The exorcism began in America.
Chapter 162: The Snowman Inside the Air Force Base
Walking out of Tonya's home, Chu Feng glanced in the direction he needed to go before deciding to press on.
Although he now understood the truth about the snowmen, so much time had passed that the victims had long since boarded the train to the next world.
All that remained here were their bodies, mere husks eroded by the Bizarre.
"BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ..."
"Boss, the client has increased the commission and added an urgent task! They need you to head to Eielson Air Force Base immediately—the Bizarre has appeared there!"
Lin Qiu's tone was urgent, clearly indicating the direness of the situation.
"There? Now?"
Chu Feng frowned. This news didn't align with his predictions at all; it wasn't even time for the Bizarre to emerge for their hunt.
Could my actions have triggered this Bizarre upheaval?
After hanging up, he scanned his surroundings. The deathly still city district seemed devoid of any sign of life.
He had no idea how many snowmen the Bizarre had created. Recalling the figures that had swarmed the buildings the night before last, Chu Feng's heart sank a little.
How many lives would it take for an Evil Spirit-level entity to become a devil? Could this small town even satisfy its appetite?
With a flutter of his Spiritual Wings, Chu Feng's form instantly transformed into a streak of golden light, shooting eastward toward Fairbanks City.
「...」
"Oh God, save your worshippers!" A teary-eyed recruit knelt in the middle of the hallway, ceaselessly pleading for the mercy of his faith.
"Fuck, move it! What's the use of kneeling and praying now? Hoping to see the cross spin around?"
Glancing back at the frost rapidly spreading behind him, Felix kicked aside the soldier who was kneeling on the corridor floor, weeping and praying.
The Rockefeller Family just agreed to give me another chance; I can't afford to lose my life so easily here.
The soldier, reeling from the blow, had barely struggled to his feet.
The next second, the rapidly spreading ice and snow swept past his boots.
"God—"
His cry of terror was abruptly cut short.
Then, a Bizarre smile spread across the soldier's tear-streaked face.
Panicked footsteps echoed from various floors of the building.
Confronted by the sudden Bizarre phenomenon, even these normally well-trained soldiers were thrown into disarray.
"Fuck, you damn bastards, all of you, quiet down!"
The soldiers, who had just fled the building in panic, were immediately brought to their senses by the furious roar.
"It's General Mark Kelly!"
Looking at the base commander before them, the soldiers gasped for breath, still glancing fearfully over their shoulders. The atmosphere of panic hung heavy in the air.
The dormitory building was already surrounded by several squads of heavily armed soldiers.
Seeing the grim, orderly scene around them, the soldiers who had just escaped with their lives finally calmed down a little.
"All of you, get to the rear! If you've calmed down, go get your weapons! Today, I want to see just how powerful this Bizarre thing is!"
Gazing at the now silent building ahead, the Air Force Base commander's expression was extremely grim. So many soldiers dead... my career is probably finished.
"Fuck!" Cursing inwardly, his face ashen, he issued a direct order.
"Starting now, no matter what comes out of there, if you see anything, open fire immediately!"
"Yes, sir!"
The heavily armed soldiers responded in unison. Gripping the new Military-issued weapons equipped with Exorcism properties, they stared intently at Dormitory Building One.
Despite wielding the latest Exorcism weaponry, the soldiers' hearts were filled with trepidation.
Ordinary Bound Spirits are one thing, but why do we, common soldiers, have to face such powerful Bizarre entities?
And didn't they say a few days ago that people from the Exorcism Department had arrived at the base?
Where the hell did those bastards go?
A torrent of anxious thoughts flooded the soldiers' minds.
The next moment, a loud shout instantly snapped everyone to attention.
"Something's coming out! Open fire!"
BANG!
No one knew which soldier fired the first shot, but a mere half-second later, countless gunshots and explosions thundered across the entire base.
Salt rounds of various calibers, bullets etched with some kind of Rune, even specially made rifle grenades—all sorts of ammunition hammered the building's entrance.
For a moment, the entrance to the dormitory building was choked with gunpowder smoke; the sound of shattering bricks and glass was completely drowned out by the barrage.
Obscured by the dust and smoke, the situation at the dormitory building's entrance was impossible to see.
"Cease fire!"
An officer's command rang out, and the gunfire quickly died down.
As the smoke and dust slowly began to settle, the scene before the building gradually came into view.
The next moment, a terrified shout instantly caused a commotion.
"Fuck! These weapons have no effect on the Bizarre!"
"Damn it, the snowman is still there!"
"What do we do? Does anyone know what to do?"
"Fuck, using this stuff against the Bizarre is like some kind of sick joke from God!"
"..."
The panicked soldiers involuntarily stumbled backward. Some, seeing the snowman emerge from the building, turned and fled outright.
"Open fire! No running! Everyone open fire, now! Follow orders!"
At the officer's sharp command, most soldiers managed to suppress their terror and once again pulled the triggers, firing at the snowman.
But the gunfire did nothing to stop the Bizarre's advance. This snowman, now possessing an entirely different level of Strength, pushed forward relentlessly through the barrage.
The Bizarre smile on its crimson lips sent shivers down their spines.
Finally, as the snowman drew closer, the soldiers' morale completely shattered.
"Fuck, this is a suicide mission!"
"I... I'm sorry!"
"..."
The soldiers' desperate cries echoed as their resolve crumbled. More and more of them threw down their weapons and turned to flee.
"Join us!"
The Bizarre snowman's voice was shrill, a dark gleam flashing in its black eyes.
The next moment, the Bizarre Strength that had, unbeknownst to them, been lurking inside the soldiers' bodies erupted, one after another.
The fleeing soldiers froze in place. Smiles appeared on their faces as they slowly straightened up, turned, and began to walk slowly to stand behind the snowman.
In the distance, other soldiers who hadn't participated in this confrontation with the Bizarre witnessed the incredibly Bizarre scene, their faces instantly turning deathly pale.
"Damn it! We have to get out of here, now!"
And just like that, the entire Eielson Air Force Base was thrown into utter chaos.
Meanwhile, Felix and Colton, who had never harbored any hope for this confrontation, had already reached the military vehicle parking area within the base.
