CHAPTER 112: 112: IT’S YOU WHO ARE SICK, YOUR WHOLE FAMILY IS SICK (PART 1)_1

Ever since Dong Huiying had prepared a meal with both stunning taste and appearance, consisting of stir-fried pig intestines and green vegetables, Little Wu, Liang Yuening, began to observe her with or without intention.

He would glance at her from time to time, and sometimes when Dong Huiying caught him, he wanted to glare back ferociously in line with his temperament; yet, when it came down to it, he would just grunt, giving off a standoffish vibe. This confused Dong Huiying to no end; what on earth was the boy up to?

That day, after applying a black mud facial mask, Dong Huiying squatted by the riverside, looking at the reflection in the water, which glittered like a mirror and reflected her own face.

She touched her cheeks, "Hmm, it seems the freckles have faded quite a bit?"

In the past, her face was covered in freckles, but these days, continuing to use the black mud mask had made her skin a tad whiter and reduced the freckles by more than half. She looked so much better than before, almost pleasing to the eye now.

"Ha!" Liang Yuening, who was picking up water by the river, looked at her with disdain.

Hum, look at how smug she is!

So what if the freckles have lessened?

Well, although she indeed looks a bit better, it’s just a tiny bit, mind you!

Dong Huiying, hearing Yue Ning’s mocking laugh, rolled her eyes in annoyance and got up, walking towards the Liang family home without looking back and with her hands clasped behind her.

Yue Ning was taken aback, but then he lifted the carrying pole, with a bucket hanging from each iron hook. Tall with long legs, he walked with steady steps, catching up to Dong Huiying in just two or three strides.

Dong Huiying gave him a glance, then pressed her lips downwards and hurried forward with her short legs.

The faster she walked, the faster he followed. If she took two steps, he only needed one. In any case, she couldn’t shake him off as Liang Yuening followed right behind her.

She was getting quite irritated.

"Liang Yuening?!" She halted and turned to look at Yue Ning, utterly confused about what was going through his head.

Yue Ning’s brow furrowed, "What?" He said loudly, as if he wasn’t deaf.

Dong Huiying was taken aback for a moment.

"You’re actually asking me what?" She said with a mix of anger and laughter, "Shouldn’t it be me asking you? I mean, you’re like a ghost, hovering behind me since this morning—watching me apply my mask, following me to the river to wash my face.

When is such a coincidence not deliberate? It’s as if we spite each other, yet you still insist on coming closer to me."

Yue Ning curled his lips slightly, "Can’t I fetch water, can’t I go home?"

"I..." Deep breaths, don’t get angry, life is but a play.

She forced a smile that didn’t quite resemble a smile. "Sure, absolutely!"

She stepped aside and bent over to make a ’please’ gesture. "Come on, after you, please go ahead!"

Switching the order around should be fine, right?

Having this brat behind her made her nervous, always with a sense of impending threat as if she might be attacked from behind.

If he really stabs her in the back, won’t she be at a great disadvantage?

"Crazy."

Yue Ning’s face took on a slightly ashen tone.

Dong Huiying: "..."

You’re the crazy one, your whole family is crazy!

"Hmph," she tossed her head and couldn’t be bothered to engage with him any longer, storming back to the Liang family’s yard, fuming.

Watching her retreating figure, Yue Ning touched his neck, "Definitely crazy." Despite his complaint, he picked up his pace again and quickly followed her.

He had to keep an eye on her. Though she seemed better lately, he was afraid she might revert to her old ways in just a few days.

And what if all this was just an act? She could deceive for a moment, but surely not for a lifetime, right? There would come a time when her true nature would show!

In any case, he had to keep an eye on her, ready to alert his brothers at the slightest hint of trouble!
