“Boss, I understand what you mean, but I’ve decided to go to the Provincial City with you.” Wang Xiaofei reacted, smiled, and then started the car, slowly driving forward.

Seeing Wang Xiaofei’s insistence, Liu Hun couldn’t help but sigh and didn’t continue to speak.

They continued driving forward, and about an hour later, the previously speeding Chevrolet slowly came into view for Wang Xiaofei and Liu Hun.

“Damn it, this road was supposed to be a one-way street, and they parked in the middle, how are we supposed to get through!” Wang Xiaofei gradually drove up behind the other car, stopped, and couldn’t help but curse quietly.

“My car broke down, can you give me a ride to the Provincial City? I’ll give you 500 bucks for the ride.” Stepping forward in high heels, the woman spoke to Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei, slightly out of breath.

Upon hearing the woman’s words, Liu Hun instinctively frowned. It’s not that giving her a ride was a problem since there was enough space in the car. Even letting her hitch a ride wasn’t an issue; the key was her arrogant demeanor, as if Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei owed her something.

Whether it’s dealing with people or handling matters, the thing Liu Hun values most is attitude. Clearly, the woman’s attitude didn’t sit well with him.

“I’ll pay 1000, since there’s still over a hundred kilometers to the Provincial City, even including tolls and gas, this should be enough, so don’t be too greedy!” The woman, seeing Liu Hun frown, hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and said to Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei.

It seemed like Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei had to give her a ride.

“What if we don’t give you a ride?” Wang Xiaofei was also displeased with the woman’s attitude. Despite her good looks and figure, such charm was of no use to him.

“What? You’re rejecting 1000 bucks for a ride? Do you even have brains? I’m such a beautiful girl and don’t mind riding with you, but you’re rejecting me. Do you even know who I am?” The girl got angry after hearing Wang Xiaofei’s words, her hands on her hips, resembling a fierce tigress.

Just as the woman finished speaking, Liu Hun didn’t even spare her another glance and turned towards the convenience store ahead. Seeing this, Wang Xiaofei smirked and disdainfully glanced at the woman before also heading to the convenience store with Liu Hun.

“Boss, two bottles of drinks, please.” Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei said upon entering the convenience store, where a few middle-aged men were playing cards.

Normally, a convenience store like this run by one or two people would suffice, and mostly local villagers operate them. Young or middle-aged men wouldn’t typically be managing such a store because of how few cars pass and even fewer customers.

On top of that, this store had four or five middle-aged men, which was suspicious. Yet, Liu Hun didn’t say much, as they only needed to buy some drinks.

“Not for sale!” A middle-aged man, glancing at Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei while playing cards, said to them directly.

“The drinks are over there, ten bucks a bottle, just leave the money on the table.” Shortly after, a middle-aged man next to him looked up and smiled slightly at Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei, nodding.

Hearing the words of these two middle-aged men, Liu Hun and Wang Xiaofei furrowed their brows slightly. Regardless of their attitude, just the fact that a single bottle of water cost ten bucks was outrageous.

Even though they weren’t short on money, being exploited like this annoyed them.

“Boss, isn’t this water a bit too expensive? Ten bucks a bottle is practically robbery…” Wang Xiaofei complained to the middle-aged men, displeased.

“Take it or leave it, if you don’t want it, scram and don’t disturb us playing cards!” The middle-aged man who spoke earlier replied to Wang Xiaofei, also displeased.

However, the middle-aged man next to him smiled and said to Wang Xiaofei, “After all, in these desolate areas, we also need to make a living, so it’s slightly more expensive. I hope you can understand.”

Hearing the middle-aged man’s words, Wang Xiaofei still wanted to argue, but Liu Hun shook his head, pulling out twenty bucks from his pocket and placing it on the table before casually grabbing two bottles of water.

As they took their water, the woman finally arrived and impatiently called out to the middle-aged men, “Boss, one bottle of water, please.”

“Ten bucks a bottle, take it or…” The middle-aged man earlier had just started to say, but upon seeing the woman, his eyes lit up. He immediately put down his cards and smiled at the woman, asking, “How many bottles do you want, miss?”

“One bottle, and isn’t the price a bit too steep?” The woman frowned and asked unhappily.

“Expensive? How about one buck a bottle then.” The middle-aged man smiled warmly at the girl in front of him.

“That’s more like it.” The girl grabbed a bottle and, leaving a dollar behind, drank it down eagerly.
