CHAPTER 95: DANIEL KNEW?

"Where is the good news?" Elara asked the first thing when she received a call from Justin.

The man, who was FaceTiming her, smirked.

"Have some patience, lady," the man said, then turned the screen to show her the view.

Elara’s brows furrowed at first when she saw him showing a group of men, but her expression eased as soon as she focused on the further end.

"Zoom in," she said, leaning back in her seat as she sat behind a computer.

With Justin’s help, who installed software in her system, her tracks were untraceable, and she was enjoying causing some trouble here and there.

Justin did as he was told, and Elara’s pupils dilated with excitement.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!" Sean was barking while kneeling on the ground.

"Roll over," one of the men in front ordered.

Sean looked up in hatred and agony, but, confronted by a team that threatened to destroy his other clubs, he felt helpless.

Elara’s lips twitched as her eyes sparkled with a rare pride. Justin noticed how the girl’s eyes turned predatory, like a tigress who knew she got her target under her paws and was ready to shred it to pieces, like they used to get when she used to operate earlier, and was really glad he could do something for it.

Elara felt delighted at the sight, but what she liked most was the helplessness in Andrew’s eyes while he stood there and watched his friend being treated like a dog.

The man had made a habit of staying silent and acting as an observer when it was she who was getting bullied. So it was good to see him standing just like that, unable to do anything, unable to help his friend, just like he never helped her.

However, if they thought this was over and that she was satisfied with it, they were wrong. This was just the beginning of the humiliation they would face.

"Are you recording?" Elara asked.

Justin turned the screen and nodded.

Since he was standing at the far end, nobody could see what he was doing, not like he was afraid of getting exposed. He just didn’t want anyone linking it to her and making a scene for her again.

"Good. Stop using those trafficked girls in your business. We won’t be so lenient next time," the man in the front said before he nodded at his men to leave.

The man nodded before they turned to leave, but not before kicking a few more things.

The shattering sound of the glass resonated with Sean’s shattered pride, who closed his eyes to contain his agony.

As soon as Justin left the building, he looked around before sighing.

"By the way, why did you send those men? I told you we had enough resources, didn’t I?" Justin asked.

Elara, who was eating the stuffed buns while Antonio glared at her because she refused to share even one, froze in her place when she heard those words.

What did he say? Send extra men? But she didn’t do anything like that.

"I never send any men," Elara said before standing from her place.

"Let me see them," she said.

Justin immediately became alert when he heard those words, and his gaze flickered to the men who were standing with his group of people, waiting for his order.

His eyes narrowed into slits.

"The men who came later, step out," Justin ordered.

The men looked at each other before doing so, and Elara looked at them carefully.

"Daniel’s men?" She asked, a bit confused and hesitant.

"Yes, ma’am! Ready for the next order, ma’am!" The men immediately saluted her, and as soon as they did that, Elara’s face turned pale.

Why?

Because no one was supposed to know about her involvement with Nocturnal hunters, especially not a man she had met recently, not when he was a mafia don himself. Her group was peculiarly anti-mafia.

How the hell did he even find out about it?

And how much did he know about her? Elara gulped, her fingers trembling around the phone.

She was about to ask Justin to immediately leave the place without those men and dissociate himself from them when she felt a swoosh of wind.

This familiar feeling...

She turned and just like she had thought, there he was... Sitting on the boss’s chair like he owned this place, his signature smirk lingering on his lips, his eyes drooped in a lazy and intoxicated manner as he played with the nozzle of his gun.

"Did my men help?" Daniel asked.

Elara swallowed hard.

Not because she was afraid of the gun in his hand, but because her team had recently attacked a club, a subsidiary of the Macros group that she found out about later.

Was that how he linked it to her? Was his team really so efficient?

Elara looked to the side, where Antonio was sitting relaxed, having encountered Daniel so many times, and, without replying to Daniel, to everyone’s surprise, she rushed to the bedroom and locked the door.

"What the—" Antonio raised his voice before looking at Daniel, who, rather than being surprised, was actually amused.

"Elara, open the door. I am here to talk." Daniel walked to the door and was about to knock, but stopped when he heard the sound of some shuffling.

He paused and quickly walked to the balcony, leaning towards the bedroom’s balcony.

And just like he had guessed, she was indeed going down through the pipes.

Antonio—"..." What was going on here?

Daniel—"..." Did I look that scary?

At the same time, Alen, who was on the call with a client since his boss had gone up to appease his woman, raised his brows when he saw Miss Elara running in his direction.

"Miss Elara? Do you need—" He stopped because she was already gone without even hearing him.

He saw her starting a bike, and his scowl deepened.

Where was she going at this hour? If they needed anything, he could bring it for them. Why did his boss—

Alen looked up and immediately understood what was going on the moment he saw his boss getting down from the pipes too.

What the hell?

Antonio looked at Daniel, quickly jumping down to catch his boss, and couldn’t help but suppress the urge to roll his eyes.

"..." Their building maintenance system has done so much to install the elevators and stairs, but look at these people going up and down through pipes as if they were in some kind of military training.
