The Devil's Betrothed
Chapter 798: Isis’ True Colors
CHAPTER 798: ISIS’ TRUE COLORS
Drayce greeted him with a light bow, as Grianor was the King here, and then began explaining how they ended up here.
"...As our mates were taken away, we are here to take them back," Drayce’s calm and dignified voice reached everyone. "We have nothing against the Heaven Realm. If you free our mates and allow us to take them back, with the promise that no one from the Heaven Realm ever bothers us again, we assure you, none of us will bother you as well."
Isis mocked softly, "Are weak earthlings even capable enough to cause us any bother? Do not overestimate yourselves. Just listen to us and submit the hellfire already—then you are free."
Drayce, who had remained calm out of respect for the King, turned to look at Isis. His gaze was cold and his words sharp. "If we are that insignificant, you wouldn’t be so restless and wouldn’t have abducted my mate, Deity Isis. Your recklessness simply shows how big a threat you consider us and how scared you are."
"Mind your words. You are talking to the Queen here," Isis said coldly.
"Then, deity Isis, I urge you to be righteous and bring Deity Sierra here—whom you have been keeping captive," Drayce added before she could refute having Sierra. "I witnessed you take her away after faking the show of pushing her into the Celestial Hollow."
"You earthling, you shouldn’t lie—"
Grianor raised his hand to stop her. "He is not finished yet. Whether he is lying or not, we will decide once he finishes."
Isis clenched her fists and stepped back, her gaze shifting around as if to signal something.
Grianor instructed Drayce, "Continue."
Drayce obeyed. "The previous Deity of Earth is here in the Heaven Realm—Deity Isis’ captive. The reason the Deity of Fire was suddenly angered and caused hellfire destruction was because her friend was thrown into the Celestial Hollow in front of her. But it was all a plot orchestrated by Deity Isis, and Deity Sierra is still captive."
Drayce had already told Seren and Ember that Sierra was alive, as both had been deeply hurt thinking they had lost her.
Grianor turned to Isis, "Deity Isis, do you wish to say something in your defence?"
Isis looked at him, her gaze suddenly hurtful. "My sovereign, I ask you. Do you trust these earthlings over your own wife, the Queen, who wants nothing but to protect this heaven realm?"
"As the one making the decision, I have to be impartial. I am not your husband at this moment, but just the King of Heaven," Grianor said, without a tinge of emotion. "And as you are Queen, you must have answers to your actions. No deity, especially you and I, we do not have the free right to act on our will. We must provide an explanation."
"You want an explanation, my sovereign?" As she said this, the hurtful expressions on her face were replaced with a wicked smirk and mockery. "Sure."
The sudden change in her shocked everyone, while Grianor stood there as calm and composed like before.
She put forward her hand; a divine magic emitted from her hand, and the next moment a bright crystal full of the most powerful divine energy appeared in the air, supported by the magic emitting from her hand.
Loud gasps were heard from the deities, as all of them were shocked, while Grianor’s gaze turned cold—a tinge of anger appearing in the eyes of the ever-so-calm and composed deity.
Meanwhile, the four captives and Evanthe didn’t know what it was, as they had never heard or read about it. All they could tell was that it was something really powerful—beyond what they could even control.
Seren, who had the power to look through any kind of energy, mumbled, "It’s the universe itself."
Drayce looked at her. "Do you know what it is?"
She shook her head and said, "I can just tell, if this thing is destroyed, everything that ever existed will cease to exist. There won’t be any life."
Isis’ mocking laugh was heard as it brought everyone back to their senses.
"Grianor," she said, dropping any respect towards him, "this is my answer, my defense. Do you want to challenge it?" She laughed, without waiting for his reaction, full of herself. She smirked at him. "Initially, I didn’t plan to indulge your role as a King for long, but today I still gave you one last chance to take my side, to see if you really value me or consider me something. But... but yet, you disappointed me once more. Even though you do not know these earthlings, you are already taking their side, completely disregarding me. But now, no more."
"You shouldn’t be having this," Grianor told her, his words and gaze sharp. "This is not something you possess or play with."
She chuckled. "But I already possess it." She looked at that bright crystal floating just a few inches over her fingers. "You know the meaning of being able to control it, don’t you?"
Not waiting for his reply, her gaze full of arrogance, she then looked at all the deities. "You all must recognize me as the most powerful deity now. Only the most powerful deity has the ability to even reach this crystal, let alone control it.
"With your King Grianor already having lost most of his powers due to hellfire, he can’t control this crystal. It’s now in my possession. This Celestial Crystal of life is the reason all three realms exist that means I control all the three realms. So, you all have a last chance to make a decision—to submit to me and accept me as the sole Sovereign of this Heaven realm."
The deities felt conflicted. Some were in favour of Isis already, but some still had an inclination towards their King.
"Isis, I ask you to stop, or I assure you the consequences would be unthinkable for you," Grianor said coldly.
Isis looked back at him, this time her gaze hateful. "If I was her, would you have said the same or let her rule the three realms just as she pleased? The deity you cherished the most—the Deity of Water?"
"She wouldn’t be like you," he said. "I am giving you a last chance. Return it to its rightful place, and you wouldn’t be punished harshly."
Meanwhile, at her mention, Evanthe was taken aback. Why is she bringing me between them? But at least she is showing her true colours in front of entire heaven realm.
Solon looked at Evanthe and sighed, then turned his attention back to the matter.
Solon said, "Deity Isis, I urge you to listen to the Sovereign."
"Solon?" Isis said. "The moment I take over this Heaven realm, the first deity that is thrown down the Celestial Hollow to cease to exist will be you."
Solon remained calm. "I do not mind jumping into the Celestial if Deity Isis lets go of the Crystal of Life. My life is insignificant in front of what you are holding in your hand."
"So righteous?!" she glared at him. "If it were not for you, who helped Sierra, she wouldn’t have escaped with Hellfire."
"Now I look at you, Deity Isis," Solon said, admitting what he did, "that was certainly the best decision I made for the all three realms."
