The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 615 - 613: Something Starts to Feel Wrong with Her Stomach
CHAPTER 615: CHAPTER 613: SOMETHING STARTS TO FEEL WRONG WITH HER STOMACH
Su Mo was idly nestled on the couch gnawing on beef jerky when she remembered that Momo Restaurant had been closed for a long time. She decided to sneak over and check it out for herself.
She staggered out of the hotel and headed towards the once bustling commercial street.
This area had been battered by hailstorms, causing damage to many buildings; her restaurant, perhaps by some twist of fortune, was intact while the shops on either side were smashed to ruins, leaving hers standing alone in the middle.
Outside hung a sign saying "Temporarily Closed", while inside Bai Shitong and his son, along with the pastry chef, were wiping tables.
The three of them looked happy, like a family.
Su Mo sensed something was off just as she was about to push the door and enter when she heard a woman’s voice from behind.
"This store hasn’t opened yet."
She stopped in her tracks and turned around, her eyebrows raised. It was the woman who was with Lu Jin.
"You are..."
"Fei Yiyi," the woman said, approaching slowly with a look that resembled hers.
Su Mo didn’t care about the face, but simply said, "So you followed me all the way here?"
Fei Yiyi nodded, "Yes, I followed you here."
Su Mo walked up the steps of the restaurant and pushed open the door. "Come in and sit."
As she entered, the three cleaners were overwhelmed with joy.
"Miss Su, you’re finally back."
"We’ve had nothing to do but wipe the tables."
Smiling, Su Mo took some ingredients from the Space and placed them on the table. "Now that I’m back, we can reopen."
She sat down in front of Fei Yiyi while Bai Shitong immediately brought over a pot of hot tea; Rong Bai had been taking care of the restaurant in Su Mo’s absence, so the food and water supplies were plentiful.
Fei Yiyi looked around, "Is this your restaurant?"
"Yes, what did you want to talk about?"
Seeing Su Mo casually leaning back in her chair, Fei Yiyi didn’t mind and just took a sip of the tea that was served, and got straight to the point, "What is your relationship with Lu Jin? Are you playing both sides?"
Su Mo swirled her tea cup, staring at the person in front of her. "We have no relationship, and it’s better not to talk nonsense, Miss Fei Yiyi."
Fei Yiyi could feel the subtle aura of authority emanating from Su Mo. Struggling to suppress her discomfort, she put down her cup, "I just wanted to say that Lu Jin has me now, and I hope you don’t disturb us."
Why was she preemptively fantasizing?
Su Mo chuckled, "Rest assured, I have no feelings for him whatsoever."
Fei Yiyi was somewhat skeptical but she did not pursue the issue further. Instead, she asked, "The superpower that Lin Yao cherishes so much, why did Lu Jin lock it up and beat it? I heard from Lin Yao that it’s all because of you."
After taking a sip of tea, Su Mo felt somewhat speechless, "Let’s not toss all the blame my way. Lu Jin has anger issues. You’ve been around him so long and you didn’t know?"
"Truthfully, I’m quite impressed with you. Staying with him, you need to watch your head."
Su Mo’s words carried a deeper meaning, yet Fei Yiyi listened without any sign of fear, rather she responded, "It was he who pulled me back from the brink of starvation. I want to stay with him always. I know I may be your substitute, but I hope you won’t come between us."
Su Mo actually gained a new respect for these words, she said nonchalantly, "Don’t worry, I won’t be interested. Want to stay for dinner?"
Fei Yiyi stood up, shook her head, "No, Lu Jin will be angry if he can’t find me. I better go back."
She left the house and ran far away, Su Mo sat in the chair, looking out the window at the stream of people walking by, and suddenly stood up and walked outside.
The refugee camp’s vegetable plot had been severely damaged, and as Su Mo approached, people were busy sowing seeds in the greenhouse again, many soldiers greeted her voluntarily.
Su Mo walked to the fishpond area, which fortunately had been protected in time and was still intact, and the number of fish was quite substantial.
She called over two soldiers and pointed to an open space, "Set up the chicken and cow sheds in this area, and let me know when it’s done, I’ll bring some livestock over for you."
"Miss Su, raise Mutant Bulls?" the soldier asked, visibly astonished. "Those... their aggression is too high, normal ropes might not hold them."
His surprise was evident.
Su Mo knew he had misunderstood and quickly shook her head, "No, I meant normal, unmutated cattle and sheep, just do as I told you."
The idea of having normal unmutated cattle and sheep thrilled the soldier, he knew that Su Mo’s arrangements were reliable, "I’ll get right on it."
Several heads of cattle and sheep were added to Su Mo’s All Things Tree.
They would definitely be staying in P City for a long while, so improving the diet of these people was indeed a good gesture.
Just as she was preparing to leave and head back to the hotel, after finishing their discussions, Lu Chen, upon realizing she was not there and hearing from the soldiers that Su Mo was here, came directly to her.
As Su Mo emerged from the planting area, she was met by a man with a worried expression.
"Why did you come out alone?" he asked, circling her shoulders and feeling a bit relieved.
Seeing his somewhat gloomy face, Su Mo quickly apologized with a smile, "I was too bored, just came out for a walk, are you done with your matters?"
"Yes, Lu Jin’s Bunker has been destroyed."
Su Mo’s smile faded, "Then it seems that all of us can only go to Luohe now."
"I will organize a group of engineers to go over."
"Try to finish the work as soon as possible, given the weather here, you never know what other catastrophes might occur."
Lu Chen nodded in agreement, Su Mo was then tucked back into bed, she playfully fiddled with his hand feeling a bit bored, "I haven’t even had the chance to ask, how are Ling Ye’s children doing now? I haven’t seen him around."
"They are safe and sound, Rong Bai’s training regimen for them makes it hard for him to come and see you, some of the parents of those subjects you brought back have died."
So that’s why these children are thrown into relentless training, Su Mo realized, "That’s actually for the best, toughening them up, they have to face this cruel world someday."
As Su Mo spoke, she lowered her head and caressed her stomach.
Days passed, and Su Mo had to go for regular check-ups every week.
This was the third month, and something was starting to feel off about her stomach.
The doctor said that the fetus inside her was developing somewhat larger than normal.
She could clearly feel her belly swelling non-stop since the beginning of the third month when lying in bed.
This was hardly the belly of a three-month pregnant woman, it seemed more like five months.
When Lu Chen and his companions heard this news, except for Lu Chen, everyone was very surprised, until Su Mo intentionally mentioned her unique physique, and then everyone’s faces fell.
They never knew that just being pregnant could potentially bring fatal dangers to Su Mo.
Su Mo felt the atmosphere around her shift notably, she raised a smile, "I’ve always been checking, and since there’s a living life inside, it coming out a bit earlier isn’t necessarily a bad thing."
