CHAPTER 360: CHAPTER 360: TERMS OF EXCHANGE
Mio Osborne gave the principal a knowing look.
He graduated from Crestfall University, earned his Ph.D. at a young age, and then went abroad for further study. After teaching for three years, he returned to the country and was hired by Crestfall University with a high salary. But to him, money was no object; coming from a family of educators, he just wanted to nurture good students.
Before this preparatory class started, the principal had already slipped some lazy, underperforming students into his class, students who couldn’t even pass ordinary university exams. Now on the first day of classes, another one was added. He was completely fed up.
The principal didn’t say anything, just stood there with a silly smile.
Mio Osborne cut straight to the point, saying, "I heard, Principal, you stuffed another student into my class?"
The principal tried to play cute, clasped his hands together, and rubbed them, saying, "Professor Osborne, I promise, this is the last time!"
Mio Osborne wasn’t buying it and said with a dark expression, "Last time, when the Ross Family stuffed a student in, you said it was the last time. And the time before that, when you put in a student who had been expelled from a university..."
The principal interrupted Mio Osborne and said, "Professor Osborne, can you trust me just one last time? This time it truly is the last time! I promise, I absolutely won’t put any more students in your class."
Mio Osborne pushed aside the tea the principal had just offered him, shook his head, and said, "There is no ’last time’. Either let the student you stuffed in stay and I leave, or I stay and she can’t come in."
"Don’t, no!" The principal panicked and said, "The student is from the Knight Family, of the Knight Group!"
"So what?" Would a competent teacher need to fear an influential family?
The principal saw that Mio Osborne was serious this time and broke into a sweat.
He gritted his teeth and said, "Professor Osborne, haven’t you always wanted a laboratory? Mr. Knight said that as long as his person graduates smoothly, he’ll donate a high-tech research building to us. A whole building! Then, I’ll assign you a floor, how about that?"
Mio Osborne frowned and said, "Principal, you know the purpose of me running this class. I want to cultivate a group of elite students who will have an impact nationwide, even globally. This class already has a few bad apples, why are you adding more?"
The principal chuckled apologetically, "One bad apple is still a bad apple, two are still bad apples. Professor Osborne, you’re so outstanding, we won’t fear an additional one, right?"
Mio Osborne’s face turned completely dark.
"Principal! Now is not the time to joke!"
The principal again withdrew his smile and said, "You don’t have to reject it so directly. What if this one is different from the previous ones? I don’t know about her background and credentials; maybe she’s the excellent student you’re looking for?"
Mio Osborne was silent, for a full ten seconds before he said, "Fine. If the student you put in this time doesn’t rank in the top twenty of the class in the first monthly exam, then I’d like you to take her back. Additionally, I have one more condition."
The principal, seeing that Mio Osborne had finally budged, nodded his head eagerly like a pestle of garlic.
"Tell me, tell me, as long as it’s something I can do, I’ll agree!"
Mio Osborne spoke plainly, "I want to add another student to my class."
"That’s all? I wondered what it was! Add whoever you like, as long as there’s space in the class, you can add ten more." Zhang said, pausing, and asked, "Is it a relative of yours?"
Mio Osborne stiffened and said, "I don’t know her."
"Then who is it?"
"Willow Grant. This year’s top-scoring freshman at Crestfall University."
