CHAPTER 51: THE WARDEN, THE WOLF, AND ONE DRUNK IDIOT
He stood at the entrance, and it felt like a storm had been shoved into the room, one shimmering with controlled violence.
His dark eyes swept across the room, taking in every detail. He leaned by the door, eyes falling on her first, lingering on what she wore for a fraction of a second, before they moved and settled on the man standing next to her.
The moment their eyes met, the aura in the room shifted. Theo felt like she was freezing and burning at the same time, and the air had grown too tight for her to breathe.
She stared between the two men, wondering what the hell was going on. It was like two predators staring at each other, two Alphas in their own right, colliding.
The Darkness in their eyes warped as it met in the circle, and goosebumps curled around her skin and made her want to hide in a corner till they were done.
Theo suddenly hiccuped, and that kind of broke the pressure in the room. Both men looked at her.
"You two look like angry statues," She said, confused, "If you want to keep glaring at each other like you plan to tear off the roof, might as well step outside and do it,"
"Hellcat," Zeke said without looking at her, "Shut up,"
"Pendragon," Sylas said, flat and cold, "You should be in class,"
"Have you grown so weary of life that you seek the most wretched exit possible?" Zeke’s tone was cruel, and his fingers twitched with restrained fury by his sides.
Theo looked between them again.
They really seemed to hate each other.
"You’re out of bounds, Pendragon," Sylas’s eyes flashed coldly and the temperature in the room dropped even more.
"Then don’t cross mine," Zeke fired back, then looked at Theo again, "And you, what hole did you crawl into last night?"
Before she could speak, Sylas cut in, "Don’t talk to my student,"
"Don’t breathe close to my roommate!"
"Then you should have looked after him last night and made sure he didn’t get so drunk!"
Zeke stepped inside. It was just one step, but it was as if the whole room had exhaled a warning.
"Is that why you gave him your clothes?" He deadpanned.
"That," Sylas also took a step forward, and the room seemed to move with him, "Is none of your concern,"
"You don’t get to decide what concerns me,"
Theo blinked at both of them, and whispered, "Are you gonna bite each other?"
Zeke stepped forward, a mockingly polite smile forming on his face, "Hand him over, Warden,"
Sylas’s grip around her waist tightened, "I don’t take orders from children,"
Zeke stepped closer, the heat radiating from him like a furnace. Sylas didn’t even flinch, while Theodora was getting choked by the suffocation it brought.
"Good thing I’m not asking,"
A low hum vibrated from Zeke’s throat as though his wolf was surfacing, and Sylas’s eyes caught that menacing glow, refusing to back down.
Before anything could happen, Theo was already standing between them in her oversized shirt, gripping the pants with one hand and gently swaying, "Boys!" She slurred, "No fighting. But if you really have to fight, go outside and close the doors. It’s too bright and my eyes hurt,"
Sylas caught her elbows and dragged her back, "You...stay still!"
Zeke quickly caught her other elbow, "Hellcat, come here. Or your brain cells are going to freeze standing so close to him,"
They both pulled and froze.
Then, they looked up to glare at one another. Zeke’s expression was a smirk dripping with intense malice, and Sylas’s glare shot at him like icicles.
"Let go of him," Sylas lowered his voice.
"No," Zeke answered, "You let go of him,"
"He’s intoxicated. I’m his teacher, and you are in no position to tell me what to do,"
"Oh, great warden of Gravemont, do I look like I give a fuck?"
Theo blinked, "Are you two gonna kiss?"
"NO!" They roared at her in perfect sync.
She almost jumped, "You’re both so mean,"
Zeke’s aura exploded silently, "Let go of him, warden. I won’t repeat myself again,"
"Not on your life," Sylas answered simply.
Theo, still caught in the middle, grinned at both of them, "You’re both so tall, and you both smell so good. I’m standing between two gods. Wait, am I dead?"
Zeke yanked her toward him, and Theo groaned as pain seared through her arms. One from Zeke’s roughness and the other from Sylas’s icy grip that would have torn her arm if he hadn’t let go at the last minute.
She landed flush at Zeke’s side, slamming into his sturdy chest.
"He’s coming with me,"
"He’s coming with me," Sylas corrected, stepping closer till there were hardly any spaces between the three of them, "And you will be on your way to the Commandant’s office,"
"Make me,"
"I will,"
"Wait, wait," Theo’s eyes widened, "The air is vibrating. It’s actually vibrating!"
They ignored her like she was background noise, and Zeke leaned in till their forehead were inches apart, "Stay in your lane, warden,"
"Try pushing me, Pendragon,"
"I’d enjoy that,"
"And I’d kill you,"
The ache in her head grew, and she clutched her head, "Why are you flirting aggressively?" She groaned.
"WE ARE NOT!" They both barked.
They refused to look away, refused to break eye contact first, and of course, they refused to release their power which only made the headache worse.
Theo felt a bit of discomfort in her belly and made another funny noise with her throat. Zeke glanced down at her, "Hellcat, I swear to god if you throw on me, I will...,"
"I already did that," She replied, and pointed at Sylas, "We kissed in the shower, and I puked in his mouth,"
Zeke’s expression went from emotionless to the look of a turbulent storm about to burst from within. A deeply unsettling feeling made his chest tighten, and something violent rushed through his veins.
Sylas noticed.
Someone snapped within him, too.
"I see," Zeke managed out, a low growl rumbling out of his throat.
She gagged again, "I don’t feel so good," She groaned.
"Don’t you dare!" Zeke glared at her.
She glared back, raised a hand and slammed her knuckles down on his head, "Shut up. It’s your fault I’m feeling this way,"
Her stomach tumbled more violently this time, and she couldn’t hold it in anymore. The contents came spewing all over his black jacket, warm and thick.
Sylas glanced away, slightly disgusted. He knew exactly how it tasted, which made it even worse.
Zeke froze again, twitching like a madman.
