CHAPTER 155: CHAPTER 156: WHO ARE YOU

"Starisle?"

Starisle is not far from Abyanabad. Adrian Desmond couldn’t comprehend where in Abyanabad Sienna Johnson could have hidden for him not to find her even after a year.

"Yes. However, it appears Madam has lost her memory," Walter Klein said in a low voice. "She doesn’t remember most things."

"Amnesia?" Dan Taylor found the plot development a bit melodramatic.

Owen Hunter asked, "She doesn’t remember Adrian Desmond?"

"Yes, she doesn’t even know who she is."

Owen Hunter calmly asked, "Then how are you sure she is Mai?"

"She looks exactly like Madam," Walter Klein replied.

"It’s not uncommon to find people who look exactly alike in this world." Owen Hunter warned Adrian Desmond, implying that the amnesiac woman could be an imposter.

"I have to see her!"

As Walter Klein expected, Adrian Desmond, upon hearing the news, couldn’t wait a moment longer. He strode towards the exit but stumbled down the stairs in his haste. Walter Klein and Mr. Lucas averted their gazes, pretending not to have seen him fall.

"Owen Hunter, I feel there’s something odd about this situation," Dan Taylor expressed his concern.

Owen Hunter was cautious. "What is real cannot be fake, and what is fake cannot become real. Adrian Desmond won’t be fooled so easily."

"That’s not necessarily true. Adrian Desmond hasn’t been the same man we knew since he fell for Mai."

"The current Adrian Desmond is good, a man of flesh and blood."

Dan Taylor, accustomed to his hedonistic lifestyle, found Adrian Desmond’s love-driven frenzy pitiful.

Such a free-spirited man, now completely ensnared by a woman.

Lying on the ground, Jule’s lips curved into a treacherous smile. His face, swollen like a pig’s head and covered in blood, went unnoticed.

Adrian Desmond, do you like the "gift" I sent you?!

A private plane landed at Starisle’s airport. People arranged in advance were there to receive Adrian Desmond.

"Sixth Master, the car is outside."

"Where is she?" Adrian Desmond could hardly contain his inner excitement. He had waited a year, thinking of her day and night, and was finally about to see that woman.

"We’ve arranged for her to stay in a villa."

"Take me there!"

"Yes!"

Starisle is a beautiful city.

Starisle faced water shortages, importing all its water from other countries. Yet, its government and citizens generously used this precious resource to water plants and clean the streets.

Adrian Desmond sat rigidly, in no mood to appreciate the scenery outside.

When he sees her, what should he do? Should he lose his temper, punish her as before, or forgive her?

"Sixth Master, we’ve arrived."

He was still contemplating how to face Sienna Johnson when they arrived. Adrian Desmond still hadn’t figured out how to confront her.

He naturally couldn’t bring himself to punish her. But if he just let her go, what about the suffering he had endured for the past year because of her?

"Sixth Master, we’ve arrived," Walter Klein repeated, seeing Adrian Desmond sitting motionless in the back seat and thinking he hadn’t heard.

Adrian Desmond looked towards the villa. The mere thought that she was inside made his heart pound. After all this time, she still couldn’t escape his grasp.

Mai, there won’t be a next time!

He wouldn’t give her another chance—to escape!

Walter Klein opened the car door for Adrian Desmond. Adrian Desmond stretched his long legs out. His handsome figure was dazzling under the sunlight. He narrowed his eyes, paused for a moment, then strode resolutely inside.

The bodyguards on duty greeted Adrian Desmond as he approached. He gave a slight nod in response.

"Sixth Master, Madam is in the study."

"Lead the way!" Adrian Desmond wasn’t familiar with the villa’s layout. A bodyguard led the way, walking diagonally ahead of him, as Adrian Desmond strode towards the study.

Reaching the study door, the bodyguard didn’t enter. "Sixth Master, Madam is inside."

Walter Klein said, "Sixth Master, we’ll wait downstairs. If you need anything, just call out."

Walter Klein gave the bodyguard a meaningful look, and the two went downstairs.

Adrian Desmond’s hand rested on the doorknob. He was about to turn it but paused. He still hadn’t decided how to face Sienna Johnson.

That woman had a terrible temper and was impervious to both soft and hard tactics. Even if he was unwilling to admit it, Adrian Desmond truly had no way of handling her.

Mai, as long as you promise not to run again, I’ll forgive you.

If she stayed, he would agree to anything, even divorcing Melanie Carpenter!

Adrian Desmond took a deep breath and pushed the door open. As the door slowly swung inward, the woman inside heard the movement and slowly turned around. Their eyes met. Adrian Desmond’s gaze greedily drank her in.

They were her familiar brows and eyes, but her gaze was different. This woman’s eyes burned with a passion directed at him. The proud Sienna Johnson, even if she loved him deep down, would never show it so openly.

The door swung wide open, allowing them to see each other clearly. Adrian Desmond’s sharp gaze swept over the woman’s face. "Who are you?" he asked.

"I don’t know," the woman said softly, her long eyelashes trembling.

The woman seemed afraid of him. Her demeanor reminded Adrian Desmond of Kiki, Sienna Johnson’s little follower. Kiki had also run away with Sienna Johnson.

Where is Kiki? And his son?

Adrian Desmond slowly walked in. The woman became even more restless.

Adrian Desmond sat on the sofa and stared at her intently. The woman fidgeted, wringing her hands, unsure where to direct her gaze.

"Come here!" Adrian Desmond commanded.

"Yes!"

The woman was exceptionally submissive. She slowly walked over and sat opposite Adrian Desmond. He stared at her, unblinking. "You really don’t remember anything?"

"Mm," the woman replied, a hint of helplessness in her eyes. "They said my name is Mai, and I’m your... woman!" She glanced up at Adrian Desmond, her eyes tinged with shyness.

Adrian Desmond leaned forward, suddenly seizing her chin. The gesture was rough. The woman winced in pain. "Sixth... Sixth Master, what are you doing?"

She looked fearfully at Adrian Desmond, who had narrowed his eyes. He was like a beast lurking in the darkness; if she wasn’t careful, she could be killed at any moment.

His heart, which had been pounding with anticipation, suddenly calmed upon seeing the woman before him. This woman couldn’t make his heart flutter.

Even though her face was almost identical to Sienna Johnson’s!

"Who are you, really?" Adrian Desmond squeezed her chin forcefully, with strength enough to dislocate it. The woman stammered in fear, "...I, I am Mai..."

Adrian Desmond chuckled. "Didn’t you just say you don’t remember anything?"

"They said I look a lot like Mai, and I think I am Mai, because..." A faint blush appeared on the woman’s pale face. "When I see you, Sixth Master, my heart pounds so hard, it feels like it’s going to jump out of my chest."

"So, amnesia changes one’s personality as well," he mocked.
