CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 057: WHAT IS THE TRUTH

After Sienna Johnson shouted that name, there was no further movement. That deceptive silence was more worrisome than heart-wrenching wails.

Tatu worriedly asked, "Sixth Master, is she okay? Why is there no movement? Did something unexpected happen? Should I let her out?"

Walter Klein replied, "The snakes have had their venomous fangs removed. She might be terrified, but her life isn’t in danger."

"That’s still scary enough," Tatu added.

Walter Klein pleaded, "Sixth Master, Sister-in-law is a woman, after all. Scaring her a bit should be enough. I think we should let her out now. What if we genuinely scare her into developing some kind of condition?"

"Don’t call her Sister-in-law anymore! Since she considers herself a whore, I don’t need to afford her any dignity!"

After saying that, Adrian Desmond turned around and left.

Walter Klein didn’t follow but looked at the eerily quiet Stone Cottage, feeling uneasy. Is there really no problem?

Tatu wasn’t sure either and replied, "We can only obey Sixth Master’s decision!"

None of them had the courage to defy Adrian Desmond’s orders and release Sienna Johnson.

Adrian Desmond returned to his bedroom, surprised to see Melanie Carpenter there. He asked, "Why are you here?"

Melanie Carpenter laughed. "Sixth Brother, didn’t you arrange for me to stay here?"

Abigail Ford was putting Melanie’s clothes into the wardrobe, piece by piece. Only then did Adrian notice that Sienna’s clothes were gone.

Adrian Desmond’s face immediately darkened, and he turned and left the room.

"Sixth Brother, where are you going?"

Tatu was just coming upstairs and nearly bumped into Adrian Desmond. Adrian asked, "Didn’t I tell you to prepare a room for Melanie? Why is Melanie staying in my room?"

Tatu explained, "It was Mai who found out Miss Carpenter was coming and voluntarily gave up her room."

"Mai?"

"Yes. Mai said that since Miss Carpenter is Sixth Master’s fiancée, she should naturally stay in Sixth Master’s room." Tatu lowered his head while reporting, not daring to look at Adrian’s murderous gaze.

Adrian Desmond sneered. "She’s that desperate to push me onto another woman!"

Does she think that once Melanie Carpenter arrives, he’ll quickly grow tired of her, forget her, and then she can take the opportunity to leave?

Adrian didn’t let Melanie stay in his room but arranged another one for her. After that, he didn’t ask anyone to move Sienna Johnson’s things out of Selena Robertson’s room.

After a day of upheaval, everyone was exhausted, and dinner was rather somber.

The people on the island were very tight-lipped, especially about Sienna Johnson’s situation. As it involved Adrian Desmond’s dignity, naturally, no one dared to gossip. Therefore, Melanie Carpenter didn’t know Sienna Johnson had been locked in a room full of snakes and was currently suffering a fate worse than death.

Because of Melanie Carpenter’s arrival, tonight’s dinner featured traditional Abyanabad cuisine: coconut rice, Laksa, satay, and various seafood dishes.

"What’s wrong? Is the food not to your taste?" Melanie Carpenter asked, concerned about Adrian Desmond’s distracted appearance.

Sienna Johnson was still locked in the snake room by him; he had no appetite. His mind was filled with images of Sienna Johnson being entwined by snakes. Adrian Desmond pinched the bridge of his nose and said tiredly, "I’ve been a bit tired lately, so I have no appetite."

Bella Ford said, "Sixth Brother, even when you’re busy, you must take care of your health."

"Yes." Melanie Carpenter knew that Adrian Desmond loved seafood. She picked up a shrimp, peeled it, and placed it in his bowl. "Sixth Brother, eat some more. You’ve lost weight recently."

That woman also loved seafood, especially crab. But she was exceptionally lazy; if he didn’t prepare it for her, she’d rather eat something else.

"Sixth Brother, what are you thinking about?"

Before Sienna Johnson arrived, the entire island was this quiet. After she came, the island became chaotically noisy. Now, it was too quiet.

"Sixth Master..." It was Selena Robertson.

Ever since Selena Robertson came to the island, she and Sienna Johnson had been inseparable. Wherever Sienna Johnson was, Selena Robertson could surely be found.

"What is it?" Adrian Desmond asked coldly.

"...Sixth Master, I came to tell you, I’ve been with Mai the whole time. Mai and Xavier Young definitely aren’t having an affair..."

Selena Robertson shook her head. She wasn’t actually clear on what had happened between Sienna Johnson and Xavier Young, but she knew Sienna Johnson definitely didn’t love him.

Adrian Desmond looked at Selena Robertson with probing dark eyes, asking with interest, "What does this have to do with Melanie’s arrival on the island?"

Selena Robertson was afraid of Adrian Desmond. Usually, if there was nothing important, she would go out of her way to avoid him. To be speaking to him face-to-face now, and saying so much, required immense courage. However, she kept her head bowed, not daring to look at him at all.

"Is Mai jealous?"

Adrian Desmond was utterly astonished. "Jealous? Her? How is that possible?"

"Although Mai didn’t say anything, the day she found out Miss Carpenter was coming, Sienna Johnson smashed a mirror in the bathroom... She claimed it was an accident, but she actually did it deliberately. I also heard her..."

"Heard what?"

"Mai cursed you..."

"When does she not curse me!"

"Mai said Sixth Master is a bastard, that he clearly has a fiancée but still came to provoke her..."
