Night falls on the Jennings Family estate.

Adam Jennings sits on the sofa in Lucas Jennings’ room, watching him climb into bed, ready to sleep, and can’t help saying,

Sadly, Scarlett is a girl; otherwise, he would squeeze into her room even if it meant sleeping on the floor.

Staying with Lucas is a second-best choice.

After all, Lucas’ room is directly below Scarlett’s. If something really happens, she’d sense it too.

Hearing Adam’s self-righteous tone, Lucas lies down and pulls up the covers, still muttering,

“You have other brothers, your brother’s on the third floor, yet you insist on squeezing in with me…”

Adam throws him a sideways glance,

“Why do you talk so much?”

Lucas pouts, lightly hums, “Taking up my room and complaining I talk too much. Lights off!”

The voice-activated lights in the room turn off in response, and the room instantly plunges into darkness.

After just a second, Adam turns them back on again.

“I’m not asleep yet, why turn off the light, leave it on.”

Lucas almost laughs in exasperation at his words, just about to sit up to scold him when Adam, self-absorbed, asks,

“Is Scarlett asleep too? Should we send her a message telling her not to sleep too deeply tonight?”

Lucas: …

“Brother Adam, trust me, if you dare message her to stay awake, not only will you be permanently blocked, but she won’t help you with the thief issue either.”

Lucas spoke with certainty.

Being Scarlett’s little lackey, Lucas surely understands Scarlett better than anyone. Since he said so, Adam… had no choice but to give up this idea.

Three in the morning.

Adam and Lucas are bundled together in sleep.

Meanwhile, both of them notice the sounds of struggling inside the room, hastily signaling to turn on the light.

With a snap, the light blazes brightly.

When they finally see the scene inside, both Lucas and Adam are stunned.

“This, is the thief who stole the jade?”

At the doorway, Adam looks at the little creature bound by rune chains, his expression difficult to describe,

“Why do I find it so familiar?”

Lucas says, “Of course, it’s familiar! It’s the thief who secretly lived in my sister’s new house!”

Inside, bound by the rune chains is none other than the Ear Mouse itself.

Lucas hides behind Scarlett, nervously glancing around inside the room.

Although they already knew this Ear Mouse was a demon, they hadn’t heard it speak before.

Listening to a somewhat cute big-eared flying squirrel emit an uncle’s voice, Lucas had to admit he was quite startled.

Adam is equally startled but quickly recovers, pointing at the bound Ear Mouse, questioning,

“It’s you who’s been stealing my jade materials every night?!”

Braxton hears Adam’s accusation, instantly shouting,

“I didn’t steal your stuff!”

Then turning to Scarlett, mewling tearfully, “Master, I really didn’t steal anything, you know, I’m not that kind of demon!”

Seeing it was Braxton bound inside, Scarlett knew she caught the wrong one.

Even though she knew, she didn’t immediately withdraw the chain, only asked,

“Why did you run here?”

Saying this, her eyes slightly narrowing,

“You didn’t turn yourself in as suggested earlier?”

Seeing Scarlett’s dangerous gaze, Braxton quickly shivers, hastily speaks,

“I did, I did! But the Mystic Regulation Office lectured me, fined me, then released me. I came specifically to find you, Master!”

Braxton, afraid she wouldn’t believe him, suddenly extends his long tail, presenting something to Scarlett.

The fluffy tail gently unfolds, revealing several pieces of currency of different values wrapped inside.

“This is the money I promised to compensate you with.”
