CHAPTER 160: THROUGH ANYTHING, TOGETHER

Hearing that, Zeke felt a bit worried. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to let her go, but the situation wasn’t fully safe yet, their enemies hadn’t been caught, even though there were some clues. Still, he had already said it, and he couldn’t take it back.

"You want to go to Switzerland, baby? For what?" Zeke asked, curious and concerned.

"I want to meet my team in person, and check the new Cy. Noire warehouse. The old one burned down," Cassidy explained.

Zeke frowned at the news. "The Cy. Noire warehouse burned down? How... was it an electrical issue?"

Cassidy sighed, the memory still fresh. "After the investigation, the authorities in Switzerland said it was arson. I was shocked when I heard it. I asked the police to catch whoever did it, and it turned out a few juveniles who liked setting buildings on fire were responsible."

"When did it burn?" Zeke asked, feeling uneasy. Somehow, he sensed the fire at the Cy. Noire warehouse wasn’t just a simple arson.

"Was it about two months ago?" Cassidy tried to recall. "Before Claire got shot," she answered, letting out a long sigh.

"Now that I think about it, after the fire, one bad thing after another kept happening to me and Claire," Cassidy said, her voice tense and a little fearful, knowing the culprit behind all these events hadn’t been caught yet.

She then looked at Zeke and asked, "How’s the search for the culprit going? Have you found them yet?" Her voice carried a hint of worry, hoping the person responsible would be found and caught soon, as she still felt afraid and threatened that something bad might happen again.

Zeke’s jaw clenched, frustration tightening in his chest, he still hadn’t been able to make Cassidy and Claire feel safe. "Not yet. But we’ve got a lead on the culprit, baby. Soon, we’ll know who wanted to hurt you two," he said, taking Cassidy’s hand again, trying to reassure and comfort her.

Cassidy let out a heavy sigh. "I hope they catch the culprit soon," she murmured, squeezing Zeke’s hand tightly, her anxiety clear.

"Of course. I promise, I won’t let anything like that happen to you two again," Zeke said, looking at her with unwavering seriousness.

Cassidy simply nodded, but her heart couldn’t lie, she was still a little scared. Who wouldn’t be afraid if someone wanted to harm you and your child? All she could do was hope and pray that Zeke would catch the culprit quickly and keep them safe.

Zeke then had an idea. "How about I go with you to Switzerland? I’d love to see where you and Claire spent almost four years of your life," he suggested, curious about Cassidy’s life there, the place she had chosen to hide away and live quietly.

"You want to come with me to Switzerland?" Cassidy asked, surprised but secretly happy.

"Yeah. I haven’t been to Switzerland in a while either. I want to see what it’s like now, and why you chose it as your refuge back then," Zeke teased, flashing a playful grin at her.

Cassidy scoffed and lightly pinched his arm, but with all his time at the gym, she couldn’t budge him. Frustrated, she switched to his stomach, but his six-pack made it impossible. She huffed in mock frustration while Zeke laughed at her antics.

Zeke took her hand and brought it up to his cheek. "Here. You can pinch me here," he said, still teasing her.

Cassidy did as he said, gently pinching his cheek before letting go.

Zeke smiled softly. "You can pinch me harder if you want. I won’t complain."

"I can’t," Cassidy replied shortly. "If I pinch your cheek too hard, you’ll look ugly. Your charm is in your face, what if I stop liking you because you’ve become ugly?" This time, Cassidy teased him, trying to keep a straight face while stifling her laugh.

Zeke pretended to look disappointed and sad. "So... if I became ugly, you wouldn’t love me anymore, baby?"

"Of course. I already said it, your looks are part of your charm. If you were ugly, I might not even glance at you," Cassidy replied, joking, but her tone and expression were serious.

Zeke, who had been pretending, swallowed hard when he saw her seriousness. "Are you serious, baby?" he asked, worried. "If I suddenly became ugly... you’d leave me?" Without realizing it, he was gripping Cassidy’s hand tightly, as if afraid to let go.

"That depends... on how ugly you are."

"Baby..." Zeke exclaimed, shocked and anxious, fearing she might actually leave him if that ever happened.

Seeing his panicked, worried expression, Cassidy decided to test him. "And you... if I became ugly, my face ruined, or I couldn’t walk, only lie in bed, or I went blind, or had a stroke, or worst... I was in a coma for years... would you still choose to stay with me or leave me for a prettier woman?" she asked, narrowing her eyes and staring at Zeke, waiting for his answer.

Without hesitation, Zeke answered, "Of course. I would stay with you, baby. Even if you became ugly, or your face was ruined, I wouldn’t leave. I love you for your soul, for who you are, not for your looks," he said seriously.

"And if you couldn’t walk, or could only lie down, or went blind, I’d gladly be your legs and your eyes, baby," he added, gently stroking Cassidy’s cheek.

Cassidy felt her heart warm, touched by Zeke’s words.

"And if you had a stroke or were in a coma, I would be by your side every moment and never leave. I’d find the best doctors until you could recover and wake up. I would stay with you until death separates us," Zeke said, his voice full of conviction. To him, Cassidy was his partner for life, and no one could ever take her place.

"Even if you tried to push me away, even if you told me to leave, I wouldn’t. Even if you hated me, I’d stick with you forever." he added seriously.

Cassidy’s eyes began to well up at his confession.

"And if I end up ugly someday, I can always get plastic surgery. You know I’m not short on money. I can do it until you think I’m handsome again," Zeke said with a completely serious face, and Cassidy couldn’t help but laugh softly at how earnest he looked while saying something so ridiculous.

"So, please don’t leave me, baby? And don’t say things like that again. Just thinking about it scares me," Zeke pleaded, his face as pitiful as he could make it.

Cassidy cupped both his cheeks and said softly, "You make me love you even more, Ezekiel. I promise I won’t leave you, even if your face became ugly." She gave his cheeks a gentle pinch before leaning in to press a soft kiss to his lips.
