The CEO's Substitute Ex-Wife
Chapter 252: A Mysterious Savior
CHAPTER 252: A MYSTERIOUS SAVIOR
"Sister Xiaojing, should we send Wen Nuan to the hospital?" Zhuo Bingbing asked worriedly. Cai Xiaojing shook her head. "It’s nothing; no need to panic. She’ll be fine once she throws it up."
Wen Nuan induced vomiting, expelling most of the alcohol she had consumed, but still felt incredibly unwell, exhausted, and covered in cold sweat. Cai Xiaojing and Zhuo Bingbing helped her clean up before they emerged.
"Damn that Yu Peng, that scoundrel!" Wen Nuan said indignantly, her heart filled with extreme anger. If she had a knife in her hand, she truly wanted to kill Yu Peng, that bastard. She should have known not to be polite to him back in F City and just slapped him a few times.
"Alright, stop cursing. Let’s clean up and leave first," Cai Xiaojing said. Thankfully, she had drunk more this time. Although Andrade had a bad temper, he was still a man of his word and didn’t make things difficult for them.
If they had encountered truly lecherous and despicable people, they would have been the ones to suffer.
Some people were just not to be provoked; if you couldn’t provoke them, you had to avoid them.
Wen Nuan understood this principle. Her head was spinning badly. She washed her face with hot water. Cai Xiaojing helped her out. It really was bad timing; they had spent a considerable amount of time in the restroom. When they came out, they ran into Andrade and his group again.
Yu Peng chuckled, reminding Andrade. He turned and looked at Wen Nuan, then walked over with a smile. Wen Nuan’s hairs stood on end. She wished she had come out later.
"Beauty, leave your number for me. Let’s go for a drink another day. Your tolerance is good; you drank so much and still aren’t drunk." He didn’t know Wen Nuan had purged everything; he just thought she had a really good alcohol tolerance. His palm glided across Wen Nuan’s face.
She swung her hand to swat his away, her gaze coldly fixed on him. "I don’t think I’ll be in the mood to drink with you."
Andrade’s expression subtly changed. Wen Nuan’s complexion was also extremely poor. He reached out to grab her shoulder, but suddenly his wrist was caught. Everyone looked over and saw a tall, handsome man, gentle as jade. Ou Beitang’s face subtly changed, and he had already subtly taken a few steps back.
Wen Nuan turned her head to look at him, and for a moment, she felt he looked very familiar, yet she couldn’t recall where she had seen him. She stared blankly, just feeling that the man had an excellent demeanor.
Like a flawless piece of jade.
Several people on Andrade’s side changed their expressions. Yu Peng didn’t recognize the newcomer and loudly said, "How dare you! Do you know who he is? Let go quickly!"
Cai Xiaojing couldn’t recognize him, and Zhuo Bingbing knew him even less.
The man had two people following him, a man and a woman. He smiled faintly. Seeing Wen Nuan stumble, he naturally extended his arm around her waist, carefully supporting her beside him. His gaze swept over Yu Peng, a hint of disdain flashing in his gentle eyes. His gaze finally landed on Andrade’s shocked face, and he retorted, "I don’t know who you are, but do you know who I am?"
Andrade hastily pulled his hand free. His previous sinister expression completely vanished, replaced by a fawning look. He was about to speak, but the man seemed unwilling to waste time on him. He turned his head to look at Wen Nuan, helplessly yet amusingly. "How come every time I see you, you’re drunk?"
Wen Nuan suddenly realized why he looked familiar. He was the man she had seen at Tang Shuwen and Sister Xueru’s wedding.
"Young Master Du..."
He waved his hand, stopping Andrade’s words, seemingly unwilling to deal with him either. He embraced Wen Nuan and left. Although Cai Xiaojing didn’t know their relationship, it was a good thing to have someone protecting them as they left.
She and Zhuo Bingbing followed them out.
Yu Peng asked Ou Beitang, "Mr. Ou, who was that man? Why was even Andrade afraid of him?"
Andrade, who was influential in both legal and illegal circles in America, with power no less than the three major American families, was actually afraid of a Chinese man. This didn’t make sense. He looked at Andrade’s expression, and it seemed he was even more eager to please him.
But that man was dismissive, exuding a wild arrogance amidst his coldness, simply not putting Andrade in his eyes.
As Cai Xiaojing walked, she observed the man’s care and protectiveness towards Wen Nuan, and she frowned. When did Wen Nuan get to know someone like this? He seemed to be a very important person. Perhaps the reason the hall was cleared was not for him, but for some other prominent figure.
Was this just a clichéd hero saving the damsel in distress?
She recalled the scene just now: the female lead being harassed, and the male lead suddenly descending like a god, protecting her all the way. How perfectly it fit the plot of a melodramatic drama; it was utterly clichéd.
But clearly.
The hero and the beauty were not necessarily the male and female leads of the same movie.
No matter how powerful this man was, he was probably a step too late.
Although Wen Nuan’s male lead didn’t appear when she was in trouble.
Cai Xiaojing thought with a touch of humor, "Young Master Ye Second, if this man launches an offensive, you’ll be in danger." Based on her intuition and her understanding of Wen Nuan, this kind of gentle, refined gentleman was definitely Wen Nuan’s preference.
She had always been puzzled why Wen Nuan fell for Young Master Ye Second. Young Master Ye Second was definitely the type Wen Nuan would dislike.
This man, however, was her preferred Prince Charming.
A cold wind blew, dissipating some of the heat from the surging alcohol in Wen Nuan. She sincerely thanked him, "Thank you for today."
"You’re welcome." He smiled faintly and reached out to brush away the stray hair from her cheek. The man and woman behind him widened their eyes, looking at each other. Even they, being well-traveled and sufficiently calm, were startled.
Wen Nuan was also stunned, then smiled slightly, feeling a bit awkward. He lowered his hand and smiled at Wen Nuan. The man behind him reminded him, "Master, we should go."
He nodded. "I’m leaving. Be careful in the future."
Wen Nuan hummed in acknowledgment. He walked a few steps, then turned back. In the light, the man’s face appeared even more gentle and jade-like, handsome as a god. Those slightly indifferent yet smiling eyes made one’s heart pound, as if one could drown in his gaze.
"My name is Du Di. Remember it."
With that, he smiled and left. Wen Nuan turned her head. Du Di, a very pleasant name. Cai Xiaojing, however, frowned in confusion. Du Di, who was he? She had never heard of him. But judging from his demeanor, he didn’t seem to be from their industry.
In short, he felt very mysterious.
Zhuo Bingbing asked, "Wen Nuan, do you know him?"
"No, I don’t. I only met him once before. I was a bit drunk and didn’t remember him. I didn’t expect to run into him again today. Thankfully, he was here," Wen Nuan said gratefully.
Cai Xiaojing told Zhuo Bingbing to go home first, and she would take Wen Nuan home. Wen Nuan thought that if her family saw her drunk, they would surely worry. Cai Xiaojing drove her back to Mingcheng Apartment, and Wen Nuan slept the whole way.
Cai Xiaojing had wanted to ask her about Du Di, but seeing how tired she was, she didn’t ask.
