The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss
Chapter 454 454: Immediate Perception
"..." What a strange situation. I look at my older sister as she stands here in my castle. Eclipsya and Lycoris are staring at her with confusion and interest, but no one is making the first move.
As soon as we arrived at the castle, the two of them were already here and ended up seeing her, but because of our race, I'm sure my daughters feel something for her, they just don't understand it.
"You have very... unique children." My older sister says while observing Lycoris in particular.
"I like this one. She has a ferocious look in her eyes." She says, pointing at Lycoris as she approaches. Lycoris innocently approaches her too, curious, but promptly bites Azraelith's hand.
"...She's bold. Biting someone so much stronger isn't for everyone." She shakes her hand, and Lycoris moves with the motion, stubbornly clinging to her hand, until Azraelith moves her hand quickly, flinging her upward. As she falls, Azraelith catches her by the tail, leaving her upside down.
Soon, she lets her go and Lycoris falls to the floor, but using her little hands, she stays upside down and leaps, landing on her feet again.
"...Baahh!!" She doesn't seem to want to try biting again and just starts running to me, hiding behind my legs.
"...Children are confusing things, but they seem strong for their age... but still far below you. Aren't you protecting them too much?" Azraelith asks, and it kind of makes sense.
At their age, I had more power than that. However, I protect my daughters from real dangers, which doesn't give them much room to adapt.
"They don't need to become extremely powerful. They just need to live happily under my care." When I say this, my older sister gives a somewhat mocking smile.
"Pandora, I plan to go to the Abyss before you. Is that alright?" She asks, and I feel a bit annoyed.
"But... that means you won't even spend a week here with me..." I honestly expected more.
"...You said you're going to the Abyss. You can just meet me there. It's not safe for me to stay on this planet. Elysia wouldn't care about breaking rules if she could kill me... besides, Delphina lives on this planet. You said she's with you, but she doesn't like me either." She says, and I nod in agreement.
"Okay, we can meet there... I should be going to the Abyss in about a month and a half." That's the time I need to finish taking care of Zephyra and get Grimm settled, since she's coming to live in my castle.
"Great, then I'll leave in a week... anyway, I have nothing left on this planet besides Beta, which is why I'd like Beta to keep living here. Is that alright?" She says, and I nod affirmatively. Soon, Eclipsya comes close to her, staring into her eyes.
"Do you need something?" Azraelith asks Eclipsya, confused.
"What is the best way to imprison someone so they can never escape? Also, how did the correlation of the gold price work, based on demon spending, back when you were in charge?" Eclipsya asks while I pick Lycoris up in my arms.
"Azraelith, I'm going to see my wife. You can talk with my daughter. She has... complex desires and even more intellectually interesting questions, hahaha." I say just that while nodding my head at Eclipsya, who nods back conspiratorially.
'Smart girl.' She noticed that Azraelith is strong, very strong, and immediately went after magical support for her plans, as well as to ask her questions about governance, showing that Eclipsya understands that one of my children might become the Demon King in the future.
"Big sister, look after Eclipsya for a bit. You might like her; she's very clever." I say while Lycoris hugs my neck, staring at Azraelith.
"Okay... I'll do that..." She says as I enter the castle.
'Why do I have this strange chill...' I feel a slight discomfort from the contact I'm having with Lycoris's skin; the sensation of the environment is really unpleasant.
The air is viscous and sticky in a truly annoying way, and the skin-to-skin contact is strange, but my discomfort comes from something else: Azraelith's gaze.
'...She... wouldn't be pondering whether to kill me, right?' I have strong instincts, and my physical changes seem to have amplified my instincts to the maximum, so the discomfort is real.
'...' Before disappearing inside the castle, I look at her, and she looks back at me. Our gazes cross, and we both understand that whoever attacks first will not gain the upper hand.
Not in this situation. Family bonds don't matter. If she tries to kill me, I will also attack to kill. And if I try to kill her, she will also try to kill me. She looks at my children and realizes that using them would be useless.
I'm not the weak type who is stopped because someone destroyed what I love. I'm the opposite; I'm a monster who becomes even more destructive if someone messes with what matters to me.
Because that was the lack of control I experienced, the same one that surfaced when I saw Elena die before my eyes.
"..." We both look away as I completely enter the castle, moving out of her line of sight with this warning that if she crosses the line, I won't forgive her.
...
...
...
"Morynna, you are the Goddess of Dragons... you helped create this seal... and you know a lot about elemental magic... so tell me I'm wrong right now." Elysia says while looking at the seal where that aberration should be.
"Elysia, the seal is empty... Instead of being broken from the inside out, it was broken from the outside in. It means whoever broke it found the seal that was on that moon." I say, horrified by the fact that that aberration is free.
"...It was that damned whore, wasn't it?" She refers to Pandora with a frightening calm.
"Probably, since the seal was on the moon... few could reach it and have the magic to break it." I say as she puts her hands on her face, looking like she wants to do something crazy while we stare at the empty seal.
"What are the chances I can still kill that monster? 2%, isn't it? She'll probably flee to the Abyss..." She says with a venomous tone, and while I'm disturbed, I'm satisfied that this bitch is having problems.
'She won't be able to keep me enslaved for much longer. She'll need her divine weapon back.' She can only use it on one person at a time, and she'll definitely need to enslave someone other than me because, although I'm strong, I'm not the best option.
"Delphina... if that weird bitch wasn't ignoring my contact, we could ask her to kill that aberration..." Elysia starts pacing around the room, getting more and more nervous.
"Things seem to be closing in on you, Elysia. First, you fought with the Goddess of the Abyss, then you fought with that aberration, and now you also have Pandora. Three enemies that, together, even you can't handle." I say mockingly, and she looks at me with anger.
"It doesn't matter... I still have cards up my sleeve... I just need time, and that aberration will also need time to recover her power... so I'll manage!" She says with enormous confidence.
"I've dealt with these problems before... I can deal with them again." She leaves the room with controlled calm.
"Come, we need to set things in motion." She says, and her "setting things in motion" is obviously trying to get the other goddesses to join her again, but I doubt it will work this time.
Many goddesses already died because of what she did in the past, and now the few goddesses still alive will hardly want to join. The Goddess of the Elves is strong but also smart and knows that getting into this is almost suicide.
While the Goddess of Nature is weak, timid, and incapable of saying no, but even if she joins, she would still be useless.
As for me, I'm being forced to help, but even though I'm strong, I don't do well in fights against those with highly varied and complex abilities.
'Things are closing in... but is it really a lost cause?' I follow Elysia while thinking about whether she can win or not. In my opinion, she really has a chance, because she has many versatile abilities for various situations.
And she has always managed to do well in many areas, always coming out on top. Unfortunately, I can only wait.
'How many years will this last this time?' I hope not too long. The first "war" lasted millions of years just in the first part, and it's still going on since the Goddess of the Abyss is alive.
'It's all Elysia's fault... She had to pick a fight with that monster; she could have just ignored everything.' Most goddesses used to ignore each other because we didn't like one another.
But Elysia had to be the spark that spread the fire, and it involved all of us, and now we have these problems.
"Elysia, your ideas had better work. I don't want to die, so if you're going to fail, at least release me first so I can disappear from the map." I tell her, but she ignores me and keeps walking.
"Morynna, I won't release you, not yet. You're still more useful tethered to this leash. If I were to release you now, I'd rather kill you than do that."
"I still need your knowledge of elemental magic. You were always the best goddess at handling the elements, and I don't deny that. So be quiet and watch me overcome these problems with an intellect you could never hope to have."
