’t help a slight twitch from his eyes.
Not needing care, that’s what President Sterling said himself.
Otherwise, with his status, wouldn’t he have many attendants to ask?
Conrad likes peace and quiet, as the residents do basic cleaning tasks at Sterling Residence, while Granny Chandler, as the housekeeper, arranges Conrad’s meals.
Other times, whenever Conrad returns to Sterling Residence, the servants habitually kept their distance.
Even the surgical consent form was signed by himself, as it’s unheard of him having any living direct relatives.
Aunt Murray is in poor health, requiring long-term institutional care, hence why Conrad has been alone for years and accustomed to it.
While the man went into the bathroom preparing to shower, he couldn’t help but instinctively glance at the mirror on the wall to check his abs.
His physique was developed with guidance from a specialized fitness coach, and eight-pack abs are the most appropriate body type.
Although ten-pack abs sound impressive, they actually aren’t attractive.
