CHAPTER 487: CHAPTER 487 - THE MATTER OF THOUSAND DRAGONOIR’S [ PART 1 ]

A few days later...

In the Capital City, The Royal Palace.

Inside the large Throne Room of the Palace which would have been usually empty besides the guards and staff that remained, there was a change today.

It was full of people.

Rows of people stood side by side as they waited for an important thing to happen.

These people, standing before the throne weren’t commoners or staff, but they were members of nobility.

There was at least one member from every single noble house standing inside the throne room today. They were murmuring amongst each other; they’re voice wasn’t low either.

"When is it going to start?"

"I’m anxious to see what result we’re going to get."

"He’s going to die, isn’t he?"

"To think he’s going to get finished so soon... he’s father at least was able to keep himself alive for some time before the timely thing happened."

They talked as they waited for two people to arrive. Most of them kept looking at the large throne beside them that was empty and some couldn’t help but wonder out loud.

"When is her Majesty going to come out? Why is she taking so long?"

"Don’t you know? She’s pregnant, it’s going to take some time before she gets herself here."

"About that... are we sure of it?"

"Of what?"

"About the baby... is it... really the kin-"

"Sshh!" His companion quickly silenced him as he looked around quickly, "Are you stupid?! Don’t you know where we are, how can you talk about something so sensitive out here where the whole kingdom could hear it?!"

"Ah! You’re right. That was so stupid of me... but though..."

"I don’t know. For now, there is no information about it, at least not any that aren’t being efficiently wiped out." The guy shook his head, "Forget this, such talks will bring the end of a bloodline, let’s not talk about it again."

The most arrogant and richest people in all of the kingdom didn’t have to wait long before they heard a trumpet blowing, announcing her majesty’s entry.

"Make way for her glorious, loving and steadfast majesty, Queen Abigail." The Herald loudly announced as he added a few more titles to her name.

The large door behind the throne room, just a bit adjacent towards the throne opened as all those royalty and nobility standing, kneeled and bowed.

Abigail gracefully walked in a perfect pace. Her body enraptured by the Whitish-Gold dress she wore and its long end carrying behind her smoothly. Upon her head was a large gold crown with sharp edges all around and a roaring lion’s head at the forefront.

Olenna walked behind her, wearing the regal head maid outfit. She stood by her side a bit behind as Abigail sat down upon the throne.

"You May All Stand." Her tone, not loud or low, reached all the way as everyone bowing, stood up slowly.

The first thing every single one of them did was to look at her stomach, which was quite full.

This made them quite piqued, especially with how close it seemed the delivery was getting.

’She’s soon to deliver, isn’t she?’ This thought went through everyone’s mind as both gracious and insidious thoughts went along.

Yet their eyes remained for just a moment before they stood straighter than even the guards as they waited for the true drama to begin.

From among the standing men and women, a single person walked out.

It was a tall aged man with a commandeering and wise aura. He had a whiff of white hair mixed among his blacks and a decent blackish-white beard.

He wore a red over coat with two gold strips at the center and back pants that perfectly fitted to his body. The guys most distinctive factor wasn’t his stone cold stare but the pin at the center of his coat, just below his neck.

It was a gold pin with the symbol of a soaring eagle.

This man was called Harry Bairevow and he was the Chief Advisor, the second in command of the crown. The Golden Pin he wore, represented that title of his and made him the second most powerful people in the court.

Harry Bairevow went in front of Abigail and bowed, "Your Majesty."

Abigail gave a simple nod as Harry stood next to her, on her right.

With Abigail’s permission, he spoke, "Today, there is an important matter to talk about, something that is paramount and has come to notice to this court."

"We will address that matter in a brief moment... but first, an important notice by her majesty." Harry said and gave a look to the Harold.

The Harold took a step ahead and unrolled a golden colored scroll as he read it aloud, "On the Great Matter of Her Majesty’s Childbirth, Her Majesty Queen Abigail Bloodborne has decided to arrange a tourney after the birth of this kingdom’s future King!"

"You have all been cordially invited to the Tourney and those that wishes to join it, may join and win great rewards."

"For further notice or complaints, please to talk to the respective office about your thoughts!"

A combined gasp spread around as people quietly murmured a few words.

It wasn’t really shock that she had announced a Tourney. Almost every ruler announced a tourney or tournament in the joy and celebration of their child’s birth.

But what they were shocked about was that she had said it was their Future King.

She was announcing that she was going to have a son, which was a bold claim.

As the era it was, every single house and royal family knew that the firstborn son would likely be the king... but if it was a girl, there might be a chance that the title could get whiffed away by some male relative of the Royal Family.

Of course that could only come true if the Queen or the concubines couldn’t give birth to male heirs that is.

And right now, there were no Male Heirs. So the Queen’s bold claim might not seem realistic but it did bring hope to her faction and disdain to her opposition.

"Thank you for inviting us to the tourney, Your Majesty." While most were preoccupied with their thoughts, Marika Dragonoir, Head of the Dragonoir Family stood out and spoke, "The Dragonoir’s accept your invitation and will join the tourney when it comes."

It might seem like a lackey move, calling out first like that. But when that someone was from one of the strongest house and solid supporter of The Queen, it wasn’t a question for anyone.

Instead the other houses all step forward and started congratulating and thanking her on the news, saying good things of how the newborn will be a strong male, great ruler like her or some other bullshit.

As Abigail smiled and talked with everyone patiently with their bootlicking, Harry remained like a stone wall beside her, taking in everything and making note of it.

After a long time talking about the announcement, did it finally end as Harry started speaking again, "With that adjourned... we’ll be moving into the great matter now."

Hearing his words, some of the houses grinned while some had pale looks as they turned to the long door opposite to the throne.

"Bring in the Head of the Tax Household, Henry Van Tax before the throne."

The Door opened and Henry, walked with a steady and calm look, accompanied by two guards with long spears behind him.

Henry walked until he stopped before a respective distance of the throne as Harry asked.

"Before we start Lord Henry, do you have anything to say for the crimes named against you?"

Henry looked up and with the most honest look he said...

"I Plead Guilty!"
