The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System
Chapter 184 - Little Yao’s family
CHAPTER 184: 184 - LITTLE YAO’S FAMILY
"Ah..." A bored sigh escaped Rongyan’s full, red lips.
She was in her office at the headquarters of the city guard, an enormous fortress that rose over twenty stories and housed almost five thousand guards.
Her shapely buttocks rested on a leather armchair while her head lay on a pile of documents on her desk.
It had been a few months since she had finally managed to become captain of the third regiment of the imperial guard, her life’s goal.
But nothing had gone as she had hoped.
She didn’t see a single crime worthy of her eyes, no great thieves, no murderers worth her time.
Some gangs even caused problems, but she simply couldn’t act on some bullshit about the dignity of a captain of the guard.
All she could do there was sign an endless pile of documents, hoping that someday a mission would come her way.
"I miss fighting with my brothers over food on my parents’ farm..." Rongyan whispered words she thought she would never repeat in her life as she stood up.
Walking over to her office window, she looked out at the city below, remembering the face of her superior.
"Ah, a woman of your rank shouldn’t lower herself to such lowly tasks, nhe nhe nhe, leave it to the common guards." She forced out an annoying nasal voice while imitating that damned old man.
"Captain!" A powerful voice echoed followed by a loud knock, drawing a startled squeal from Rongyan.
Her whole body shook and her hands accidentally hit a porcelain vase.
"Fuck!" She regained her composure, grabbing the vase centimeters before it hit the ground.
Putting it back, she sighed with relief.
These things were expensive and she had already lost almost half her salary for having a burst of anger and destroying the entire office.
She didn’t want to go through that again.
"Captain, there’s someone looking for you. He said you asked him to find you to deliver a mission."
"Ask him to come in." Rongyan returned to her chair, a certain strangeness shining on her face as she tried to remember who this person might be.
Her face blushed slightly as she remembered a handsome young man with long black hair and a penetrating gaze.
Could it be that young man?
’No... it’s impossible, how could he’- Rongyan’s thoughts were interrupted when the door to her office opened.
"Greetings, Senior Rongyan, this humble one has already dealt with the Blue Crow Gang." Qingyi bowed respectfully before taking a head out of his spatial ring.
"You killed him alone and without any artifacts? Where’s your wife?" She picked up the decapitated head, observing its features and pulling out a document from her desk drawer, confirming that it was the right person.
"Yes, Captain. Qingxue is cultivating behind closed doors."
Even after hearing that answer, it was still hard for Rongyan to believe. But in the end, she just shook her head.
How Qingyi killed wasn’t her problem and even if it was, the leader of that gang was a weakling, even compared to people of lower cultivation than his.
"Right," she nodded, putting the criminal’s head away and starting to write on a document.
Qingyi just waited silently, giving Rongyan some more information before leaving.
He didn’t worry too much about rescuing the other people, they didn’t really matter to him and all he did was point out the area where they were, leaving that to the guards.
Stopping in his tracks, he closed his eyes, entering Ruxue’s world of mind.
He was immediately greeted by animated laughter as he passed through the temple gates.
He saw little Yao sitting on Ruxue’s lap, her old, torn clothes replaced by an elegant purple dress made by the lightning spirit herself.
Her little feet tapped excitedly as Elize put a piece of cake in her mouth.
"I told you I was her favorite, fufufu~~" Ruxue turned her face away as she hugged little Yao tightly.
Qingyi’s face darkened, watching little Yao’s gaze. Had she really chosen Ruxue over Elize and Feiyan? How was that possible?
"Big brother Qingyi!" A big smile appeared on little Yao’s face as she stood up, running over to him.
"How are you, little one? Do you like it here?" he asked gently, keeping useless thoughts away..
"Yes, everyone is very nice to me! hehehe" She gave a little laugh that could melt the heart of even the bitterest man.
Qingyi returned her smile before stroking her hair.
It was a little difficult to pull her out of the priestesses’ arms, but in the end, he still managed to do it, taking the little girl back to the outside world before going after Qingxue.
She was a little surprised to see Qingyi so soon, but in the end, she just grabbed little Yao’s hand and together, they made their way to one of the middle-class areas of the city.
"Big Brother Qingyi, Big Sister Qingxue, where are we going?" Little Yao asked curiously, her big eyes studying the surrounding houses and vaguely recognizing them.
"You’ll see soon enough." Qingyi smiled and after a few more blocks, they turned left, stopping in front of a humble house.
Seemed to have been abandoned for many months, but it was still cozy and warm.
Little Yao stopped, her eyes fluttered and she took a step forward.
This was the house she used to live in with her parents before the Blue Crow gang took everything from them.
After a moment’s hesitation, she grabbed the door handle and entered the house, her vision soon focusing on a couple sitting in the living room.
Their eyes were tired and they had just had their first shower in weeks.
"Daddy?... Mommy?..." The little girl whispered.
It was only when her mother returned that sweet, warm smile she had missed so much that she finally broke down completely.
Qingyi just watched from afar, grabbing Qingxue’s wide hips and pulling her against him.
"You look disappointed..." Qingyi murmured, observing the bitter expression on Qingxue’s face.
"I’m not, I just..." She tried to find words to explain herself, but couldn’t.
"Don’t be so selfish, the time will come for us to have our own." Qingyi smiled, placing a soft kiss on Qingxue’s lips.
The silver-haired beauty blushed, snuggling into her husband’s arms while little Yao threw herself into her parents’ arms.
After a moment’s hesitation, Qingxue asked.
"My father had hundreds of wives and dozens of children, abandoning anyone who wasn’t worthy of his gaze... You’re not going to be like that, are you?"
"No." Qingyi shook his head. "I’ll love them all, I promise."
Soon after the crying subsided, Qingyi approached little Yao’s parents, handing them a small bag.
He had taken the skinny man’s space ring and although it didn’t have much, he had still managed to get over a thousand spirit crystals, giving fifty of them to little Yao’s family to help them get their business back on its feet.
It was a small amount for cultivators, but a true fortune for mortals.
Waving farewell to Little Yao, his eyes lifted to a mountain on the horizon, white as snow and rising thousands of meters high.
It was time to get ready to join the Eternal river sect.
