Chapter 951: Chapter 951: There Won’t Be a Next Time

At the same time, at the intersection of the jungle’s southwestern side and the national highway, fifty meters outside the jurisdiction area, there was a civilian helicopter and several military jeeps parked.

Not far from the helicopter, stood several tall and slender figures.

Bo Tingxiao, wearing the Special Execution Team’s combat uniform and with a walkie-talkie at his waist, looked up at the weathered and weary man in front of him, “We haven’t seen each other for a while, how did you end up like this?”

Yun Lih was still in his unchanged gray shirt and trousers, with grass blades hanging off his shoulders, making him appear rather gaunt.

His hands were in his pockets, looking into the distance with a touch of self-mockery in his tone, “When you walk the night roads too often, you’re bound to see ghosts.”

After speaking, Yun Lih looked at Bo Tingxiao, “Did Qiaoqiao ask you to come?”

Bo Tingxiao stared deeply at him, then shook his head while taking out a pack of cigarettes to offer, “It was Minmin.”

Yun Lih looked at the cigarette pack hesitantly for two seconds but still pulled one out and put it to his mouth.

He hadn’t smoked in a long time; the taste of tobacco always reminded him of his past complacency.

White mist billowed around them, and Yun Lih’s Adam’s apple moved as he asked, “Have you always been in Myanmar?”

“Yes.” Bo Tingxiao glanced at the distant jungle, shaking his head with a light sigh, “I’ve been back for a long time.”

Just as he finished speaking, three people gradually emerged from near the restricted area on the jungle’s southwestern side.

Bo Tingxiao, in his military boots, walked over to greet them, “Counselor Meng, thank you for the trouble this time.”

The middle-aged man addressed as Counselor Meng exuded a composed aura. Even though he wasn’t as tall as Bo Tingxiao, his military department combat uniform made him seem upright and righteous.

Counselor Meng was not one for words, merely waving his hand casually, “It’s no trouble. Bai Mingyin’s men have entered the mountains according to the report from the front, you’d better leave soon to avoid running into them.”

“We’ll leave immediately.” Bo Tingxiao nodded slightly, his gaze showing respect and humility.

Counselor Meng glanced at Yun Lih once more before getting into the car with his two deputies.

Once the military vehicles drove off in the distance, Bo Tingxiao strolled back to Yun Lih’s side, looking at the sky as if deep in thought.

Yun Lih flicked the ash off his cigarette, just about to speak when Bo Tingxiao nodded towards the intersection ahead, “Does Shang Shaoyan know Meng Tao?”

“Didn’t you ask him to come?”

Bo Tingxiao smirked, taking a puff from his cigarette, “Meng Tao is the first counselor under the Deputy Commander, Myanmar’s chief bomb disposal expert. I’ve met him at the Cabinet Office but have no close ties with him. I doubt he would come at my invitation.”

And the mine under Xia Siyu’s foot was dismantled by Meng Tao.

Even though… Bo Tingxiao came specifically to dismantle the mine and save people, he was a step too late.

Yun Lih narrowed his eyes thoughtfully but said nothing more.

Not long after, as a cigarette burned out, Bo Tingxiao glanced back at the helicopter, “Aren’t you going to check the cliff over there?”

Yun Lih pressed his lips together, “What about you? Don’t you plan to meet Li Qiao?”

“Not now. The Execution Team has been busy recently, I need to rush back.” Bo Tingxiao ground the cigarette butt with his heel, lowering his eyes to conceal the fluctuations within them, “There’s the wedding banquet in two days, we’ll meet sooner or later.”

Yun Lih patted his shoulder, “Yes, see you then.”

He never answered Bo Tingxiao’s question, and upon saying goodbye, he stepped onto the helicopter.

In the cockpit, it turned out to be Wei Ang.

Yun Lih leaned back in the leather seat, slowly closing his eyes and softly said, “Back to the hotel.”

Wei Ang started the helicopter, and the ears were instantly filled with the sharp noise of the rotors.

Yun Lih picked up the noise-canceling headphones by chance and unexpectedly touched an oil paper package.

He opened his eyes, looked sideways and his pupils tightened, “What is this?”

Wei Ang turned back, loudly explaining, “Found it in the jungle, Luoyu said it belonged to Miss Xia, asked me to keep it safe.”

Yun Lih picked up the bloody oil paper package, one corner still stained with soil, seeming to confirm Wei Ang’s words.

On the other side, two more cars drove near the cliff.

Xia Siyu was in bad condition and needed to be taken to the hospital for treatment immediately.

In the carriage, Li Qiao pursed her lips, looking at the man beside her, feeling guilty as she proactively entwined her palm with his, “How did you come?”

Shang Yu, with thin lips tightly closed, was silent as he slowly crossed his legs, turning his head to give her a deep, dark gaze.

Li Qiao swallowed her throat, nodding smoothly, “Yes, I was wrong, you should be angry.”

Her attitude of admitting her mistake could be considered very good.

The man’s taut contour softened slightly, and then heard Li Qiao explain, “Even if it’s wrong, I have to go. Xia Lao Wu got into trouble because of me, I can’t sit idly by.”

Shang Yu lowered his gaze, a sigh drifting from deep in his throat, “To save her, aren’t you afraid of getting into trouble yourself?”

Li Qiao didn’t answer directly, but instead, threw out another question retreating to advance, “If He Chen were in trouble for you, could you stand by and watch?”

The man was silent.

They both knew the answer to this question without saying it.

Because of their deep loyalty, the result would be the same no matter who it was.

Shang Yu sighed while pulling her into his arms, pinching her shoulder as if in punishment, “Next time, remember to discuss with me.”

“Would you agree?” Li Qiao raised an eyebrow, seeing the man narrowing his eyes in displeasure, remembering that she was still in a ‘guilty’ position, she immediately nodded obediently, “Okay, for sure.”

Shang Yu wrapped his arms around her slender shoulders, leaning down as if in lingering fear to bite her earlobe, “You’re really fearless.”

Li Qiao curved her lips, pecked the man’s face, and whispered, “I used to defuse mines in no-man’s minefields, no one knows better than me what’s in there.”

Besides, even if she wanted to save Xia Siyu, she wouldn’t joke with her own life.

Shang Yu scrutinized Li Qiao with profound eyes, pressing her hand against his heart, solemnly advising, “There will be no next time.”

Li Qiao smiled and nodded, then changed the topic with a twist, “Is He Chen wearing your clothes?”

In the second car at the back, Zuo Xuan kept his eyes straightforward on the road, trying his best to eliminate distractions and not let the two in the backseat affect him.

At this moment, He Chen hardly ever put on a sulky face, exuding coldness all over.

His handsome and frivolous face was written with the words ‘I’m not happy.’

Yin Mo sat snugly against the car door on the right side, with quite a distance between the two of them.

She occasionally peeked at He Chen, her mouth moving but no words coming out.

After a while, Yin Mo’s gaze dropped, spying on the black shirt not fitting his style, deliberating to find a topic, “You look quite…”—not good in a black shirt.

However, before she finished speaking, He Chen’s gloomily handsome face turned towards her, “Where did you hide my clothes?”

Yin Mo’s mind flashed, and she weakly replied, “In the bathtub…”

She feared that He Chen would stop her from going out, so last night while he was asleep, she soaked all his clothes in the bathtub.

Yin Mo thought she couldn’t be blamed for this; it was He Chen who insisted on staying in her room, otherwise, she wouldn’t have resorted to such tactics.

“And my shoes?” He Chen’s temple twitched twice, asking darkly.

Yin Mo glanced at him and then quickly turned her face away, “The shoes are… in the wine cabinet.”
