CHAPTER 125: CHAPTER 122 IT’S ALREADY LATE NOW

So annoying! Is he, Qi Longbing, really that bad? How many women dream of him? And this little woman acts all high and mighty? Is she really that unwilling? He really wanted to ask her, was dating him truly a matter of life and death to her?

"It’s already late, and I have to work tomorrow morning, President Qi. I should head back," Hua Xiaomo said to him, her tone indifferent, her face sporting that habitual faint smile.

Everything about her was so composed. It seemed she had never really lost her composure or acted out of line.

Qi Longbing gave her a glance and snorted coldly. "Go, go, go! I see you... all you think about deep down is how to get away as soon as possible, isn’t it?"

Suddenly unable to contain himself, his tone grew much heavier, and his handsome face turned alternately dark and pale.

In an instant, his heart soured.

Hua Xiaomo managed a forced smile. "President Qi, you’re tired. Get some sleep. I’m leaving."

Then, Hua Xiaomo picked up the pair of muddy high heels—one of which had a broken heel—from beside the couch. Her feet were red as she walked out of the luxurious room.

Qi Longbing watched her retreating figure, step by step, until she was out of sight. Yet, his anger didn’t subside in the slightest.

After a while, a ringtone broke the oppressive silence.

Qi Longbing snatched up his luxury Vertu phone and, without thinking, barked, "Don’t have her driven! If she’s so capable, let her walk home from the villa by herself!"

"...Yes." Yu Bao hesitated for a moment but still responded.

「Outside the gates of the White House Villa.」

Yu Bao ended the call, looking at Hua Xiaomo skeptically. "Hua Xiaomo, did you quarrel with President Qi?"

A strained smile played on Hua Xiaomo’s face. "No, why would we quarrel?"

"Well... he told me not to drive you home and... said you should walk back by yourself," Yu Bao said with difficulty.

Hua Xiaomo laughed it off after hearing this but didn’t dwell on it too much. "Alright, I understand. Then I’ll just walk back by myself."

Just as Hua Xiaomo picked up her bag, about to slip on the broken high heels in her hand, Aunt Wang suddenly rushed out from the living room.

"Miss Hua, you can’t wear those shoes anymore! Take mine!" Aunt Wang said with concern, placing the cloth shoes she was carrying on the ground.

Hua Xiaomo looked at her, her voice suddenly choked, but she quickly smiled. "Aunt Wang, you’re the best!" She smiled brightly, then chuckled. "HAHA!"

Then she gave her a smiling hug and quickly changed into the cloth shoes. Wow, walking was indeed much more comfortable this way.

"Aunt Wang, Mr. Yu, I’m leaving now." Just as Hua Xiaomo turned to leave, she seemed to remember something. She quickly took out the stack of money Qi Longbing had given her before at the Huahuo Music Hall from her bag and handed it to Yu Bao.

"This..." Yu Bao was taken aback.

"This is President Qi’s money. He had me hold onto it for him. Now please return it to him. Thank you! HAHA!" Hua Xiaomo said with a smile, not a hint of displeasure on her face.

It seemed she always wore a happy, carefree smile for others.

Yu Bao thought for a moment then took the money. "...Alright, I’ll return it to him." Deep down, how could he not know that it was probably President Qi’s money meant for her? There was no need for ’safekeeping.’ It was incredibly rare to see a woman so uninterested in his wealth and his person after all this time. It was truly a once-in-a-century occurrence!

Aunt Wang, seeing her smile, felt a pang of heartache. She reached out, grasped Hua Xiaomo’s hands, and consoled her, "Child, why make things so hard for yourself? If you just went along with him a little, wouldn’t things be easier to resolve?"

Hearing this, Hua Xiaomo just wanted to laugh. Hidden beneath her hair, her amber eyes were filled with a deep, shadowy gleam.

"Fine, fine, I understand. Aunt Wang, I’ll wash your shoes and return them to you tomorrow!" Hua Xiaomo said with a laugh, swiftly picking up her bag and quickly running out of the White House Villa.

"Oh, never mind returning them," Aunt Wang sighed, shaking her head.

From a distance, Hua Xiaomo turned back, waved goodbye with a smile, and shouted, "I insist, I must! HAHA! Good night, farewell!"

Then, turning around again, Hua Xiaomo jogged along the path heading downhill, soon disappearing from view.

A lean figure stood on the terrace of the White House Villa, gazing at the fading white silhouette.

It was hard to tell if it was anger, annoyance, or a mix of emotions and grudges too complex to untangle. These feelings clearly made his eyes burn and the corners of his lips redden.

"Hua Xiaomo, you wretched woman... I will never let you have your way! You just wait!" Qi Longbing seethed, his lips slightly twisted. His face, as beautiful as an angel’s, was radiant with an icy beauty.

After an indeterminate amount of time, he lingered on the terrace, sometimes looking down at his feet and shadow, sometimes lifting his gaze to the crescent moon in the sky.

The night was beautiful, like colored glass, but the chill was gradually intensifying.

Especially since it was already midnight.

That downhill path, for a girl on her own...

A fresh wave of concern filled his heart.

A dark shimmer emanated from his deep blue eyes. Qi Longbing clenched his fist tightly and, as if possessed, dashed downstairs.

He moved like the wind, swiftly passing by Yu Bao and Aunt Wang.

"President Qi..." Yu Bao called out.

But he had already jumped into that sleek black Ferrari and sped off like an arrow in pursuit.

However, by the time he caught up, he saw she had successfully hailed a taxi. The taxi drove away, while he remained stationary.

His hands gripped the steering wheel. Qi Longbing’s gaze narrowed to a slit. He wanted to follow that taxi, but his feet just couldn’t press the accelerator.

Finally, he wrenched the steering wheel, turned back onto the road home, and vanished into the beautiful night, without a trace.

When he returned to the villa, Qi Longbing was visibly exhausted. He collapsed onto the couch, not wanting to move.

Thinking of something, he quickly pulled out his luxurious Vertu phone, found that familiar number, hesitated for a moment, but still made the call.

Xiao Mo...

But Hua Xiaomo was destined not to receive that call. Instead, the beautiful, burgundy phone at Mo Rutian’s side rang once again.

Mo Rutian glanced at the phone.

It was that number with a string of eights at the end; unmistakably from a certain someone.

"Qi Longbing, you bastard! What kind of woman can’t you have? Why must you cling to her?" Mo Rutian tightly pursed his lips, his hands clenched into fists.

His handsome face, shaded by his long, straight hair, looked all the more deep and shadowy.

The hour had already passed midnight, yet this man was as relentless as a mad dog... This kind of person truly has no bottom line. Hua Xiaomo doesn’t even like him, yet he keeps pestering her! My gut tells me Qi Longbing is an utterly detestable person. In short, is he trying to stop me from being with her in any way? I must find a way to make Hua Xiaomo leave him. Yes, I need to rethink my plans and figure out the best course of action.
