The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 133: Awake, Forgotten
CHAPTER 133: CHAPTER 133: AWAKE, FORGOTTEN
Kiki carried Curly into the bedroom and emerged shortly after with a ruby necklace, which she handed to Lucas Robertson.
It was a heart-shaped ruby necklace surrounded by a circle of diamonds. The gemstone was exquisitely cut; it was clearly priceless.
Lucas Robertson held the ruby necklace and asked in surprise, "Is this a thank-you gift for me? But I’m a man, I can’t wear this."
Kiki glared at Lucas Robertson. "Curly Baby is out of diapers and formula. Sell this and buy some for her."
"Use a ruby to buy diapers and formula?" Isn’t this blowing things way out of proportion?
"Yes, because I’m out of money."
All her money had been deposited into various bank accounts by Sienna Johnson, but Kiki didn’t know the passwords and couldn’t withdraw any of it. The only valuable item she possessed was this ruby necklace. Once, when they were shopping, Sienna Johnson had seen Kiki admiring it and bought it, jokingly saying it would be her dowry.
She didn’t even have a man anymore, so what use was a dowry? It was more practical to use it to buy diapers and formula for Curly Baby.
"You should keep this gem necklace as your dowry. If you run out of money, I have some."
Kiki shook her head repeatedly. "We’re unrelated to you; how could we spend your money? Sell this, give me some of the money, and keep the rest as compensation for your trouble."
Lucas Robertson felt a pang of discomfort at Kiki’s words. So, despite all his exhausting efforts and worry for them, in their eyes, he was still just an ’unrelated outsider.’
"Aren’t you and Miss Johnson also unrelated?"
"I’m Curly Baby’s Godmother; how could we be unrelated?" Kiki kissed Curly Baby’s face. Curly Baby was very close to Kiki and grinned at her. "Right, Curly Baby?"
Curly Baby gurgled in response. Kiki ’translated’ for her, "Curly Baby says yes. Oh my, you’re so smart, Curly Baby! Godmother likes you so much."
A look of exasperation crossed Lucas Robertson’s face.
"You keep the necklace. If it really gets sold and Adrian Desmond finds our location, we’ll be in trouble."
"Don’t worry. This necklace wasn’t bought by the Sixth Master for Mai. Mai bought it for me. We were shopping, and I admired it for a bit, so Mai secretly bought it and gave it to me later."
Lucas Robertson still insisted, tossing the necklace back to Kiki. "You keep it. You’re already finding it hard enough to get married. If a man knew you had such an expensive necklace, he might get carried away and impulsively agree to marry you."
"Pah! If I ever met a man like that, I’d rather stay unmarried my whole life!" Kiki spat disdainfully.
"I’m done arguing with you! Go find someone, then buy the diapers and formula!" Kiki pushed Lucas Robertson out and slammed the door with a BANG.
Lucas Robertson felt like he owed this woman a debt from a previous life. Why on earth was she ordering him around like this?
Inside the room, Kiki finally relaxed as she heard Lucas Robertson’s footsteps fading away.
"...Curly Baby, I hope Lucas Robertson doesn’t abandon us too." After all, Kiki was a delicate woman. Living in a foreign country with Curly Baby, she would be completely stuck without Lucas Robertson. Kiki didn’t have much of her own judgment; she used to listen to Sienna Johnson for everything. Now that she had to make decisions herself, it was truly difficult for her.
WAAAH... Curly Baby suddenly started to cry.
"Oh dear, did you pee again?" Kiki, already experienced, checked Curly Baby’s diaper. It wasn’t wet. "So you’re hungry!" she realized. "Wait a moment, Godmother will make you some formula."
Curly Baby was easy to take care of; as long as her diaper wasn’t wet or she wasn’t hungry, she wouldn’t cry.
Kiki prepared the formula for Curly Baby. She dripped a few drops onto her wrist to test the temperature. The skin there was very sensitive; if it didn’t feel hot, the formula was safe for the baby to drink.
"Curly Baby, your food is here."
Kiki placed the bottle on the bed, picked up Curly Baby, and began to feed her. Curly Baby had a healthy appetite and drank eagerly, making little GULP, GULP sounds.
"Curly Baby, don’t worry. I won’t let you become an orphan without a mother, like me."
「CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! Thunder and lightning flashed across the sky.」
It started to rain—a heavy downpour. The wind howled through the unclosed window, and rain lashed in, spattering Sienna Johnson’s face.
Sienna Johnson, lost in a deep nightmare, felt her eyelids twitch. When another thunderclap exploded, tearing the dark sky apart, she was jolted awake by the noise and opened her eyes.
Where was this?
Her gaze was somewhat vacant, as though her soul had not yet returned to her body.
She remembered falling into the sea, drifting helplessly, never knowing when a massive wave might come and swallow her whole.
Who was it? Who had saved her!
The nurse came in to do her rounds and saw the open window. She hurried to close it, only to see the woman lying on the bed, her wide, dark eyes staring blankly.
AHH! The nurse let out a startled shriek.
The current atmosphere was too eerie. Outside, thunder rumbled and lightning flashed. The woman, who had been comatose for three whole months, was now awake. But she just lay there with her eyes open, saying nothing. It was terrifying.
Sienna Johnson blinked, and her eyes instantly regained their focus. She looked at the screaming nurse with a frown and asked unpleasantly, "Where is this?"
"A-a hospital."
"Which hospital?"
"City A People’s Hospital."
"Am I in Orienta?" Sienna Johnson felt a wave of confusion.
"Yes." The nurse didn’t understand why she was asking that.
Her last memory was of Frederick Stewart and Sabrina Johnson, that despicable pair, forcing her to jump into the sea. The weather had been just like this, with thunder and lightning. She had been drifting in the stormy sea, and then... her memories were a white fog.
"I want to go home!"
Sienna Johnson ripped the IV needles from her arm, threw off the blanket, and tried to get out of bed. The nurse rushed to stop her. "You can’t leave yet! You just woke up. The doctor needs to give you a full examination to make sure you’re stable before you can be discharged."
"Am I not awake now?" Sienna Johnson said coldly.
"But..."
Sienna Johnson, still in her hospital gown, ignored the nurse and made to leave. The nurse quickly called Holly Andrews. Holly Andrews happened to be on duty today and, upon receiving the nurse’s call, immediately rushed over from the inpatient department.
"Miss Johnson..." Holly Andrews called out to Sienna Johnson from a distance.
Sienna Johnson stopped when she heard someone call her name. A man of medium height in a white coat was approaching her. "Are you my attending physician?" Sienna Johnson asked when he drew near.
"Yes."
"Do I owe your hospital a lot of money?"
"No."
"Then why are you stopping me?"
"Please wait a moment. I’ve already called Noah Phillips. He’s on his way to the hospital."
Noah Phillips had been searching for Sienna Johnson for so many years. If Holly Andrews let this woman disappear right under his nose, Noah Phillips would skin him alive.
"Who is Noah Phillips?"
