Patients began to arrive steadily, and the speed of treatment was slightly slower compared to usual. Liang Xiaolin’s speed was indeed a lot slower than his, and this was the main reason Li Mingwu had assigned her here.

"Alright, have a good lunch. Get ready for the battle in the afternoon," Liu Banxia stretched lazily.

Liang Xiaolin nodded, a sense of disappointment washing over her. She had been working in the Emergency Department for some time and had often heard the nurses chatting. They frequently mentioned Liu Banxia, praising him for various things, and naturally, his speed in treating patients. Liu Banxia was baffled, as were the other medical staff in the emergency room. What had happened this time? The involvement of hospital management indicated this was no small matter. Had a patient complained about Shoutian?

"Shoutian, go find out what’s happening," Zhang Yun suggested.

Liu Banxia nodded, took out his mobile phone, and dialed Shi Lei. But, after just two rings, Shi Lei hung up on him.

This made him even more worried because Shi Lei would never refuse his calls under any circumstances. Even if Shi Lei was in surgery, a nurse would answer for him. To hang up directly like this definitely meant something serious had occurred.

"Shoutian, have you offended anyone else or gotten involved in anything else recently? Try to recall," Wang Ying frowned and asked.

"Sister Wang, who else could I possibly offend? Have you heard anything? Did Qin Hai play some dirty tricks again?" Liu Banxia asked with a wry smile.

Wang Ying shook her head. "I haven’t heard anything. I guess Director Qin also just received the news."

Currently, Liu Banxia was utterly clueless. His first thought was about yesterday’s flight doctor incident. Since Shi Lei was currently rejecting his calls, he might be under investigation. But on second thought, that seemed unlikely. His actions during the flight doctor mission were standard procedure and permissible; they wouldn’t discipline him for that.

"I just asked my uncle-in-law. He’s in surgery right now, so he can only ask after he’s done," Xu Dan walked over with her phone.

"No problem, I’ll go to the Proctology Department and ask Director Jiang if he knows about this. He didn’t have any surgeries this morning." Having said this, Liu Banxia dashed off.

From his office, Director Qin watched Liu Banxia’s flustered state with satisfaction. He had known this kid would mess up eventually; all his previous efforts had been superfluous.

After some thought, he pulled out his mobile phone again.

"Old Wu, I think your hospital administration needs to seriously address the discipline issues in our Second Affiliated Hospital," Qin Hai said once the call connected.

"Exactly. If it weren’t for your notice, I wouldn’t have known such a major incident occurred. We should take this as a warning; it’s a wake-up call for all of us.

"My opinion? What opinion could I have? I’m the director of the Emergency Department, not General Surgery. Besides, I’m about to retire. Who would care about my opinion anyway?

"Hahaha, I’m not complaining. Retiring is my own choice. It’s just that I feel the young people nowadays lack that dedication to wholeheartedly serving patients that we used to have. And then everyone thinks I’m targeting him. Tell me, do I need to bother? Look, something has happened now, hasn’t it?

"Yes, yes, yes. Personally, I believe this must be dealt with severely. We absolutely cannot be lenient. Otherwise, what will our hospital become in the eyes of the public? Who would dare to come to us for treatment in the future?

"Haha, no need to thank me. A friend sent it to me, and I just thought you should be aware. Alright, that’s all for now. Okay, okay, we’ll find time to grab a drink together."

After hanging up, Qin Hai pumped his fist in excitement. Finally, a chance to vent his anger.

Meanwhile, Liu Banxia had reached the Proctology Department. After hearing his purpose, Jiang Tao frowned. For the hospital administration to directly suspend Liu Banxia’s admitting privileges, it definitely wasn’t a minor issue.

"Have you asked Shi Lei? Logically, General Surgery should have been notified first," Jiang Tao said.

"I called him, but he didn’t answer," Liu Banxia replied hastily.

"Director Jiang, what on earth is this about? How could I dare to accept benefits from patients? That one time in our Proctology Department, I accepted some fruit. Does that count?"

"Come, let’s go see Director Zhou," Jiang Tao stood up.

"The hospital administration said they received a complaint, with video evidence. They’ve sent the video to Director Zhou. Apparently, it’s causing quite a stir online, which is why the administration decided on a temporary suspension. Suspend first, investigate later."

"Damn it! Who the hell is trying to frame me? Director Jiang, I swear to God, if I took money from patients, may I die a horrible death!" Liu Banxia was getting desperate.

"Don’t get agitated. I think there might be some misunderstanding here," Jiang Tao said with a smile.

As they stepped out of the Proctology Department office, Liu Banxia’s phone rang. He quickly answered it.

"Boss..."

"Come back to the Emergency Department first. Director Zhou and I are both here," Shi Lei said and hung up.

Holding his phone, Liu Banxia paused for a moment, then looked at Jiang Tao.

"I’ll go with you. I want to see what exactly is going on too," Jiang Tao said.

Liu Banxia nodded gratefully. He was certain he had been set up. He wasn’t sure by whom yet, but this was definitely a serious matter. Furthermore, he suspected Qin Hai’s involvement. Even if he had genuinely accepted benefits from a patient, there should have been an investigation first, then a suspension. Now, it was suspension first, then investigation—clearly not the proper procedure.
