The Cannon-Fodder Villainess Faked Her Death, Her Five Beast Mates Go Wild
Chapter 78: Killing Intent
CHAPTER 78: CHAPTER 78: KILLING INTENT
"Roar—"
Accompanied by the low growls of the beast, a sound of chaotic running came from below the peak, shaking the ground into a tremble.
The males stood up nervously, swiftly placing the females inside the cave, waiting for the leader’s command.
Enli and Craig observed at the cave’s entrance, their expressions somewhat solemn as they saw the dozens of beasts with decaying heads getting closer and closer at the mountainside.
Craig stood firm in the center of the cave, seriousness on his face, "It’s a mutant beast group, each family leaves two males inside the cave to protect the females."
His eyes first swept over his subordinates, then he looked at the males of the tribe, "The rest of the males, follow me to divert them."
His commanding presence, along with his powerful and decisive voice, greatly inspired the beastmen’s confidence.
The males all stood up, following Craig, with Mious and Julius also leaving in succession.
The cavern suddenly felt vast and empty, leaving only dozens of beastmen anxiously waiting in place.
Pained cries occasionally penetrated, but Wen Shu couldn’t see how things were going, always feeling uneasy in her heart.
"Nan, come with me to take a look."
Unable to hold back, she stood at the cave’s entrance with Nan accompanying her.
Not far from the cave, at the mountainside, the beastmen were fiercely battling with the mutant beast group.
Blood dyed the snow black, several beasts had already fallen to the ground, and the males were not without injury.
Although Craig’s command was effective, the beastmen did not hold a significant advantage and were even faintly trending towards being overpowered.
Nan frowned, "Something’s not right."
Mutant beasts are not rational, yet this mutant beast group seemed organized; a few restrained the low-level males while the others all charged madly towards Craig and Mious!
"The mutant beasts are ranked as well, right?"
Wen Shu’s gaze swept through the beast crowd, keenly spotting a gigantic Lion Beast that only prowled around but did not take the initiative to attack.
Its movements were calm and collected, entirely unlike something mindless.
A chilling wind swept in, and Nan pulled Wen Shu into his arms, explaining in a low voice, "Yes, high-level mutant beasts even have crystals condensed in their heads."
"Crystals?"
Wen Shu was taken aback, this sounded way too much like zombies!
She fell silent, lowering her eyes to look at her own hands, unsettlingly uneasy...
Shifting her gaze back to the mountainside, the experienced Craig had noticed that Lion Beast, silently exchanging a glance with Mious.
It seemed they would soon resolve the situation.
Withdrawing from Nan’s embrace, Wen Shu prepared to return inside the cave, but as she turned, a sharp gust cut across her face!
In her field of vision, a claw swept in from the entrance, viciously aiming at Nan’s face.
Nan reacted swiftly to block, but before Wen Shu could see who attacked, a gust of cold wind flew at her again from behind.
She immediately twisted and swiped with her claws.
But the opponent seemed to have expected her move, skillfully dodging, grabbing her wrist with one hand, scooping her over the shoulder, and charging into the snow!
Her stomach hit hard, almost making her vomit; she tried pulling her claw but felt an icy iron chain tightly wrapped around her hand.
She sensed something was wrong, silently mobilizing her superpower, only to find her spiritual power indeed restricted.
They had used a Magnetic Chain to bind her!
"Who are you!"
Wen Shu gritted her teeth secretly, glancing at the male, but could only see a flash of golden hair.
The other party replied with a nonchalant tone, "The one who caught you. I advise you not to struggle, or if you lose an arm or leg, don’t blame me."
Realizing she wouldn’t get anything out of him, Wen Shu tightly pursed her lips, trying to keep her eyes open in the blowing snow and wind.
They were still on the mountain peak, with Nan having dealt with that male and hurrying towards her, only to be stopped by mutant beasts again.
Judging by the speed of his movement, Wen Shu guessed his rank was not high, thus observing the terrain, looking for a way to escape.
Within the mutant beast group, Mious also noticed her.
But just as he was distracted, that Ninth Rank mutant beast suddenly bit into half of his shoulder, the sharp fangs nearly piercing the neck!
Taking the chance, Craig leaped forward, grabbing onto the Lion Beast’s fangs with one hand, extending his gleaming long claws, and efficiently piercing through its head.
Breaking free from the Lion Beast’s mouth, Mious anxiously looked into the distance, only to find the figures of the two had already disappeared completely.
His heart tremored intensely, unable to care for anything else, rushing toward the other side of the peak. When passing by Nan, a gust of cold wind scraped beside him.
A giant Snowy Owl soared into the sky, also speeding off fast in the same direction.
With the most troublesome mutant beast resolved, Craig refrained from acting further.
He gazed in the direction they left, a trace of cold light passing through his eyes, then he hunched and transformed into a mighty Snow Wolf, following the scent chasing after them.
On the steep mountainside, roaring winds rushed head-on, causing the male’s figure to waver, almost throwing off the female on his back.
Wen Shu’s heart jumped, clinging tightly to his pelt, her gaze falling on the sheer drop below, her body stiffening instantly.
She lowered her brow, thinking for a moment, and shivered, "I don’t know you. Someone ordered you to capture me, didn’t they?"
The male, surprised by her words, exclaimed in amazement, "Quite clever, no wonder that lord wants you to have offspring!"
Offspring?
Wen Shu guessed who it was, her face darkening a bit, but her voice still soft and trembling, "Then you surely won’t let me die, right?"
She straightened her body, sobbing, "It’s so steep here, could you take another path? If I fall and die, how will you report back?"
After listening to only a few sentences, the male found her noise annoying; with the strong wind scattering scent quickly, he wasn’t a fool. If those males caught up, wouldn’t they tear him apart?
"Shut up, you won’t fall to your death..."
Just as he finished speaking, he slipped again, and Wen Shu immediately burst into tears, "Let me down! I don’t want to fall to my death!"
The male hesitated for a few seconds, glanced at the snow-covered steep path, impatiently put Wen Shu down, and snatched the magnetic chain on her hand, warning fiercely, "Walk properly, no funny ideas, understand?"
Tears filled Wen Shu’s eyes, frightened, she shivered and nodded repeatedly, her feet tentatively taking a step forward, "Am I going ahead?"
The male didn’t stop her; she turned her head, her gaze landing on the silver chain, thinking this thing couldn’t hold her?
She shivered as she walked a few steps, and just as she unclasped the magnetic chain, the male suddenly cursed under his breath, raising a hand to grab her shoulder to pull her back.
Wen Shu raised her eyes, only to find at the end of the path, a sleek and massive Snow Wolf, its eyes coldly staring at them.
Seeing the male grab her, the Wolf’s cold eyes shifted slightly, and he lunged!
Wen Shu certainly remembered Craig’s beast form.
She subconsciously thought he came to help, but as the Wolf Beast’s massive jaws drew closer, and its sharp claws lunged straight at her, panic rose in her heart.
She fiercely shook off the hand on her shoulder, dodging to the wall base, but it was too late, as a great force struck her, knocking her down the cliff!
As she was about to fall, she quickly extended her claws, stabbing into the cliff face, with the other hand gripping tight to the slipping edge, preparing to climb up.
But before she could act, a pile of snow drifted down from above.
She shook her head, looking up.
Only to see a pair of icy green eyes filled with killing intent, coldly staring at her.
