CHAPTER 79: MURDER NIGHT PART 1

"Hey guys, let’s get going!" My group and I are returning from a mission, and we’ll finally be promoted to Class C adventurers and get a silver pass.

"Boss, there’s no need for this hurry, the guild isn’t going anywhere." We’re a group of 4 people, and it’s difficult to live here in this kingdom. Since we’re the kingdom on the furthest edge from the center, the security is naturally poor and the area is dangerous.

However, as a Class C adventurer with a silver pass, we’ll be able to go to another guild in another kingdom and have a better life. I want to give Lisandra a better life.

"Hahaha, let Lian be, he’s just happy, it’s a great opportunity," Lisandra, the group’s archer, says.

"Yeah, yeah, even I’m getting excited," Zane, the rogue of the group, agrees.

"You said the pass isn’t going anywhere? But the guild closes when it gets late, if we don’t hurry up, we’ll only be able to finish this tomorrow, I want to celebrate tonight," I’m Lian, the warrior of the team, while the one who keeps calm is Darian, our tank.

We’re just a few blocks away from the guild. The guild can be found everywhere, but the guild’s level depends on how valuable and the area. In our guild, the strongest warrior is Class C, which is quite low compared to other guilds.

This happens because most people leave as soon as they reach a certain class, but this is normal after all, who would want to stay in this dangerous and remote area with few job opportunities?

Soon the 4 of us are walking enthusiastically to the guild while I practically jump with excitement, I can’t wait to finish this, it’s like taking a new step towards a better life for me and my group.

Soon I push the guild door open, thinking of all the things Lisandra and I will be able to do together in the future.

"Hey boss, we’ve completed the mission, now you can..." The scene in front of me is disturbing, humanly impossible dismembered bodies.

I see the Class C warrior’s head served on a platter, while more than 16 bodies are scattered on the floor.

"Blergh," I vomit at the bloody scene, as an adventurer I’ve seen some pretty bad scenes, but nothing as disturbing as this.

Organs and guts everywhere, bodies sliced into pieces, blood on the walls and even on the ceiling.

A true massacre. I start hyperventilating, soon Darian pulls me out of the guild.

Only Darian and I saw what was inside.

"Calm down, man, breathe deeply and inhale slowly," He manages to keep his composure even in the face of such a scene, showing his experience as the oldest in the group.

I do as he says and slowly regain my calm.

"Guys, what’s wrong? You’re scaring me, what was in there?" Lisandra speaks, seeing my state.

"I think maybe some kind of monster invaded the guild, it’s full of bodies, brutal deaths that couldn’t have been done by a human," Darian tells Lisandra.

Crash!

"!!!" A sound of something like broken glass catches everyone’s attention.

"W-What was that?" Zane says.

"Do you think whatever did this is still in there?" Darian questions.

Crash

"Kyaaa!" Lisandra screams as a body is thrown out the window.

Soon we all look tensely at the door as someone comes out.

"A...person?" Zane questions doubtfully, a "person" in black armor comes out, no part of the body is visible, but the armor emanates a strange dark aura.

As if it were made of shadows, while the visor of the helmet has a red glow that gives it a frightening touch.

"W-Who are you?" I ask, but the person in the armor ignores me. I notice the armor is stained with blood in several places, soon the person in the armor starts to move towards me.

As if not caring about my allies nearby, the person in armor walks up to me, my allies and I are frozen in perplexity and fear, soon the person in armor raises their hand while a black sword appears.

It begins to descend the hand, I don’t even react due to the unusual situation.

"LIAN!" Darian pushes me as we both narrowly escape, I look at the place where I was in shock, a hole where the blade touched is now easily visible.

"LIAN, PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, WE NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP!" Hearing Darian say that, I recover from the shock, the fear still easily visible in my eyes.

"Lisandra and Darian, get into formation." Soon Darian is by my side while Lisandra and Zane are behind me.

We stare at the black armor, waiting for the first move.

"Here it comes," The armor gets into a fighting stance, we wait for the attack to come.

Slash, chop

"Darian..."

"Kyaaa!" Lisandra screams as we see Darian literally split in two from top to bottom. Darian, who was about 2 meters tall, a muscular man in leather armor and a wooden shield with an iron front, was instantly divided in two.

An impossible movement to follow, in an instant the tank of our team was dead.

"YOU BASTARD!" I rush forward, using my fury as fuel to overcome the fear. Lisandra begins to support me by shooting arrows, while Zane sneaks behind the opponent.

All my sword blows are easily blocked, this thing is toying with us.

"DIE, YOU DAMN THING!" I use what little I know about mana to try to strengthen my piercing power, but my attack is again easily blocked.

Zane reached behind the person in armor successfully, soon he tries to use the dagger to pierce the gaps in the armor plates, but...

"I-It broke?" Zane’s dagger breaks when trying to pierce the open part of the armor plates.

Splat

Instantly Zane’s head is blown up by a punch from the armor.

"Z-Zane... YOU BASTARD!" I attack even more desperately, now my attacks aren’t even coordinated as Lisandra does her best, but her arrows don’t even pierce the armor.

I feel like this thing is mocking us.

"WHY DID YOU KILL THEM, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, WHAT DID THESE INNOCENT PEOPLE DO TO YOU?" My attacks don’t even make this thing move from its place, while I feel my hands and arms hurt from hitting directly.

It’s as if my sword is hitting something harder than steel, my arms tremble with each blow due to the vibrations.

"Because it’s fun," A muffled but clearly feminine voice comes from within the armor, I can’t comprehend at first what I heard, pausing my desperate attacks.

"F-Fun?... Fun... IS THIS FUN FOR YOU, YOU MONSTER?" My fury increases as I try to hit this thing with everything I have.

"Yes, it’s very fun, at least satisfying," The voice is completely deceptive, a voice that could be called beautiful but could never be associated with this cruel killer in armor that seems to be around 1.95 meters tall.

"That girl, do you love her?" The being in the armor doesn’t even pay attention to me, it defends my blows even without looking at me while asking.

"DON’T TOUCH HER!"

"I see, you love her... That makes it even more fun."

I try everything to divert his attention.

"LISANDRA, RUN AWAY NOW!" I scream desperately to Lisandra.

"I-I can’t abandon you, Lian," She says in a tearful tone.

"LISANDRA, GO AWAY NOW, I DON’T WANT YOU TO DIE!" I scream desperately for her to flee from here, we won’t beat this thing, it’s impossible.

"How fun, do you think you have time to worry about the sweet archer maiden?"

"I WON’T LET YOU KILL HER, YOU MONSTER!"

Sniff, sniff

I hear a sound like this thing is sniffing something.

"She’s pregnant..." I feel like this thing has given a cruel smile under the gloomy helmet as it says that Lisandra is pregnant.

"Pregnant..." I murmur upon hearing the news, I can’t believe I’m going to have a child with Lisandra.

"How wonderful, I wonder what the taste of a pregnant woman is like, if the scent has changed, perhaps the flesh is more flavorful?"

"W-What... F-Flavorful..." I say desperately, soon I realize, this thing is not human, it is a monster, no human would ever be like this, no human would wonder what the taste of a pregnant woman’s flesh would be and compare it to other meats.

"LISANDRA, RUN AWAY NOW!" I scream even more desperately to Lisandra, I just learned that Lisandra will have a child, I can’t let her die here, at least she must survive.

I see Lisandra cry, she turns to try to run, but in an instant the black armored monster is in front of her, I am perplexed by this speed.

"LISANDRA, GET OUT OF THERE!" In a quick motion using all my strength, I try to approach, but what I see shatters my hope.

Lisandra is dismembered in an instant, her body is torn in two, separating her torso from her legs, her arms and legs were cut off while she was decapitated, separating her body into several pieces.

I freeze with tears in my eyes, I see the monster raise the head up and tilt the neck slightly, the part of the helmet opens slightly while this thing apparently begins to eat Lisandra’s arm.

I watch everything in total disbelief.

Unable to believe that such a thing is happening, the sound of bones being crushed making me want to wish this was just a terrible nightmare as I feel nauseous.

I see the monster throw away the half-eaten arm.

"In the end, the taste is not much different from a normal woman, how disappointing," The monster speaks as if not satisfied with the result.

"YOU DAMN MONSTER, GO TO HELL!" I run desperately towards this monster as I cry in denial, Lisandra can’t be dead, this can’t be real, it’s just a damn nightmare.

Soon the monster makes a movement, suddenly I’m in a flowery place, I look around at the vast field illuminated by the sun’s light, a contrast to the gloomy night from which I judge to be a nightmare.

I see Lisandra waving to me, her beautiful smile that is captivating as she wears a flower crown and a white dress.

"Why did you take so long, Lian?" She runs up to me and hugs me, I hug her back and kiss her, forgetting that terrible nightmare, I knew that wasn’t real, I knew Lisandra was still alive.

"..."

"Pff, what a strange guy, who makes a kissing expression when being split in two from top to bottom?" The armor speaks to the split body that now falls under the effect of gravity.

Soon the being in the armor goes after its next victims to entertain itself until it is satisfied.
