The Divine Doctor And A Common Farmer
Chapter 35: Handsome and elegant (2)_1
CHAPTER 35: 35: HANDSOME AND ELEGANT (2)_1
’Brother Chen’ gathered up the white cloth banner. He was left-handed, accustomed to using his left hand for tasks. Even when helping people with writing family letters, he had used his left hand. As for his right hand... Dong Huiying watched and gradually noticed something amiss.
Could it be that his right hand was injured?
Was his right hand disabled?
’Brother Chen’ stood up straight, and he was quite tall.
Among the Liang Family Brothers, Third Brother Shujun stood 184 centimeters tall, Fourth Brother Haoming was 186 centimeters, Little Wu Yue Ning was 185 centimeters, and even the slightly shorter Xiaoliu Yixuan was a good 183 centimeters tall.
Yet, this ’Brother Chen’ seemed to be a few centimeters taller than the Liang Family Brothers. By estimation, he was probably about 188 centimeters tall. He wasn’t burly, but neither was he frail; instead, he had an air of stateliness that was cool and refreshing.
Even in his coarse hemp clothing, he couldn’t conceal the noble bearing he was born with.
’Brother Chen’, looking like a man with many worries, walked back and suddenly bumped into a person. He instantly snapped back to awareness, "Miss, are you alright?"
He looked down at the much shorter young girl and immediately saw a face full of dark moles. His body stiffened and then he froze on the spot.
Dong Huiying didn’t realize anything was amiss and hastily assured him that she was fine.
’Brother Chen’ paused for a moment, his voice was melodious, like the music of a Guqin in the woods or the tune of a Jade flute.
"I find Miss somewhat familiar, have we met somewhere before?"
Underneath the bamboo hat, the handsome and elegant man’s expression slightly hardened. His eyes carried a depth of seriousness and a sharp coldness, staring fixedly at the young girl in front of him—his demeanor was contemplative, but also with a hint of suspicion and confusion.
"We’ve met?" she paused and then exclaimed, "Ah, maybe, perhaps?" she secretly wondered if this man was an acquaintance of Dong Dabao’s.
She hesitated to engage further, but then ’Brother Chen’ suddenly groaned and pressed his stomach, "My stomach is a bit painful. Miss Dong, could you possibly assist me?"
Was he really an acquaintance of Dong Dabao?
She nodded foolishly, and so, ’Brother Chen’ asked her to help carry the white cloth banner and his stool. "Please help me hold these for a moment. My home isn’t far from here—would you mind taking me back? This stomach problem of mine is a chronic issue, flaring up from time to time, and right now it really hurts quite a bit."
"It’s no trouble at all," she thought of doing a good deed for the day and thus accompanied ’Brother Chen’ home. However, for some reason, she had a strange feeling inside her. The feeling seemed without rhyme or reason, and moreover, although this man walked behind her, his gaze was always locked on her, giving her the sensation of a thorn in her back.
"This is it."
Stopping outside an inn, ’Brother Chen’ once again thanked Dong Huiying.
She planned to leave immediately, but suddenly, ’Brother Chen’ took off his bamboo hat, and in an instant, a handsome and elegant face appeared before her.
The man’s chiseled features were stunning. He had seen all the world’s splendor, endured life’s hardships, and understood the ways of the world. His brows hid a weathered look that belied his age. Clearly in his twenties, he already had strands of white in his temples—the white hairs gathered and tied behind his head.
In his brows was a hint of melancholy, a trace of sorrow; he had a noble bearing, yet in his dark eyes was a cold, detached expression. He stood before her as if he was at the far end of the horizon, and even though his lips curved into a gentle arc, his expression was cold.
Dong Huiying was mesmerized in an instant, all because the allure of beauty can be so bewildering.
He was a completely different type—tall without arrogance, calm and self-restrained, seeming more profound and far-reaching than any man she had ever met...
Brother Chen, Liang Zhichen, the eldest brother of the Liang family, Liang Zhichen.
This man was indeed Liang Zhichen.
