CHAPTER 39: FIGHT

"That’s not someone who would die soon needs to know." Ling Yu’s voice was cold as she looked down on the man groaning in pain on the ground.

Ling Yu grabbed him by the collar as she jerked him. "Who sent you?"

He spat blood, laughing. "You’ll find out too... when you’re dead."

She narrowed her eyes as she felt something was wrong with the guy, as soon as he began to convulse.

"Master, get back!" Ye Qingxue shouted, recognizing that something was wrong, though it was too late because Ling Yu had already moved her stance.

Boom!

The man exploded, his body disintegrating in a blast of self-destruction.

How could Ling Yu just stay still and do nothing after finding out such a huge feat?

And she had no intention of dying before the first Gate even opened

The forest crackled with tension, the air thick with smoke and blood. As Ye Qingxue staggered back, fending off two attackers at once, the last of her strength teetered on the edge of collapse. Her arm was slashed, her foot dragged with a limp, and the strange energy the masked men wielded was too overwhelming, even for a bodyguard in training.

Just as the dagger was about to come down on Ye Qingxue, a person flashed through between them, taking Ye Qingxue to an empty space of the territory. Putting her down beneath the tree carefully, Ling Yu handed over a medical box to her.

"You did well. I’ll take care of the rest from here on, so take care of yourself."

Ling Yu had seen enough of this bullshit. Now that her people were injured, she had a legit reason to wipe out the entire team, no?

"Master, I..." Ye Qingxue stopped after trying to call out for Ling Yu. She didn’t have any reason or ability to stop her after being defeated by those men.

Ling Yu’s eyes flashed with a cold, murderous glint as she gave command to the system, prepared to get rid of those pastes. The shadows around her shimmered, swallowing her silhouette whole.

[Activate Stealth.]

She vanished in the blink of an eye. Just as those men in black were surprised at the sudden turn of events, and were frantically searching around for her.

One of them clicked his tongue and raised his hand, a pulse of dark purple energy emanating from his palm as if to scan the area with his skill and find her.

Ling Yu appeared directly behind the man with the scanning hand, her palm pressing against his neck.

"Flaming Thunder!" She roared as she kept her hand pressed firmly against his neck, the power hitting him at the right moment.

[Skill Flaming Thunder has been activated.]

A flash of heat surged, and in an instant, his body was launched forward by the sheer explosive force of fire and lightning coursing through his nerves as he screamed like a madman, in an instant, the man’s lifeforce was burned completely as he fell on his knees, before lying flat on the ground with a loud thud.

The rest turned around as they were startled. But before they could react, Ling Yu moved.

Her movements turned blurry, fast, fluid, and relentless. She dropped one man with a low sweep and crushed another’s ribs with a sharp, electrified jab to the side.

She turned toward the enemies as her eyes shimmered faintly, scanning their power and level thoroughly.

’Wreckable? What’s that?’

Ling Yu was speechless at the status of the system. It wasn’t hard to guess what was happening.

’So it’s an unauthorized system sync? No wonder I can’t see much information aside from their power level...’

That also explained why their powers were unstable. But more than that, it meant someone had been able to access the System before the gates even appeared illegally.

Her gaze turned cold as she asked, "Then, is it alright to take care of these bastards as I please?"

The use of emojis in this serious conversation made Ling Yu feel funny. But anyway, it was right about taking out the weeds.

She can go all out without intervention.

The men in black seemed to be able to sense the change in her aura, as one man lunged towards her with dual blades. Ling Yu flashed behind him in a moment; the guy didn’t even get to see her before his body went flying.

While Ling Yu took one man out, she didn’t see another one ambushing her from behind, managing to strike a wound on her arm.

"Hiss! This bastard! He sure learned well, ambushing from behind!" Ling Yu made a turn as she slashed the bastard’s throat with the hidden dagger in her sleeve before he could back off.

The wound on her arm blackened quickly, implying obviously that the weapons were coated with deadly poison.

’Good thing those assassin guys are always predictable.’

Even though the assassins used some unique skills, it was going in the same direction as Ling Yu predicted. Especially the way they started scattering after she killed five of them, along with their leader.

She didn’t even blink as a blade grazed over her shoulder, another attack incoming

Instead, she responded with a clean elbow to the attacker’s jaw, followed by a low kick that sent him flying.

But the group wasn’t giving up. They regrouped, forming a circle, now chanting something low and eerie. Strange glyphs glowed under their feet, an activation circle.

Her voice was calm but commanding, laced with an aura that made even beasts tremble.

She’ll take them out in one go.
