CHAPTER 86: 86: TRUE COLOR

Damon

Our father laughed as well then he stepped forward and folded his hands, his eyes darting between all three of us before he spoke.

"What makes you think this? So, you think because you just became kings, you’ll be able to command the army over me? Their loyalty is still to me, your fool." He snapped, clearly fuming from anger and I rolled myself, feeling my patience wearing thin as the seconds went by. This was not how I predicted tonight going at all, and my father is the last person I want to be staring at right now.

I shrugged as I spoke. "It’s not that, father. I might get off the throne right now and I’ll still be able to order the army compared to you. They might have initially been put together by you, but after I took control, the army became mine. Not yours or the pack’s, but mine. If I want them to give their lives up for me, they’ll do it without hesitations or questions, so I think you already have your answers." I drawled, watching as he clenched his jaw tightly in anger, his eyes reddening a bit like his wild was struggling for control. At least he knows better than to let his wind come to the surface right now.

"So, you’re all saying you won’t hand the girl over to me?" He asked and I rolled my eyes, wishing we could throw him out right now. We’ve never really gotten along with our father, but at least we all tolerated each other. I didn’t know why we all decided to stop humoring him tonight, perhaps it was because he outrightly revealed he came here to kill Sue, then we all just decided to drop the act and speak to him like we’ve always wanted to. But even with that, we were definitely still holding back, I could just feel it within me.

"That’s exactly what we’re saying. What we chose to do with her is none of your concern so please stop being so concerned about her. We’re not gonna kill her so just give up on that." Landon breathed out this time, irritation and anger clear in his voice and our father scoffed in clear annoyance.

"As your father; I still have control over you three even though you believe you’re now on the throne, so you have to listen to me." Our father tried again. It was clear that he really wanted to kill our mate, and we didn’t even know what his real reason was for desperately wanting to kill our mate. Did he hate us so much to the point of not wanting us to ever break our curses? Or is there a completely different reason?

I let out an irritated sigh as I dragged a hand across my face. Whatever the reason may be is none of our concern. He’s not killing our mate and that’s final.

Our mate.

I didn’t use go refer to her as that In my mind. In fact, I still wasn’t sure where I stood when it came to her. If I cared about her a little or not, if I was hiding my real emotions behind a brick like I do most of the time. But despite being unsure, it doesn’t mean I wanted her dead. I didn’t, and the thought of her being killed was just something that irked me so damn much.

"Well, you might believe that, but it doesn’t mean we’ll do whatever you want just because you ordered it. We’re no longer kids, father. The faster you end up coming to terms with this, the better you’d feel in no time." Angelo said in a steady voice while letting out a king sigh indicating that he was tired as hell and so over this entire conversation.

This time, our father let out a out that sounded quite hysteric. He glanced between us slowly then he was pointing at himself while shaking his head. "I knew I should have never let you all get on the throne. You’d never have dared to do any of this if you weren’t in the throne yet, cause that way you all know I could give the throne to your cousin." He sighed out, regret dropping off his voice as he lamented bitterly, which made me let out an irritated scoff as I kept staring at him.

"Perhaps you really should have." I breathed out with another lazy shrug and he shot me a sharp glare which I didn’t flinch away from.

"Yes, you’re right. I really should have. If he was the one I asked to kill his fated mate, he’d do it in an instant. Heck, if I asked him to kill your mate? He’d have gotten it done at this point." He sighed as he started to back away to my relief. His presence had made us all tense up and I wanted him gone as fast as possible.

"You’ll fix everything. You’ll reinstall the lunas back into the rightful positions. You’ll start acting like kings. And of course, you’ll get rid of your mate, else... you’ll really force my hand." He called out, clearly intended to be a warming but I scoffed as his words echoed in the air.

"Please don’t hold your breath, father. We’re not reinstalling the Luna’s till when we feel satisfied that they’ve learnt their lesson. And as for our fated mate, I think you already know what our answers are." Landon spoke this time, his eyes locked with our father’s angry ones, and after a few seconds, our father ended up letting out an angry scoff before he whirled around and stepped out of the room, slamming the door after him.

Silence stretched out between us after that for about a minute before Landon moved first, heading to the nearest seat and dropping right into it.

"The fuck does he think he is??" He gritted out, clearly furious as hell and I let out a long breath as I went off to take a seat as well, feeling quite drained. Angelo let out a long breath as he pushed his hair out of his face before facing Landon and myself.

"Guys, you know what that was, right?" He began in a flat voice, referring to our father and the encounter we just had. Landon let out a bitter laugh as he nodded.

"Of course. It was a clear threat and nothing more than that." He pointed and I couldn’t agree more, that was exactly what it had been . The way he finally showed all his hands, unlike before whereby he used to hide and act like he cared about us or something.

"For the first time, he came out and revealed his true feelings about us. He admitted to have wished he crowned Hugo instead, and claimed we didn’t have to break our curses, which basically mean he doesn’t mind that we die, cause not breaking the curses means that we’d end up losing our lives and he’s fully aware of that." Angelo pointed out through a tense voice, sorry filling his eyes as he stared straight ahead for a bit.

"Yeah, that was crazy." I agreed, nodding tensely.

"So, what are we gonna do? We can all tell he was very mad, which means he’d undoubtedly try to make a move any time from now." Landon spoke up this time.

"I say we just keep a closer look on Sue, and that we all be careful. Like, in an extra way. He might try to poison us and the likes and we definitely can’t allow that to happen." I breathed out and my brothers nodded without hesitation.

"Yes. You’re right." Angelo stated, agreeing with me as he went off to sink into a couch as well.

"Let’s all just be careful, that is all." Landon sighed out.

After that, silence stretched out between us before Landon ended breaking it, clearing his throat before he began to speak.

"But guys, what if he ends up hurting Sue?" He asked and we all glanced over at him.

"You know how he is. There’s no putting anything past him, and I wouldn’t like a situation whereby Sue gets hurt because of him."

I frowned as I listened to him speak, and he was actually right. "So, what do you suggest that we do? Let her leave with those fools?" I demanded before I could stop myself. I had managed to conceal most of my feelings for most of the time cause it still left me confused lost of the time, but I knew I had slipped up when my brother glanced at me quickly with their brows arched and shock clear their faces.

"Wait... so you care about her?" Landon drawled, barely managing to conceal his smirk and I let out a scoff of irritation while rolling my eyes, but within me, I could feel my heart hammering against my rubs for some weird reasons.

"Of course I don’t," I snapped while rolling my eyes, but the looks my brothers sent my way indicated they weren’t buying my words this time.

Shit.
