The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 581 - 579: Kill Them
CHAPTER 581: CHAPTER 579: KILL THEM
Today, their goals were only two, to kill those with malicious intent and save the few remaining brave ordinary people.
The mangled bodies of the scientists, hung by Su Mo on the sharp angles outside the camp as a warning, were so pitiful that even Su Mo felt her methods were quite cruel.
Li Qian’s spiritual power was released in an attempt to capture once again the hiding places of those people, but to his surprise, all the red dots where those people were located within his range had disappeared.
The only remaining ones were people near the refugee camp who had gone out on missions.
"They’re gone," he said with a frown.
Zhao Changsheng asked, "They left?"
Lu Chen, driving the car and leading the way, glanced at the rearview mirror, "Then let’s go to the last place we detected them first."
Su Mo leaned back in her seat, looking at the stinking and rotting carcasses of wild beasts outside, "It must have been the bodies I hung that alerted them, but these people couldn’t possibly have just run away, they may have used some special method to hide."
Zhao Changsheng had a well-reasoned analysis, "Maybe these people have advanced equipment, similar to how they can control magnetic fields underground to make someone’s superpower disappear or be concealed?"
Su Mo found it quite plausible, possibly similar to her ability to shield spiritual powers, but her face broke into a mysterious smile, "What does that matter, as long as we are on the same power level, they won’t be able to detect us either."
"Just take our time and play with them," she said.
Su Mo harbored nothing but hatred for those people, those vermin living under the ground; she couldn’t wait to exterminate them.
Today the sun was blazing, and as the car entered the building complex, although their peripheral vision was limited, it was very clear.
Dozens of people, hidden in the shadows, were ready to strike.
Li Qian suddenly spoke up, "Stop the car, something’s not right."
Lu Chen slammed on the brakes, and in an instant, Su Mo’s eyes magnified the road ahead, clear and distinct, and she said with a grim face, "There’s a bomb on the wall, tell the cars behind not to move. We’ll finish the pumpkin and go down with the protective shield."
What of bombs? Her protective shield could block all physical harm.
The foreign special forces observing them with binoculars became curious, "Are those Huaxia people still having breakfast at a time like this?"
"They’re as dumb as pigs, kill them and avenge our men! Capture Su Mo and take her back!"
The people in the car had finished the pumpkin, and the orange protective shield was activated as everyone got out of the car.
They planned to walk straight through.
With a slight smile on her lips, Su Mo appeared very relaxed.
The massive explosion sounded right in her ears, with countless rock fragments and dust pelting against everyone’s shield, leaving a white fog of dust that obscured visibility within.
The special forces, believing their ambush succeeded, immediately set up their guns at the windows, aiming at the combat vehicles that followed.
To protect the combat vehicles from damage, Feng Yao and his team captured targets and immediately gathered dozens of giant fireballs to hurl at the surrounding buildings.
Lv Mao and his brothers used their Earth Element to build Earth Walls to block attacks and grew numerous vines with their Wood Element that crawled up the walls and into windows to search for targets.
Both sides plunged into a fierce battle, with everyone overlooking the few who were blown into the dust and debris.
A fierce thunderbolt gathered directly from the sky, striking a man who was holding a gun and aiming from inside a house. His body was petrified and fell straight from the window, crashing onto a patch of protruding sharp rocks and killing him instantly.
Even in the dust, Su Mo accurately located several people closest to her.
Her hands turned into green vines with sharp spikes that crawled up the building and dragged two people down.
The two people had no chance to resist, and one of them was a Fire Element user; even he couldn’t burn off the dreadful vines with the flames he conjured up.
To tell the truth, that level of heat felt like nothing more to Su Mo than a way to warm her hands.
She was able to take on these Level 5 superpower users as if she were just playing, despite being two levels below them.
She had tied the people in front of her when suddenly an Ice Blade shot towards her, striking the protective barrier.
The next instant, Su Mo noticed the woman standing on the rooftop.
Indeed, she was an Ice Ability User, and a very rare high-level one at that.
Lu Chen was on the same level as her, and his desire to fight was ignited; he conjured an Ice Giant Sword in front of him, "I’ll go and kill her."
Su Mo did not object, for aside from that Ice Ability User who stirred a slight combat desire in her, everyone else seemed too weak to bother with.
Or one might say, she had become very strong herself.
Li Qian’s spiritual power expanded once more, and this time, he finally detected the presence of ordinary people, "I think I’ve found those few survivors."
"Show me," Su Mo said, glancing at the two special forces members she had set aside without killing, "Jian Xiong, you and Zhao Changsheng stay here and keep watch."
"Understood."
She and Li Qian walked out of the building that had been blasted into ruins, all the way to a shop in front of them.
It was only two stories high, and just as Su Mo was about to enter, a barrage of bullets all hit her barrier.
The people above watched as the bullets stopped mid-air and then fell down, completely dumbfounded.
"What kind of superpowers do these Huaxia man and woman have? They actually stopped the bullets in their tracks?"
"Use superpowers, use superpowers!"
Several invisible Wind Blades then hit Su Mo’s barrier, leaving those upstairs even more agape.
They couldn’t even penetrate her barrier with their superpowers.
Looking up, Su Mo said with a smile, "Hand over our people, and I’ll spare your lives."
No sooner had she finished speaking than a burly middle-aged man, battered and bruised, was held at the window with a gun to his temple.
"If you touch us, I’ll kill him!"
In this world, no one isn’t afraid of dying; the hearts of those who were in charge of guarding the hostages were utterly panicked.
Li Qian spoke calmly and with a gentle demeanor, "I can control the person on that windowsill for 2 seconds."
Su Mo nodded, "That’s enough, use your ability, and I’ll go rescue him."
As Li Qian’s superpower was activated, Su Mo’s hands once again turned into thick vines, which swiftly snatched the gun from the captor’s hand and dragged them both to the ground.
As Su Mo walked upstairs in the shop, the pressure emanating from her made the two remaining superpower users in the room begin to sweat cold sweat from their foreheads.
The power that was evidently much higher than theirs and so terrifying instilled a sense of fear and trembling.
"How... how come it’s completely different from the plan? How did the psychic shield device fail! They actually found us!"
Inside the room, several sturdy young men with bombs strapped to their bodies, who had gone many days without food, finally had some color return to their wan complexions out of excitement. The refugee camp hadn’t given up on them!
