The Exorcism Story of Hikigaya Hachiman
Chapter 90: There Are No Evil Spirits at Miko’s House
On this day, the evil spirits at Miko Yotsuya's house faced utter destruction.
When Miko Yotsuya left, everything was fine. But when she returned, the evil spirits that had been freely roaming the house suddenly realized, to their shock, that she had unexpectedly brought back one man and two women.
Before the evil spirits could even figure out what was going on, the man leading them suddenly pulled out a knife from somewhere and started chasing them, slashing wildly...
"..."
Miko Yotsuya sat on the sofa, completely dumbfounded, watching Hachiman Hikigaya chase away the evil spirits that had been troubling her.
Because she couldn't see the spirits, Komachi, although knowing Hachiman was exorcising, found his running back and forth very comical.
And Rimuru?
Once allowed into the living room by Miko Yotsuya, Rimuru grabbed a large bottle of cola from the fridge and was drinking it greedily while leaning on the sofa.
"Um, drinking cola like that will give you a stomach ache~" Komachi kindly warned Rimuru, watching how boldly it gulped the cola.
"It's fine, I'm a slime. I'll just release the gas later..." Rimuru said.
To prove it wasn't lying, Rimuru hugged the cola bottle and transformed back into its slime form.
Its body churned and countless bubbles surfaced.
Perhaps drinking cola by mouth wasn't enough — after releasing the gas from the cola it just drank, Rimuru swallowed the entire bottle in one gulp.
Then it started shaking and wobbling like it was performing some kind of ritual dance.
When Rimuru transformed back into human form, its face was full of sheer bliss.
Komachi and Miko Yotsuya: ........
...
"Congratulations, host has successfully exorcised a high-level evil spirit, earned 500 spirit coins..."
With the final scream of the last evil spirit in the room, Hachiman Hikigaya finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He stood up, wiping the sweat off his forehead, then stared thoughtfully at the 9,000+ spirit coins displayed on the panel.
How many spirits had he just defeated?
How had Miko Yotsuya survived in such a place, comparable to a demon's lair?
After finishing with the spirits, Hachiman turned to leave and meet everyone else.
But just as he was about to step out of the room, a strange male voice suddenly whispered into his ear:
"From now on, please take care of that child..."
"?"
Hachiman turned around confused, but there was no one else in the room.
Was it just his imagination?
Still puzzled, he returned to the living room.
The first thing he saw was Rimuru's ecstatic face.
"Did anything happen while I was gone?" Hachiman asked, looking at Komachi for an explanation about what made Rimuru like this.
"It drank a whole bottle of cola..." Komachi said, twitching at the culprit that made Rimuru like this.
This was the first time she'd seen someone get knocked out by cola.
"Well..." Hachiman thought better of it and decided not to dwell on it.
He really didn't want to imagine that the Rimuru who scared off god-level evil spirits was defeated by a bottle of cola.
"Everything's been taken care of."
Sitting down on the sofa beside Komachi, Hachiman smiled reassuringly at the nervous Miko Yotsuya and shared the good news that all the evil spirits were dealt with.
"Really? I'm so grateful!" Miko Yotsuya said.
Although she knew if he took care of it, the spirits would be gone, hearing the final confirmation made her feel a huge weight lift off her heart.
She was visibly relieved!
Now knowing she'd forever be free from those spirits, Miko's tone brightened noticeably.
To celebrate, Miko Yotsuya decided to take everyone out to have fun for a couple of days.
"Eh?!"
Komachi was momentarily stunned by the decision.
Then blinking, she suddenly realized something was off.
What did celebrating have to do with going out to play?
And she specifically said "everyone" should go!
Miko Yotsuya was clearly using the celebration as an excuse to get close to her big brother!
But obviously, other than Komachi, neither Hachiman nor Rimuru noticed Miko's sly intentions.
They both nodded in agreement when they heard her suggestion.
And so, half an hour later...
"Why is it like this?"
Miko Yotsuya's smile froze as she looked at Yurikawa Hana hanging on her arm, then glanced at the pair of Hikigaya siblings sitting together opposite her, and at Rimuru happily devouring food next to Hachiman.
She sighed in disbelief.
"Well, I thought it would be more fun to have more people when going out to play..."
Komachi smiled like a little fox as she explained.
The best way to counter Miko was to use her own "magic": her friend Yurikawa Hana.
After hearing from Hachiman last night that he would go to Miko's house today, Komachi immediately found Yurikawa Hana's contact and added her on Line.
Originally just a backup plan, it was unexpectedly put to use today.
"Yeah, yeah! Going out shopping is way more fun with more people!" Yurikawa Hana said, still unaware that she had just ruined her best friend's carefully laid plan.
"..."
Miko Yotsuya looked helplessly at the silly friend beside her who didn't even realize she had been sold out, sighing quietly.
"Well, at least all the evil spirits at home are gone. That's a good thing, right?"
Thinking this to comfort herself, Miko's mood gradually improved.
Especially under the lead of the lively Yurikawa Hana, the atmosphere at the table quickly became cheerful.
After lunch, Rimuru, still wanting more, patted its round belly and left the dining room.
Though it wanted to keep eating, the other guests were already shocked by its appetite.
Not wanting to trouble Hachiman and the others, Rimuru reluctantly put down its utensils and set its sights on the nearby arcade.
....
"Ugh, I'm really exhausted today..."
After playing in Chiba until nightfall and agreeing to meet again at the plaza tomorrow to continue playing, Miko Yotsuya dragged her tired body home.
Entering the house, as usual, she called out "I'm home!"
Then went into her room, carrying a pile of clothes to the bathroom.
"It feels surprisingly quiet today~"
Lying in the bathtub, Miko stared at the ceiling, appreciating the rare peace.
After all, ever since learning there was an evil spirit in the bathroom, she had been very cautious when bathing, never relaxing like this before.
After soaking a while, feeling sleepy, Miko wobbled back to her room.
When she drew the curtains, no terrifying giant eyes appeared outside.
No creepy spirits calling her "mom" lurked under the covers.
This life was truly wonderful!
Filled with gratitude toward Hachiman, Miko closed her eyes.
However, at that moment, a strange sound suddenly came from outside the house.
As the sound grew closer, an evil spirit's head suddenly broke through the glass and appeared in Miko Yotsuya's sight…
