The exorcism began in America.
Chapter 135: The Weapon Store
Hearing his lackey's words, Tao's face gradually turned deathly pale.
His eyes trembling, he looked toward Chu Feng in front of him. After careful discernment, he confirmed that his underling hadn't misidentified him.
"Damn it! Since when were your eyes so sharp?"
Caught in a difficult position, Tao angrily smacked his lackey, then managed to squeeze out an ugly, forced smile.
"Mr. Chu Feng… hello there…"
Though he was verbally greeting him, Tao kept his rifle raised, its barrel subtly aimed at Chu Feng's body.
Chu Feng didn't respond, instead casting a cool glance behind Tao and his men.
Following Chu Feng's gaze, Tao turned his head and also saw the two small bodies in the corner by the weapon shop's entrance; they were the shop owner's children.
"Damn!" The obsequious smile on Tao's face vanished instantly, replaced by a twisted, ferocious scowl.
"Fire!"
At his command, his already prepared lackeys began pulling their triggers while scattering in all directions.
BANG! BANG! BANG!...
RATATATAT!...
More than a dozen firearms, long and short, fired simultaneously, engulfing Chu Feng in a deluge of bullets.
Unfortunately, while such ordinary weapons could instantly turn an average person into a sieve, their target was one of humanity's top combatants.
A cacophony of CLANGS and SPARKS erupted against Chu Feng's body, yet failed to inflict any damage; he didn't even budge an inch.
BANG! BANG! BANG!...
Amidst the clamor of gunfire from Tao and his men, a distinctly different gunshot suddenly rang out. Each crack of this new weapon was followed by the heavy THUD of a body hitting the ground.
"Damn this monster!"
"Die already! Just die!"
Seeing his men fall one by one while Chu Feng, who wasn't even trying to take cover, remained completely unscathed, Tao's composure finally shattered.
"Why won't you die?"
No way, I have to go! I have to get away from this monster at once!
Hiding behind cover, Tao was on the verge of a mental breakdown, his only thought to escape this Hell as quickly as possible.
Of course, his surviving lackeys felt the same.
Watching their comrades drop one after another, the mentally tormented lackeys all chose to hide behind cover, not daring to peek out.
The gunfire ceased temporarily, and silence returned to the surroundings.
From behind the cover, Chu Feng could hear their heavy, ragged breathing with exceptional clarity.
"Heh."
A trace of scorn flickered in Chu Feng's eyes as he reloaded with a new magazine.
CLICK!
Following the crisp sound, gradually approaching footsteps finally broke the remaining men.
"I'm not fighting anymore…" A figure suddenly darted out from behind a car parked in front of the weapon shop, fleeing swiftly into the distance.
BANG!
After the gunshot, the figure pitched forward, thudding onto the ground.
"Oh, God! Somebody save me!" Another figure, also hiding behind the car, now had tears streaming down his face.
Seeing the comrade who had been hiding right beside him turn into a corpse in the blink of an eye, a foul-smelling, dark yellow liquid slowly pooled beneath him.
And right in front of him, a pair of lifeless eyes stared intently.
He instantly recognized their owner.
It was the weapon shop owner's eldest daughter, barely eight or nine years old, strangled to death at the weapon shop's entrance by his boss, Tao.
As their gazes met, the man, already teetering on the edge of a breakdown, finally lost his sanity completely. He sat behind the car and began to wail loudly.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! It wasn't me, it wasn't me!"
Tears and snot streamed down his face as he mumbled incoherent words.
Finally, he slowly picked up his handgun and stuffed the barrel into his mouth.
BANG!
After the gunshot, the man's body slumped powerlessly to the side.
Meanwhile, Tao, hiding behind a stone pillar, naturally paid no attention to his subordinate's inner turmoil.
He stared at the entrance of the nearby weapon shop, a glimmer of hope appearing as he vaguely recalled that the shop might have a back door.
A chance to survive!
Tao's eyes suddenly lit up. He stealthily peeked in Chu Feng's direction.
BANG! BANG! BANG!...
A series of crisp gunshots, like the Grim Reaper's roll call, slowly claimed the lives of all of Tao's remaining subordinates.
I can't delay any longer!
Looking at his few remaining men, a flash of ruthlessness crossed Tao's face.
He unzipped his leather jacket, revealing three grenades in his hand.
After pulling the pins, he leaned out and hurled the three grenades towards Chu Feng. Then, without a backward glance at the result, he dashed straight for the weapon shop's main entrance.
The safety levers on the grenades popped off the moment they left his hand; the countdown to detonation had begun.
At this moment, Chu Feng had the dark muzzle of his gun aimed at the last man, a tall, skinny white man cowering behind a billboard.
BANG!
The man, who had already despaired and given up struggling, fell heavily after the gunshot.
But in his final moment, a hint of grim satisfaction flickered in his eyes as he saw the three grenades arcing through the air.
You're going to die too!
Chu Feng naturally noticed the sounds from the weapon shop behind him. Just as he turned, three grenades were already flying towards his face.
"Hmm?"
Chu Feng frowned. His Telekinesis instantly enveloped the three grenades, deflecting them harmlessly in another direction.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Three consecutive explosions erupted, the intense blasts echoing throughout the street.
Chu Feng, wreathed in a golden glow, was naturally unharmed, but he had no intention of letting Tao, the grenade thrower, escape.
Having safely fled into the weapon shop, a look of wild joy spread across Tao's face. I actually survived that! I need to get out of America as soon as possible!
His attention entirely focused on the weapon shop's back door, Tao failed to notice the corpse of the shop owner he had killed lying on the ground.
The corpse's arm lay stiffly outstretched, blocking the corridor leading to the back door.
AH!
As Tao sprinted frantically, he took a step and an unexpected obstacle on the ground made him instantly lose his balance. Propelled by immense momentum, his entire body flew forward.
Directly in front of him was the sturdy brick wall of the weapon shop.
THUD!
A dull impact resounded, simultaneous with the deafening roar of the three grenades exploding outside the shop.
Clutching his head, Tao struggled to his feet, leaning against the wall for support. He shook his head, and the dizziness gradually began to subside.
Just then, a somewhat hot object was pressed firmly against his forehead.
