CHAPTER 867: CHAPTER 597: GIANT BEAST FORBIDDEN ZONE_2
This continent is getting worse and worse.
"Run!"
Rad’s voice pounded in his ears like a heavy hammer. Soc woke up and felt his arm being pulled as his body involuntarily followed Rad in running.
"Make that big, clumsy guy block them."
"Okay!"
Snapping back to his senses, Soc immediately ordered his most precious undead laborer to take the initiative in the camp.
Searing crossed blades flashed, cutting the giant creature into four pieces, which collapsed to the ground, motionless.
The fallen furnace ignited a large fire, which may have been a blessing in disguise as the rapidly burning fire wall became a barrier to the pursuing force.
The crossed blade light flashed again, cutting through the wall of fire.
As Soc, who had been pulled forward by the old knight, looked back, he saw the true appearance of that thing.
Its body was like a leopard, but its back had a pair of mantis-like forelimbs.
Suddenly, a tremendous force came from his wrist, and Soc was flung forward.
"Rad?"
"Run!"
Rad stood firm with his sword in both hands, gasping for breath.
"I can’t run anymore, I’ll hold them off for you, you run outside."
"I..."
Soc opened his mouth but gritted his teeth and ran forward, fear conquering everything else.
But it did not end there. Soc did not find safety but instead encountered a giant creature blocking his way, at least the size of a relay station with a stables, lying entirely on the ground.
Its skin was coated with thick mud.
At first, he thought it was just a giant rock, but as he got closer, the rock suddenly cracked open, revealing an eyeball the size of half his body rolling inside.
The vertical pupil locked onto him.
Chills surged through him, and soon Soc felt a strong sense of dizziness, his stomach convulsing. Fear made him feel that his sensory perception was off, as if the whole world were turned upside down.
Maybe he had already been crushed.
Countless voices exploded in his mind, spinning into a terrifying vortex that swallowed everything.
Until the darkness struck.
Is it over?
No, it wasn’t.
Soc opened his eyes, his body fully enveloped in the stench of blood. He looked down and found himself covered in blood from head to toe, his body itching intolerably from the stinking blood.
And the massive creature, which had suddenly opened its eyes...
"What is that?"
Soc looked at a group of people in the distance who were sharpening their knives and cutting pieces of flesh off the giant creature as if they were moving house.
He thought he hadn’t fully woken up yet.
Looking up, he saw jagged peaks reaching into the clouds, and the sky was covered with dense, cotton-like clouds.
He groaned, trying to piece together his memories.
The undead laborer had been cut down, and Rad had stayed behind for him. After that, there was the giant monster.
He looked again in disbelief at the creature being dissected.
"Rock Earth Giant Lizard?"
"Sir Lord, this boy is awake!" someone shouted loudly.
Soc’s body immediately turned cold.
This was the forbidden area of the Rock Earth Giant Lizard. Making loud noises would only draw the terrifying creatures of this place, leading them to a massacre.
But this group didn’t care, shouting loudly.
Some even started a fire right there, roasting meat.
When the scent of roasted meat wafted over, Soc’s stomach growled.
Then he saw a blond man, tall and clad in armor adorned with various treasures.
The man held two skewers of meat and handed one to him.
"Thanks."
Soc took the skewer and bit into it, savoring the delicious flavor.
But this didn’t change his prior opinion that if these lunatics continued their antics, they would surely die.
"You shouldn’t do this," Soc said. "You’ll attract the Rock Earth Giant Lizard."
"The one we killed?" the man asked.
"That one might be the son of the real Rock Earth Giant Lizard."
"Thanks for the good news you brought."
"What?"
Soc thought he was definitely mad, utterly convinced!
"I’m wondering if the Rock Earth Giant Lizard has no family ties," the blond man said. "We’ve killed hundreds, but we haven’t seen the one you mentioned."
"Hundreds?" Soc choked on his spit, coughing violently.
Soon, a figure that walked up to the man caught Soc’s attention.
It was a witch.
She appeared to be from the Far East Magic School, as the style of her clothes and the symbols at the hem indicated.
More and more people appeared, many of them wizards and others besides.
Mutants he had never seen, knights, machines, and even winged creatures, among others.
This was a chaotic group, like a band of mercenaries, but each person wore expensive armor, making him marvel at the terrifying wealth this group possessed.
"I haven’t asked you yet, why are you here?"
There was no need to hide it. Soc briefly explained why he was here.
"And you, what’s your name?"
"Soc, Soc Red Furnace." When introducing his name, Soc lifted his chin slightly.
This was just instinct.
He quickly lowered his head again.
"Sila, have you heard of it?"
"Red Furnace? A royal family from long ago, centuries ago?" she said thoughtfully. "I’ve read about it in books once."
She implied it was just a fallen noble of historical legend, no longer relevant.
After centuries of royal succession, there seemed to be little left.
"Red Furnace Castle was established forty years ago." Soc emphasized, "The lord is my father."
"Sorry," Sila said. "I haven’t heard of it. Maybe your family has other, more famous members?"
"Anina Gang," Soc had to mention another name.
"I met her once before I got lost," Sila explained. "She appears to be the wife of some powerful lord."
"The most powerful one now," Soc said. "She’s also my cousin, but she and I are enemies."
He didn’t care whether the other side would try to appease Anina by turning on him because they never considered him an enemy, as they looked down on him.
"So, you are Old Nobility?" the blond man said.
"Old? Maybe you could say that."
Soc asked, "Who are you?"
Sila spoke up, "This is the sole ruler of the Magic Land, the King of Kings, the great Black Knight of the Enstad Continent, the Pioneer of the Xilu Continent, the Leader of the Serylin Continent, the Lord of All Gods, the human lord of Misty Rain City, the Undead Master, Lind Armand."
There were more titles, but the long list already left Soc speechless.
Who were they all? He had never heard of them.
"Wait, Magic Land? I’ve read about it in books before."
"This is what a well-informed noble is like," Lind said.
The impoverished knowledge of the Eastern Continent about the outside world was beyond Lind’s expectations; at least once a small noble without Supernatural Power, he knew about the Magic Land.
He had even seen "Angels."
"Really?" Soc inquired.
"Roar!" A roar came from the distance.
Soc instinctively looked over and saw a Rock Earth Giant Lizard charging madly toward the nearby soldiers.
"They..." Soc closed his mouth.
The Rock Earth Giant Lizard collided with the soldiers but was stopped by several knights with shields, then a dozen people with short blades swarmed in.
Breaking through the mud, attacking weak spots, killing, skinning, bleeding, cutting and disassembling the meat in one seamless process.
Each soldier was unbelievably strong.
It had to be true, Soc was now certain.
"I wish to pledge my loyalty to you!" Soc said urgently.
If he could get this group’s help, perhaps the old knight Rad could still be saved.
Lind asked, "Why haven’t you gone insane?"
An Old Nobility, still possessing Supernatural Power and remaining sane — did this mean there was a large group of rational Old Nobility waiting for him?
"Huh?"
