The Fatebound Monarch
Chapter 76: Foresight
CHAPTER 76: FORESIGHT
Anna lowered her head and looked at her hands. She clenched and unclenched them into fists a few times.
"Hah... I do feel stronger than before."
Anna stepped out of her room as she made her way towards the training ground in the garden.
Moments later, she reached the garden and walked towards Neo, who had his arms crossed as he looked over Hanna’s training.
"The vines need to be taller, Hanna," Neo commented as he pointed at the vines.
"Okay!"
Hanna replied loudly as her eyes glowed bright green and tall veins sprouted in front of her.
"Now they are not as wide as before," Neo said with a frown,
"Huff... I think I can either huff... make them tall or wide..." Hanna replied as she huffed.
"It must be because you are still a Refined-Seeker," Anna said with a smile.
Hanna looked at her with a smile as she nodded.
"Must be."
"Miss Anieal." Neo turned towards her and bowed.
"Get ready, Neo," Anna said with a grin.
Neo lifted his head with a raised eyebrow as he questioned.
"What for?"
"We are sparring," Anna said as she took out her daggers and stepped into the training ground.
Neo looked at her for a moment and nodded as he stepped into the training ground.
Anna raised an eyebrow as she asked.
"No weapon?"
Neo shrugged and replied.
"I don’t need any."
A vein popped out on Anna’s head, she gave a creepy grin and spoke.
"Is that so? I hope you stay true to your words."
Anna took a deep breath as she rushed at Neo with the same wide grin.
"You are faster than before," Neo commented as he got ready to swing at her.
Suddenly, Anna’s eyes began to glow golden on their own, and she saw a golden visage of Neo punching towards her sides.
’What’s that?’
Right then, Neo stepped forward and swung a punch at her side.
Anna, who was confused by the sudden appearance of the golden visage, was unable to respond, and the punch landed.
Anna groaned and retreated a few steps.
"What’s wrong?" Neo questioned with furrowed eyebrows.
"Nothing..." Anna answered with a shake of her head.
Anna looked at him with narrowed eyes as she spoke.
"Again."
This time, Neo moved first as he pulled his right arm behind and got ready to swing at her.
Anna, once again, saw the golden visage, but this time she didn’t lose focus and read the movement of the golden visage.
Neo swung at her, and Anna dodged it with minimal movement.
Neo raised an eyebrow and punched her as a feint, leading to a kick.
Anna ignored the feint and ducked down to dodge the kick. She followed with a strike to his legs and placed her dagger on his neck.
Neo looked at her with widened eyes as he questioned in disbelief.
"How did you?"
Anna smiled playfully as she replied.
"Guess?"
She jumped back and stood up. She turned towards Hanna as she questioned.
"Do you have star essence to summon your vines for a few more times?"
Hanna looked at her and replied with a nod.
"I think so..."
"Great, then come at me," Anna said as she once again took her battle stance.
Neo, who was still on the ground, looked at her with a frown as he thought.
’How did she do it? I was much faster than her... She shouldn’t be able to predict my movements.’
Hanna questioned in a worried tone.
"You sure?"
"I am as sure as one can be."
Hanna heaved a sigh as her eyes glowed bright green.
Anna placed her dagger back and jumped a few times.
Her eyes began to glow golden as she saw golden vines erupt from beneath her. She jumped back and dodged.
"Keep coming at me!" She shouted in a joyful tone.
Hanna frowned and followed with summoning more and more vines. However, Anna dodged all of them with minimal movement.
Hanna began to breathe heavily due to exhaustion of the star essence within her star core.
She turned towards Neo and questioned.
"What’s going on? Am I that predictable?"
Neo shook his head and replied in a dark tone.
"No... I don’t know what’s going on."
Anna stared at both of them with a wide grin as she walked towards and questioned.
"So, how was my dance?"
None of them replied; they just stood up, shook their heads and left.
"Hahaha!" Anna began laughing at their reaction.
"Battle Foresight... Heh." Anna smiled as she looked up at the night sky.
Suddenly, she heard a pigeon coo.
Anna hurriedly turned back and saw a white pigeon on the ground.
"Night Seer?" Anna questioned with a raised eyebrow.
Anna’s eyes glowed golden as she looked at the white pigeon and saw two fate threads coming out of it.
"You do know I can see your thread when you are bound to the pigeon, right?" Anna questioned with a smile.
"You are no fun, Little Anna," the Night Seer finally replied in a bittersweet tone.
"So, what have you decided, Anna? Are you ready to step into the life of Midnighters?" the Night Seer questioned in a serious tone.
Anna replied with a nod.
"Yes, I am."
The white pigeon stared at her for a few moments before flapping its wings and flying away, leaving its last departing words.
"Alright... Come to the Night Tower."
Anna nodded and began walking to Damien’s room.
She knocked on the door to his room, and a few moments later, a gentle voice answered.
"Come in."
Anna pushed open the door and stepped inside.
Damien, who had a golden necklace in his hand, looked at Anna as he questioned.
"Did you meet her?"
"I did."
Damien looked at her for a few moments before asking.
"When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow."
"I see..."
He stepped forward and offered the necklace to her as he spoke with a smile.
"I hope you get the cure."
Anna nodded and took the necklace.
"I also hope so..." She mumbled.
Damien smiled bitterly and hugged her.
