CHAPTER 69: 69: RISE TO THE CHALLENGE (PART 3)_1
The wolf pack was vast and Shujun was at the end of his rope. But his thinking was simple, kill one to break even, kill two to make a profit. Yixuan had been sent away by him; he had no worries about protecting him anymore, but suddenly—"Third Brother!!"
Shujun turned his head and then, his eyes went wide, "Little Liu??" He was furious. Yixuan hadn’t left, he actually came back??
Yixuan was carrying the kitchen knife that Third Brother had given him earlier to defend himself with, and he rushed to Third Brother’s side.
"We brothers, live together, die together!"
Abandoning an older brother to escape and barely survive alone? No, that was not the Liang family’s way!
Shujun clenched his teeth, "Foolish bravery!"
He was so angry he wanted to slap Liang Xiaoliu to death.
At this moment, he would have preferred if Yixuan was a coward. But with a Silver Wolf charging at him, he didn’t have time to blame Yixuan and quickly swung his axe at the Silver Wolf.
At the same time, the pack had already surrounded the two of them, it seemed like today the brothers were truly going to die together.
But just then, another person broke through the encirclement.
"Third Brother, Yixuan—!!"
Haoming charged over, empty-handed.
"Fourth Brother!"
Yixuan was instantly overjoyed!!
Before entering the mountains, he had made numerous presumptions and even thought that Fourth Brother had met with misfortune. But now seeing his living brother, his spirits immediately lifted, although their situation was dire.
The three brothers regrouped, with Yixuan and Haoming flanking Third Brother Shujun on either side.
Yixuan’s martial skills were not as good as his brothers’. Being such a gentle man, heavy with the air of books and overly refined, it was obvious at a glance that he was not good at fighting, but he clumsily shielded Third Brother, who was now the most heavily wounded among them.
Haoming realized the situation was bad, especially for Third Brother, who was covered in gore.
He was consumed by a moment of gloom, his punches and kicks became unmeasured as if venting his anger, he harshly battered the wolves to the flesh.
At the same time, outside the wolf pack, Dong Huiying was anxiously hopping up and down. "These idiots, ah!"
She gathered a pile of branches, tore off one of her sleeves to tie them together, and fashioned a temporary torch, then her petite frame quickly dashed into the fray.
Dong Huiying might have been small, but she was a Hercules.
Like a true Wolf King suddenly surging forth amidst a pack of vivacious huskies, the moment she joined the fight, she instantly turned the tide of the battle, also easing the pressure on the three brothers.
But the sheer number of wolves was overwhelming, and with wolves being savage creatures, even if she were the Wolf King herself, there were concerns of neglecting one front while focusing on another, slipping into chaos.
"Liang Haoming, catch!"
After knocking out a wolf with a punch from a distance, Dong Huiying tossed the make-shift torch toward Haoming. "Light it, they’re afraid of fire, use it to drive them away!"
Liang Haoming was stunned for a moment and then, he took out the flint and lit the torch.
Whether it would be effective or not was unknown, but in the moment, they were in a desperate situation, so it was worth a shot.
It was getting dark, with nightfall approaching.
When the torch was lit, the wolves closest to the three brothers hesitated.
Haoming might have had a bit of a poker face and been emotionally dense, but otherwise, he was pretty normal. Seeing an opportunity, he immediately used the torch to chase away the wolves surrounding the brothers. At the same time, Shujun quickly followed suit, stripping off his outer coat to wrap around his axe, lighting it on fire, and helping Haoming to drive away the encircling wolf pack.
