The Fate Of The World Is In My Hands, But All I Want To Do Is Eat!
Chapter 427: They ended up in Diane’s school
CHAPTER 427: THEY ENDED UP IN DIANE’S SCHOOL
"Has anyone heard from Alice recently?"
Though Alice wasn’t around, they tried to keep the friendship circle going and met up often. They got to know more about each other and actually formed a bond that, though it started off as them having an interest in Alice, made them interested in each other.
"I wish I could say yes." Diane said, slumping her head on the table, but her eyes were still fixed on her phone screen.
Currently, they were sitting at a cafe, each watching the news on Alice’s subjugation raid that was setting the whole world on fire.
There were so many who wanted to have an interview with her and so on and so forth.
"After that day, we never got to see her again and before we knew it, there was already news of her carrying out a subjugation on her own in Canada." Lance said.
"She’s not alone. Leo’s with her." Maki pointed out and they all looked at her with bland eyes.
"Same thing. Do you see him doing anything in the video?" Steph said. "The only times he shows up are when he’s cooking or he’s cooking. Gosh, I can’t believe he’s actually able to cook monster meat. Isn’t that like toxic?"
"Apparently, he knows how to get rid of the toxicity." Diane pointed out. "If not, would Alice be at her best if she were poisoned?"
"Hm, guess that makes sense."
Among them, there were three who were quiet. Two were staring at their phones like two lone puppies abandoned by their owner, and the other, who wasn’t good with communicating, was sketching in his sketch book.
Clarissa, Damian, and Nicholas.
Clarissa and Damian were the abandoned puppies, obviously. They always had little to say, but when it came to talking about Alice’s brilliance, they emerged as die-hard fans. They were so funny.
"Do you think she’s okay, though?" Steph asked, pursing her lips worriedly. "You know, that all incident before she left."
"My guess is, she decided to go right away to blow off some steam." Maki answered.
"Well, it’s about time that steam runs out, don’t ya think?" Diane asked, dropping her chin on her arm, and then yawned. "She has to at least make it back before the practical class, right?"
The expedition for the class of the awakened was already set. The kids need to gain practical experience to face monsters, even if it was just the low-level ones.
After their school was destroyed by the monster wave, ahem, all thanks to someone, the students had to relocate to other schools because the construction would take too long.
And in the process, they ended up in Diane’s school. While it might’ve seemed like a coincidence, it could also be said that ’someone’ helped Alice’s friends stick together so that it would be easier for her to find them when she returned.
Now, that was a bit unnecessary because Alice had already given up the idea of returning to school and was just going to level up, increase her stats, as well as hone all of her skills with the remaining time she had before an unforeseen situation arose.
She just might end up clearing all the gates and red zones in the world at this rate.
Another reason why they put all her friends together was that it would be easier to convince her to return to school like this.
If it were a place where the people she considered her friends were, then she would want to be there as well, hopefully.
"Alice is getting a medal." Clarisa suddenly said and their ears perked up.
"What? What channel is that?" They asked but didn’t even wait for her to respond as they cleaned behind her to watch it on her phone screen.
Alice stood next to the president of England, her face twisted like someone completely oblivious of what was going on.
She looked like she had stepped into that podium without even realizing it and had no idea what they were doing either, so she had that utterly confused expression on her face that made her seem hilarious.
They laughed.
"Girl doesn’t know why she’s getting a medal." Diane said as she laughed. "Just look at that look in her eyes."
"Who wants to bet with me that she’ll bolt before they get the chance to drag her for an interview?"
"Is that even something to bet about? We all know she’ll bolt. She already looks so confused, so it’s better to run before things get heated. That’s how Alice is." Maki said. "But still... She looks so good up on the podium."
"They’re giving her five medals." Steph pointed out.
"Gosh, I’m so jealous." Lance said.
"Haha, you can try to raid a red zone sometime and you’ll definitely get that many medals." Diane said and laughed. "We’ll be behind you to support you, lol."
"Yeah, right. I only have one life, thank you very much."
"She’s amazing." Clarissa exclaimed softly.
Damian watched Alice, a sense of longing crawling into his heart but he felt proud above all. She was helping the lives of so many and asking nothing in return.
She was such a selfless hero.
"Miss Alice, is there anything you would like to say to the people watching you right now?" The president asked.
He looked like he had eaten to his fill and was very satisfied, looking at Alice.
She had cleared the red zones and didn’t ask for anything in return. While he did feel obligated to give her something in return, he didn’t know of anything and so decided to drag her up for an award to make it known that she was affiliated with their country, which allowed him to benefit from this as well.
Aside from the red zones, there had been a big issue that just happened to occur while Alice was in the country. A large red gate had spawned, and a gate break occurred.
The monsters were large four-headed drakes, about three of them, one eclipse dragon, and several other vile monsters.
She aided in blocking the monster’s path, and so the casualties were reduced to a bare minimum. That was what he believed. But he found out that there were no casualties at all since she arrived at the scene on time and that there were only those who were wounded or lost a limb or two.
She had greatly helped this country.
Alice stared at the camera and then took in a deep breath, held it for a few seconds, and then let it out.
"Sorry, but I’m late for my appointment." She yelled, turned to the president, and then bowed. "Thank you for this chance." She said.
"Oh, there she goes." Maki pointed out as Alice raised her head and then zoomed into the air, dashing away and leaving only dust of cloud behind her feet.
The camera couldn’t follow her movement of course, so she was gone before anyone could stop her.
"Well, we once again thank our hero for all she has done for us." The president spoke a few more words before ending the ceremony. "And as such, we shall build a statue to commemorate our hero and raise the spirits of our citizens."
Alice was getting a statue, and not in her home country, but in England.
